Neville - ‘’no style of play’’

Said it again.

No style of play, no pattern, no ideas in attack.

Said about as much as he could and even acknowledged he is his mate
Was a great piece but finished the same as usual. It’s blind faith based on his friendship which won’t make him change his opinion on Ole’s future even despite clearly hilighting his shortcomings as a coach and manager.

It's not based on his friendship.

He was the only person in the media not saying wenger should be sacked.

Fairly certain he even defended jose.

I don't think he's ever publicly said any manager should be sacked has he?

He has said he will never say anyone should be sacked as he disagrees with the media jumping on and publicly demanding people lose their jobs. Basically he has an ounce of human decency which is too much for some people.

With what happened to him as a coach I don't think he'll ever come out and directly say someone should be sacked. When Ole does depart, he will be less coy with his words, but for right now he doesn't want to cross that line.

suggest you watch it another couple of times, you might eventually get it right

aint that the truth

Exactly. If you think neville was going to come on there and say he needs to be sacked no wonder you don't think he criticised him.

He said all that needed to be said. He's under massive pressure, now isn't the time to do it (which carra also said).

He emphasised no patterns, or style, said the basically moved to a 5 0 5 in the second half and genuinely didn't know if it was oles decision or the players and either way it was bad management because he at the least didn't fix it.

He said about all he can hope for is ole to get some defensive structure and hope the attackers can outscore the other team.

And yet he’s fecking sacking managers at Salford like it’s going out of fashion.

Because as an owner he will sack them if they underperform.

He won't publicly call for a manager to be sacked in his role in the media.

You need to separate the two.

Apply a bit of common sense here guys, Neville has made it clear for weeks if not longer what he thinks. Remember the reaction from Carragher etc when we signed Ronaldo and he said we wouldn't win the league? He knows the script, just read between the lines and remember that he'll never call for Ole or anyone to be sacked.

Carragher didn't ask for Ole to be sacked either, but he acknowledged that Ole doesn't have the experience to manage a club like united or compete with the likes of Klopp and Pep.

Neville on the other hand thinks that because City, Liverpool, and Chelsea are too good, changing managers might not actually make a difference as it'll always be difficult competing against them, which is utter garbage to be honest. A top manager would get the best out of those players, period. Whether that leads to winning trophies or not, it's irrelevant, because it is a tough competition, but we need to at least be challenging and getting the best out of this team. Ole is simply not doing that, and that's why he needs to go.

Hard to separate the two, hard to take anything he says seriously regarding managerial sackings as he doesn’t practice what he preaches.

Haven't seen it yet but my mate who's an Arsenal supporter texted me saying that they both absolutely smoked him tonight. Good.

It’s incredibly easy to separate the two actually as they are completely different things.

One is a business owner sacking an employee privately. The other is a national media publicly launching a campaign to get people sacked. He preaches against the media hounding for people to lose their jobs, nowhere has he said no one should ever lose their job.

Go on and show where he has publicly took part in a media campaign to sack a Salford manager.

Of what value is a pundit who is paid to give his opinions but will not give his real opinions?

To be fair all journalists in all walks of life face this dilemma. It has more to do with biting the hand that feeds you than being a decent person. Sports and Politics journalists are the worst though.

He won't even criticize him. He is biased. If any other manager had played Maquire with one day's training after an injury he would be all over him, but no not his darling Ole. Hypocrite.

I though it was a good conversation and analysis from both of them. The only thing I disagree on is that they both seemed adamant that Ole would get the season. We know how reactive our board are, if the Old Trafford crowd turns and serious leaks to the media from the players happens then Ole could be gone anytime soon.

The most obvious issue for United is the problem created by Bruno/Pogba/LW. You can only have two in the team at once but they're all star players, so someone has to miss out.

If you go with Fernandes in front of McTominay and Fred, it means it's either Pogba or Sancho/Rashford on the left. If you put Pogba alongside McTominay and Fred, you then either push Fernandes wide or drop him.

United have created a problem similar to what Arsenal created when they signed Ozil. They were a better team without him but if you try to shoehorn too many players into a system, it just doesn't click. The following midfields are better in my opinion:

McTominay - Fred
Greenwood - Fernandes - Pogba

Or...

McTominay - Fred
Greenwood - Pogba - Sancho/Rashford

The player to miss out should be the one running his contract down. That's before performances are even considered.

I have no idea why Ole trusts Fred so much. He should become a baker because he certainly creates turnovers (cherry is my favourite). McT should be left to help at the back, play Pogba more central and attack with the rest. And more team play. Make the extra pass.

I think this was worthy of an admin like until you mentioned cherry turnovers, gross.

You make it out as if Man United aren’t a business at the end of the day and don’t have the same key performance indicators, relatively speaking, of course.

Where do you see hounding? No one is asking him to annihilate Ole into the dirt but to admit that the buck stops with the manager just as he does in his professional life.

He did criticise that before anything, did you even watch it?

Agreed (something I never thought I’d type in a response to you) but yep it just seems so obvious now. Start planning with Sancho/Bruno/rashford and greenwood. The guy who’s blatantly going to leave on a free in the summer obviously shouldn’t be first choice.

Carra absolutely laying into Ole.

"This is a manger with experience from Scandinavia and Cardiff, this will never change but OGS will never win a league title or a CL as man Utd manager".

"They need a manger that can compete against the top managers in this league, and OGS isn't one of them"

"Even if he wins the FA cup or EL that makes no difference, they still need a better manager"

He also said that Ole ha done a good job. But he has reached his ceiling and has no chance of competing with Tuchel, Klopp and Pep.

Which is what many of us here think. I would have given until the end of the season but not after this start, no point in wasting a season for nothing.

Only taken him 3 years to realise what some of us only 'fans' have been saying. Oh wait

Our holier than thou mantra, that has cost us the likes of Klopp and Tuchel and wasted seasons will cost us again surely. Sadly, there isn't a candidate like that available that we know of, but there is a season that as of this day isnt beyond saving.

There is though, they’re just currently employed elsewhere.

Yes we can’t get the current Klopp’s, Pep’s but we need to be identifying the next Nagelsmann, Tuchel, Klopp, Pep etc. & making it clear to his club we’re having him. I hate the ‘but we’re Manchester United’ tag line but sacking a manager then only going for whoever is out of contract is stupid.

Succession planning is key.

Would be happy if he never spoke on United again. Can’t be bothered with his bias. Rio wants said he had a bitterness towards United being successful so they wouldn’t outshine his success.

Go figure. Neville don’t care. Wants to go down in history as when we use to be good.

Not sure about that, he's a fan as well and surely doesn't like the pelters he gets from Carragher every week. He often goes out of his way to show he isnt biased though, it feels very forced.

Na. He chats rubbish.

Yes tonight on Monday night football which was the reason the thread was bumped. He criticised ole about maguire and still off play.
I was referring to his post match quotes, where he put all the blame on the players and nothing on Ole. Is there another one?

Doesn't stop him laying into players he doesn't like.

Absolute ludicrous last 5 mins of MNF from him, he really is clueless.

Thanks Carra
You just said everything I have been thinking.
