Neville - ‘’no style of play’’

When Neville was harping in about how we need a DoF he said that we should have the ‘best in class’. He said that across every part of the structure United should have the ‘best in class’. It’s odd that the only place he doesn’t hold this belief is the manager position.

He can't get his head out of Ole's ass. Of course Utd should have the best manager available but somehow having a mediocre Norwegian is perfectly alright.

Doesn't stop him laying into players he doesn't like.

He also had no qualms having bites at Mourinho, as much as I agreed with him, its the blatant bias and hypocrisy that gets on my nerves

It honestly makes me cringe when he talks about our style. Mourinho and LVG bored the shit out of me but at least they had an identity as coaches, Ole is just full of empty Fergie-isms. Ole's coaching philosophy can be summed up as WWSD, what would Sir Alex do.

Ole has a general idea of what he wants, the problem is it isn't nuanced enough and lacks the intricacies and specialism that other top coaches have. I watch in awe when Pep, Tuchel and Klopp talk about football, you can see why their teams are the way they are especially Pep. When Ole talks, it always seems to be about the individual player and them having the personality of a Manchester United player, so its no surprise that we overly rely on moments.

El jefe if it's only idea most of us have even better idea on what's a good football.

Getting there is another thing

He won't stick his nose into another couple's marriage and tell them to get divorced. But he is willing to divorce his own wife.

Apparently that's hypocrisy.

What does his nationality have to do with it?

Do you think Haaland is average?

Are you dumb? Think before you type.

Did you really need to add this in your reply?

Yeah I did. Did he need to imply all Norwegians were mediocre because they’re Norwegian?

This kind of stuff is way too normalised on here. We need to stamp it out.

People just type whatever shite they want like there are no consequences.

If you think my reply was harsh then you’re probably part of the problem.

Put Ole out of his misery.

See which club hires him next...
Who the hell would hire him.

We're the only club in the league that rewards mediocrity.

We have Pogba, Ronaldo, Bruno yet we're sitting with a championship level manager.

We won't win the league or anything this season so how is this man still in a job.

Stop all this politically correct bs. My god these days.

What the funk are you babbling on about?

I think that NYAS's point here (as harsh as his post may have come across) was that it's improper to casually link someone's incompetence with his nationality, which is what the original poster to whom he was replying seemed to be doing (perhaps unwittingly).

Carra absolutely laying into Ole.

"This is a manger with experience from Scandinavia and Cardiff, this will never change but OGS will never win a league title or a CL as man Utd manager".

"They need a manger that can compete against the top managers in this league, and OGS isn't one of them"

"Even if he wins the FA cup or EL that makes no difference, they still need a better manager"
Too bold of Carra to actually say all these.

Is he trying to get views? Is he told to generate publicity?

Um, he is in a televison job where he is obligated to give his opinion about something. The fact that he admits that Ole is his mate and won't question his suitability for the hottest seat in English football is, if not hypocrisy, at the very least unprofessional and dishonest.

Carra is right, it is plain obvious except for fans who still dream of that goal in '99 and his former team mates

I don't agree with Neville on the Paul Pogba midfield situation. Carragher had it right, it's never worked for us and Ole had a mare trying it again vs Leicester.

Think it's the opposite. Neville is right. Pogba is not the major issue here. Not by any stretch of imagination. It's our coaching. Can't have 4 players up front that do absolutely nothing, or in case of Bruno, do whatever they please. It will leave you exposed no matter how good your CMs are.

I think Gnev is pulling his hair out about us. One minute he's living in dreamland about Ronnie the next he's having nightmares about Leicester

This combined XI of his is ludicrous. Firmino at AM over Fernandes, Maguire over Varane..
His explanation was OK. He was basically saying Bruno and Ronaldo don't work together and he wanted Ronaldo. Hopefully as the season progresses he's wrong but we've been shit so far so maybe he's correct

If you listen to his justification for not having Bruno in his combined 11, he actually thinks him and Ronaldo can't play together.

