New Left Back

I wouldn't be against both Shaw and Darmian leaving if we signed Mendy, keep Young for right back cover and (wishful thinking) Varela.

I really like Luke Shaw and hope he succeeds but if he isn't putting the work in required, we'd have to let go. Talent can only get so you so far if you don't have the right attitude to join with it. 43 games in 3 years (mainly due to his injuries) isn't good enough, but then again looking and Mendy's stats his isn't that good either. He's missed 9 games this season.

I'd love Bertrand here, he's always fantastic when I watch him and he's a good age, English, used to the league and having played at Chelsea he's used to the expectations unlike Memphis and Schneiderlin were.
Him and blind would make us be really strong at left back which is important next season, probably more so in an attacking sense than a defensive one.

I know it didn't work out for him on loan but Cameron borthwick Jackson can cross a ball from LB like I have hardly ever seen. I'd give him a chance. Can't be worse than darmian.

Please stop with the CBJ talk.
No more "i hope this guy improves shit-ton so he's up to the standard" until the team in general is up to the standard.
Get proper players.

Don't mind CBJ/Shaw being available as squad-options, but Shaw has not been fit for long enough to claim the spot for his own, and CBJ has proved feck all. If we're doing changes at LB, let it be a proper player.

Bertrand, Rodriguez, Kolašinac, Mendy. All realistic targets.

Bertrand has history with Mourinho who sold him once and dunno if he will be up to sign him now. But Southampton are a selling club and Bertrand would probably be up for it.

Rodriguez will be a free agent in the summer, well proven in Bundesliga and young.

Kolašinac in similar situation as Rodriguez is, free come summer, proven and young.

Mendy the least proven and probably the hardest one to get.

CBJ would make a good squad option. He was imo our best youth player behind Rashford last year.

This is where a director of football would come in use who'd tell mourinho to get his shit together and use Shaw, or make do with the other resources we have at the club.

Could offer Shaw + £20-25m for Rose but I don't know how badly Pochettino wants Shaw.

Really liking this talk of Mendy, he'd be an excellent addition. We should get him and Fabinho for both full back positions, would sort us out for a few years.

When anyone other than the manager starts dictating who plays, you are simply asking for trouble .

It's a terrible way to run a club.

Getting rid of a 21 year old, for a manager who will he gone within 2 years is also a terrible model.

Best case scenario is probably if we can loan him out for a couple of seasons, then bring him back once mourinho gets himself sacked. Contract situation isn't too great for that though.

A director of football that forced our manager to use a player that arguably isn't good enough is a terrible idea.

Isn't Ricardo Pereira supposed to be pretty good? Left back isn't the most important place on the pitch and there are plenty of people who can play instead of Luke. Only qualm is the homegrown quota. Arguably the only starter who is homegrown is Pogba. There's Rashford and Lingard as back ups but we're getting rid of Young, Rooney and Carrick soon and we've already gotten rid of Schneiderlin.

That is something United would never do and rightly so.

You can't undermine the managers decisions then hold him accountable for results.

Martial was supposedly frozen out and fought his way back into the team. Maybe it really is Shaw in this case and not Mourinho.

Jose has shown this season with Micky, Mata and even Bastian that his mind is never made up. It's up to the player to convince otherwise.

Shaw when he has played this season has sadly covered himself in glory either. I think your evident dislike for the manager clouds that.

We get rid of players because the manager doesn't rate them or feel they are suitable for his tactics/formation etc all the time. In the past three months we have gotten rid of the German WC winning captain, and two established Internationals for France and Holland. Its just a normal part of the game.

He is having a great season on loan at Nice. He is a RB.

Put Young at LB. He will be fine. He also has a couple more years at the top level.

Is he? I thought he could play either side, my mistake.

He can, you are correct. Last season he was mainly used as a left-back. He'd be one of the best choice we could make IMO, because of his versatility.

Not against squad option role at all for him or Shaw.
Just think that if we are to make a change anywhere, it should be to improve the starter-options. :)

Thats not correct, as he has contract until 2019, but with a 22m€ clause. He has been strongly linked with a move to Inter.

While I really like the look of CBJ and Tierney I think we have too few players in their prime already in the side so would prefer a proven LB who can play at the highest level and has a genuine attacking threat.

Kolasinac is out of contract in the summer. Very physical defender, could see Mourinho liking him. Has been strongly linked to City though.

He wasnt good enough at the Wolves so would be worse here. We need ready made players at the moment, to get us back top

Wouldn't be surprised if he moved to Juventus, given that he's a free transfer.

What are you on about.

Regardless of his age, Shaw's attitude and / or fitness has now been questioned by 3 managers - he wasn't even signed by a club who had a manager at the time.

Doesn't look like a Man Utd player - get rid.

On a different note, do you know anything about Evander Ferreira and Valdivia ?

Valdivia is an attacking midfielder not really a creator. Goes missing often. He might be above average at best.

Evander I don't know much about.

Signed this kid in FM, came second in a Ballon D'or one season.

I sure Jose will pull out a gem of a signing. In his last spell at Chelsea he signed Felipe Luis and Baba Rahman so his recent record is impeccable.

I don't mind us going for a new LB if Jose feels strengthening the position is crucial for a title challenge next season. However, I don't want us to pay another 30+mil on a defensive spot on another one season wonder just because he's among the headlines.
Let's do proper scouting and stick to a budget. Throwing cash at everything hasn't been working well for us, we need to look to other options.

"Manchester united line up as follows, number 40 Joel Pereira, number 3 Ricardo Pereira, number 44 Andreas Pereira, number 21 Ander Herrera..."

Do it Jose!
