Do they carry them points over to the new season?
Do they carry them points over to the new season?
May the guys talking about it being at 50m relax now ?
I just can't wait to enjoy our corners. Provided we have a good delivery: Pogba, Matic, Lukaku, Bailley, Lindelof will all be lukring. Might even be able to throw Zlatan in that list from January.
Why do we need players with sell on value? We are not skint.
To describe Matic Herrera and Pogba as dour is ridiculous. Pogba is one of the most exciting and creative players in the world.I think you'd need to. Part of the reason that midfield looks dour to me is that you don't exactly have shining lights in the front three to provide spark and creativity. Asking that midfield three to carry that weight is asking a lot.
I don't see how matic improves on carrick in possession.
I'm looking forward to this. Not only is he competent on the ball, but he'll allow players like Pogba and Herrera to move further up the pitch and get involved in our attacks more. He may not be a muppet signing like Fabinho or Cockdecker or whatever player some folk appear to have just heard about ten minutes ago, but if Mourinho can get the best out of him then we'll have a very solid DM. And for me that's the most important thing; what Mourinho can get out of him. Time and again players have come here with big expectations and not met them, but Jose has worked with Nemanja before and if he thinks he's good enough for us then I'll take it.
Younger doesn't however, necessarily indicate better either. Matic is easily better than both Krychowiak and Carvalho, while Fabinho is also relatively unproven over a few seasons.I like Matic, but there are definitely much younger options out there. Krychowiak, Fabinho, Carvalho to name a few. Mou seems to want someone however to slot in straight away
I suppose there is this hope he can get back to that level, where for a period of time, he was the best CM in the league. I don't know if he will, we'll see.Yup and now we are signing Matic he has instantly become the world's best DM... Although very good the guy has been nothing compared to his first season at Chelsea
Phew! I'll be able able to sleep better knowing we spent £40m instead of £50m. That extra £10m would have put us out of business.
Sort of agree, but last year we had a better set of giants, with Ibra,Fellaini and Smalling, and scored about 2 from set pieces all season.
Lindelof doesn't seem particularly good in the air, and do you remember Matic scoring many headers? Or Bailly?

I can't begin to fathom how some people are anything other than overjoyed at this possible transfer. The guy is a beast, every team needs a Matic!

Only if you take an incredibly pessimistic view on it. The alternative, and one far more likely is they sign a second player in the same player we've passed on and instead signed a Chelsea player and their top target.Media tried to spin Bakayoko joining Chelsea to include us and make it look as though we missed out on him even though we had never registered an interest.
So can you imagine the headlines if Chelsea went and signed a player we wanted last summer a player Mourinho has spoke highly of?
Hated, adored, but never ignored.
Last season we had one of the tallest teams in the league.
We were absolutely terrible for corners. It was so bad, that there were times when I felt it would be better to just give the GK the ball, so we didn't waste time on taking a corner and allowing the opposing team to hit us on the counter.
This season, I don't see this changing. Our players could be surrounded by midgets and we still wouldn't do anything from a corner.
Do you think he's going to be shit for us?
BrilliantI searched and found one poster using that term once and the a bunch of posts by r'holler complaining about people using the term.
Perhaps you'll be even happier if Juve turns their attention to Emre Can now that they've missed out on Matic. He's a good sub for Herrera when Herrera is tired or over used. You may win two trophies again with him (not the CL) but with negligible improvement to your 6th place.
I'm happy with this signing. Perisic next please.
You always pretend to be happy about things that you aren't really happy about, such as when Liverpool get knocked out of a cup, or we buy a good player. He's a good sub for Herrera when Herrera is tired or over used. That's a good photoshop if it's not real.Somebody on /r/reddevils posted this:

@Luzhniki2008 it's been posted several times here too.

I definitely understand your concern just as I can understand those happy about it. I'm personally on the fence, wasn't particularly excited nor put off by the rumors and now will just hope for the best.Paying that sort of money shouldn't be resting on hope they will return to their best form at 29, that's why i would have prefered signing someone younger

Chelsea reject, too, I believe.A Liverpool fan mocking us for signing a starter from the champions. Wow.
Surely rival fans recognise that we have an excellent couple of mids in Pogba and Herrera who will perform better with a defensive guy behind them, rather than either sacrificing Herrera a bit, or relying on a now 36 year old Carrick?
It's about forming a team structure, not just putting fancy players in there. You look at Liverpool, haven't resolved their two main weaknesses still, weak defense, and lack of squad strength.
Instead, they've added another fancy winger!