As above, if he's correct were fecked.

These combined 11s do not make a lot of sense. Quality of single players is one thing, but a real top manager has an exact view of what is missing for his vision of how wo play football the way he wants. He will make the best out of what he got and try to fill the gaps or look for concrete improvements in the transfer market.

I am pretty sure if you gave Klopp e.g. Greenwood, Sancho, Donny, Bruno, Shaw, Varane and even players like Lindelöf, Lingard, McTominay and take away some his starters he would use them properly and after a period of adaption they will play as convincingly as now.

He makes it up as he goes along and is always trying to prove he's not biased towards united - I actually find his analysis nauseating at times.

It's clear he and Carragher know a lot about characters, work rate etc but listen to Jose's analysis/punditry and it's on another level - it's an education.

To which Neville replied an FA Cup and top 4 finish would be success. Jesus
Ye that was incredible right. He actually said, FA Cup,, Top 4 and Europa would be a success, but it's the same. Imagine having to lower your ambition to justify keeping Ole in a job. Incredible.

We are all agreed on the CAF whether you are Ole in or Ole out, that he has to challenge for the title this season, and by that we mean end of April, into May still have a chance to win the league. A cup would be nice but he has to challenge for the title with the money spent, and the players at his disposal. This top 4 narrative has to stop, it's extremely Arsenal like.

Agree with this I can't believe he said that a FA Cup,, Top 4 and Europa would be a success, how can you justify that with the amount spent on the team this summer is beyond me. Ole himself said before the start of the season that they want to be in a title race come April/May, that is not happening now.

Getting into the top 4 is a must for any top side but and we should be getting into the top 4 but we need to be challenging for the title this season and every other season too. Agree that top 4 narrative must stop.

It's not just Neville, but Scholes and even Rio on his latest video has said Ole should get until the end of the season.

Let's be honest. Listening to your own in this is sort of situation will never tell the truth.

Of course Neville will back Ole, he's a friend and he doesn't want to go against him.

The REAL truth is always with opposition fans, and the fact they're desperately want us to keep Ole says it all.

The same was said for Moyes, LVG and Mourinho and we all know how that ended.

It’s a fluid situation as we could be struggling by Xmas. I kind of agree with them. Worry is, Ole limps to top 4 and the board stick with him because he just scraped through.

The way our players operate under Ole, I really think we might not get top 4 if he hangs around for the season. That's my concern. I'd even rope in Blanc as caretaker if we have to (he's the one I preferred as caretaker back when Jose was sacked!)

I agree, no need to bring anyones nationality into it.

Blanc would be good in the interim I think.

Ole is a negative coach. it is that simple. He cares more about what the opponent is gunna do. The mistake Maguire made was simply down to their negative approach to games.

I know he was an attacker but he manages United like as if he were managing Watford or something.

Some people don't notice that he's scared of conceding.

I don't agree with Neville on the Paul Pogba midfield situation. Carragher had it right, it's never worked for us and Ole had a mare trying it again vs Leicester.
But, rather importantly, what Carragher did say is that it is not just Paul Pogba being selected in midfield that's the problem, but then the selection of "five attacking players", as he refers to them, when Paul Pogba is played in midfield. That's a important distinction. United are defensively frail not because Paul Pogba is in the double pivot, but that they are vulnerable because the four players in front of him offer no real first line of defence, as can be seen by the MotD analysis, the MNF analysis, or the the Michael Cox article in The Athletic. It's why we are still easy to progress against even if you play Fred and McT there.

This just isn't true though is it, our biggest problem is that we're far too gung-ho and have no control when the ball is turned-over.

It is success for us though, we rarely win anything. So a cup win would be one our best feats in almost 10 years. Hard to not disagree with that. History is history.
Also City and Pool has a better 11 than us, so chances of a title win are very slim, even with a top top manger.
