Legend. Thanks for all the memories.
And he'll feckin murder ye!He comes from Serbia...
CorrectThe last of a dying breed? Defenders are shit now.
There were question marks over Vidic at the start, but this was the match when I realised we had a star. That tackle that led to our opening goal was a thing of beauty.

It wasn't a letter as far as I remember, he just thought he should go.I can't remember the exact quote but I remember in Fergie's book he refers to him as a dour something or other. He had a letter calling him up to the Serbian army and told Fergie he had to go and serve his time with the army for a year or two but Fergie was having none of it.

This part from the Sir Alex book summed him up quite nicely for me:
“Vidic was a dour, uncompromising sod. He was a proud Serb. In 2009, he came to see me to say he might be getting called up."
“What do you mean, called up?’ I said, alarmed. ‘Kosovo. I am going,’ he said. ‘It’s my duty.'”

I'm from Serbia and I never understood this quote and think it's misinterpreted. I know it's coming directly from the SAF, but really can't picture Vidic being patriotic and all that. Quote might be even a joke.I can't remember the exact quote but I remember in Fergie's book he refers to him as a dour something or other.
