Nemanja Vidic - Thanks for it all

He can say/do whatever he wants now but when it comes to us,he did all his talking on the pitch (place where matters). I will not say that he is a United legend but really wish that others see him as one.

Sadly that injury took at least 3 years of him.

Ah the days a defender could tackle, intercept or clear and set up an attack. What a monster he was, I'm genuinely surprised he hasn't died yet. Puts that head everywhere.

What you'd give to have a prime Vidic in this team right now, a true leader and a warrior who put his body on the line in every game.

This picture will always sum Vidic up for me:

A true beast

Because of Vidic no team was ever able to bully us physically. We were able to beat skilled sides as well as the big physical teams like Stoke all the time. Since he has gone we have been man-handled at times and always look like conceding almost every cross into the box.

He got to everything. A real freak of nature. Scored some too. Incredible defender and I don't think we will see any better at Old Trafford soon.

BEAST.

One of my favorite United players. Loved watching him play.

Absolutely mental to think that we've gone from Vida and Rio to our current lot.

Two of the best centre-halves this club has ever had, and we had them together. They were the best defensive pair in the world for a few years.

Can't recall ever being as relaxed going into big games when we had these two in their prime with Evra on the left, Neville (or whoever) on the right... one of the best defences this club will ever see.

He's been as much of an inspirational signing for Inter as Falcao was for us.

This is the best tribute I have seen for Vidic. Thought it was worth a bump. Enjoy.

I've only just got round to watching this. One of the best tribute videos I've seen full stop.

That video is excellent. I don't think i've ever been very emotional with any of the speeches our players have had (Fergie was different, of course), but I must admit I felt it hard not to tear up during his. It is always Scholes who is noted for how ordinary he is off the pitch, but Vida was exactly the same. He was a regular human being who was just supremely gifted at playing football. The greatest aerial defender I will ever see in my life.

His goal against Bayern at OT in the Moyes season was one of my favourite goals of all time. For a second, we were the United of old once again.

Wow, what a fantastic tribute. Such blatant disregard for his own body combined with , or probably more likely because of, his will to win.

Miss him so much. I think we miss a Vidic type player more than Ferdinand. There's not many around who dominate the penalty box.

God, what a player he was. This video should be shown to all of our 'defenders' untill their ears start bleeding just to put them to shame. None of our defenders is fit enough to fit his laces.

Interesting the way he went to shite so quickly and so (relatively) young. Fergie said he expected both him and Rio to be playing at a high level deep into their 30s. Which is not unreasonable when you consider how long lots of other top central defenders lasted, even in eras long before the benefits of modern sports science.

The fact that Vidic and Rio both fell off a cliff simultaneously, at almost the exact time Fergie retired is probably the single biggest factor in all our struggles since.

Ferguson leaving was the biggest factor but, that is definitely one of the major factors. And Vidic's knee issues is probably the reason why he fell off so quickly.

Good point! I'll go with second biggest for the Rio/Vidic thing. If either of them were still at United and close to their best (and able to stay fit) we'd probably be in a title race right now.

He couldn't adapt after the knee injuries. A lot of the last ditch stuff we saw from prime Vidic, even the dominance to getting to the first ball had to be calculated but I don't think that was ever his game. He was instinctive. Last season as captain he was unable to lead by example. Too much indecision over what he would do made him play like someone who tried to be more measured but was still clinging on to his past qualities which had left him. He's been horrifically found out in Italy.

Great video. Obviously easy to remember just how great he was and the player he was for us but watching that video reminded me just how many big moments he actually had. He scored some bloody big goals for us.

What I wouldn't give for a prime Vidic and Ferdinand again.

Our best player after Ronaldo during that late 2000s purple patch. It still amazes me to think that we picked up both Vidic and Evra during a winter transfer window (and at relatively reasonable prices, if memory serves.)

I don't understand. You are saying that he isn't a United legend?

Having Vidic means, you got insurance at back,no matter who the opponent striker was.he's always one step ahead.Brilliant stuff.

You obviously didn't see Torres tear him apart on several occasions then? :)

Anyway, love Vida, will always remember the header he scored away at Wigan and then he went into some commando role celebration. In fact loved those celebrations, then Ronnie (of course) took it too far, loaded up a 'bazooka' (against City) and Giggs just looked at him like WTF!

What a player he was.. Don't think there was any game during that period of Rio and Vidic, where I would be worried about a striker troubling us(maybe torres, but that's it).. Surprised this transfer isn't working out for him, thought the Italian league would suit him to a tee..
