Nemanja Vidic - Thanks for it all

Does he get a testimonial at United when he decides to retire? he has served for 9 years but if anyone deserves one then it is Vidic!!

If anyone deserves a testimonial it would be Vidic. His service to the club has been outstanding, I would love to see him sent off in a proper testimonial.

Can't he just tell Inter to feck off and come back to us and play for van Gaal? We wouldn't need to be looking for a center back if he stayed and he was building up his fitness well enough towards the end of the season. He is likely the second biggest casualty of the Moyes management after loss of champions league football.

I think Andy Mitten intimated that he regretted his decision to leave. One more season with us, like Evra, would have been ideal, even if he played less as Evans/Jones took up the mantle. It's a shame really.

Well if he's regretting it, tough shit. He jumped ship and now he's off to a new club, he made his decision.

The tank, monster and a legend. Member of one of the strongest Manchester United side.

On form better than Rio with Terry.

First day with Inter today, feels weird :(

Vidic said: "I have joined one of the big European clubs. I don't think this is a step backwards in my career, I believe this is a step forward for me."

He added: "Even if I had stayed at United I would not have played in the Champions League.

"Inter are one of the top clubs in the world, with a great history and tradition. There was a new project in place and I immediately liked it."

feck him. Geriatric cripple.

: (

Might have got lost in translation I think what he may have meant to say was he should've gone to Italy before we signed him.

Yep. ACF Fiorentina.
'I should have' as in 'I was supposed to'.

Well he can feck right off after those disrespectful comments!

Assuming those quotes are true, that's bad form.

That was in relation to being asked if he thought Inter only being in the Europa League was a bad thing. He said that it isn't a factor in his thinking because had he stayed with us he wouldn't have played any European football and it wouldn't have bothered him.

People are seriously judging him on his answers without seeing the questions?

Absolutely nothing in his comments that seem disrespectful.

Step forward for me. - 'For me' being the key words.
Even if I had stayed at United I would not have played in the Champions League - 'Even' being the key word.

And as said above his comments "I should have arrived in Italy many years ago" almost certainly mean "I was supposed to arrive in Italy many years ago" - as in to Fiorentina just before we signed him.
As if he'd seriously say "I should have left United to come to Italy many years ago" just days or weeks after moving there.

Edit: Maybe people are joking. I can't really tell.

:S

I love the guy but its been bitter sweet these past few months, leaving for Inter rather than signing a new deal leaves things a bit sour for me.

Fine. If people want to carry on reading his remarks out of context then go ahead. Just remember that every time you do it God shoots a squirrel in the face.

He's joining a new club and of course he is not going to say that he has taken a backward step in his career. He wouldn't say that even if he joined Sunderland. He has no reason at all to be disrespectful to the club.

:lol:can't believe this page.

an epic highlights video, then people niggling at his comments!

You have to sweeten your new club up!

I can imagine some Inter twats on their equivalent forum are moaning at his comments to us saying how this was the best part of his career

He could have left years ago on his peak (with 'unhappy wife' reason), and could go to ANY club in the world, and with most likely increased wages (and less tax). But he decided to stay and became United's captain for years. Action speaks louder to me, than a mere translated words on papers.

Can't believe people will take his comments in a negative way. He has to say all the right things at his new club and rightly so. He obviously loves United, we all know that. It was his time to move on, he will forever be remembered fondly in my eyes.

Exactly. Could have left in 2010, but stayed like you said at his peak.

he gave us 8 years of great service. we won a lot of trophies with him as a key player. he also gets a proper sending off for his last appearance. i think everything is good.

a bit out of topic but my only regret was that his partner rio didn't have the opportunity to do so, despite being 12 years with us.

Wrote a response to some dude who asked what was in the report, but he proceded to delete his questions while I was typing, so here it is anyway:

For example: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/28163480

Just look at the headlines:

Nemanja Vidic says joining Inter Milan is a 'step forward'

Former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has described his move to Inter Milan as a "step forward".

Technically correct, but without context it implies that a player would rather play at Inter than United.

Or later:

He added: "Even if I had stayed at United I would not have played in the Champions League.

They conveniently forget to mention that Inter are not playing in the CL as either, which is what he responded to. They make it sound as if he brought it out to highlight United's failure.
Just a misleading report, thank to stupid journos.
Vidic would never bad mouth us, he was here for 9 fecking years of glory. Why people believe in these sensationalised crap?

Well Rio was with us for more than 10 years and was one of the main reasons for our success over the years. Still, this place goes into meltdown everytime he tweets. Don't underestimate how fickle fans can be.

This is the best tribute I have seen for Vidic. Thought it was worth a bump. Enjoy.

That was amazing mate, cheers for sharing.

It does make me very sad when I remember any of that double winning team, but the defence was particularly special for me as I always wanted to be a defender. Vidic is one of my favourite players ever and I'm gutted to see him struggling at Inter. I went to that Hull game when he made the speech and it was one of the best football nights of my life. Yes it was a horrible season, and it was only against Hull, but it doesn't matter. I saw Vida and Giggsy's last home game and Giggs nearly scored himself  That speech was amazing and just watching it back gives me goosebumps.

Fantastic video with some amazing moments, he really was a god in the air. I will forever miss prime Vidic :(
