My second choice after Fabinho, so I am delighted. He brings experience and quality despite the naysayers. Bit overpriced, but not really a bother.

Hopefully he'll return to his peak 2015 levels. DMs that are sitters tend to decline very slowly and age well, so this could actually turn out to be a surprisingly beneficial deal in the long term, not just the short.

Nah we've been open in midfield for too long and the over reliance on Carrick has been pitiful. Herrera did an admirable job there but it's not really his game and Schneiderlin never came out of his shell.
Why? Matic is the only true defensive minded player there, with Herrera's all round ability and Pogba's attacking prowess I'd say it's a pretty balanced midfield.
Would you have taken Leicester City's squad from two seasons ago? Before they won the league I mean. There's more to winning these competitions than how it looks on paper.

Speaking of Casemiro, he's a great example of the value of a signing of that nature. A big part of of why Kroos and Modric flourished (ffs to think people here see Kroos as a defensive mid...)
How would such a a midfield look differently then? You've got your creative box-to-box midfielder pushed forward into the 10 position, for extra protection. And instead of that 10, you're playing a defensive midfielder in Matic, whilst pushing Herrera a bit forward, despite the fact that defensive midfield is the only position he's genuinely excelled in for you.
You've switched from a potential midfield of Herrera/Pogba with a 10 in front to a midfield of Herrera/Pogba with a defensive midfielder behind them.

Totally agree, Pogba isn't going to turn into some unstoppable creative force just because Matic is there, it means Mata or Mkhitaryan will likely be forced wide and be equally as ineffective as they were last season. Herrera's also not a creative player at all, he's tidy on the ball in the same way Kante is but doesn't have the passing range or intelligence to really be a threat going forward.
Herrera is a very balanced midfielder. He has all attributes to either support Pogba in offense or support Matic in defence. I don't know what you're getting at.

And I'm sure that means Pogba and even Herrera have more freedom to go forward. Herrera performed well for us as a defensive midfielder but he has more to offer than that. It's a perfectly balanced midfield.

IF he photoshopped the head that well nothing will prevent him from photoshopping the number. I meant to put "if" on bald because who knows, but the difference between head and body is strange.

With the light above him reflecting on the top of his hair, as well as finding a photo of Nemanja Matic's face from an upwards perspective as this photo appears, and a photograph of a United player in the new training shirt with a number that is currently unoccupied (though I'm aware the numbers on training kits is sometimes a bit random).
This is a very good singing. It makes our midfield one of the best in the league. Pogba, Herrera and Matic is a very balanced midfield. However don't think we need to play all 3 against smaller teams. We should go 4231 with Pogba and one of Matic/Herrera in matches where we expect to dominate.

It's just the perspective of him looking down, so body is closer to the camera than his head. Not saying it's 100% real, but if it's faked it's been done by someone who is very talented with photoshop.
Since I get the impression noone - including Paul himself - knows how to use Pogba's talent to the maximum, I hope that with Matić (positionally flawless) and Herrera (restless and defensively more than capable) he will be able to roam quite freely and play his best. If that's what Mourinho thinks - and it seems like he assumed Matić is a better fit than, say, Fabinho - I am happy to trust him. Midfield three of Pogba Matić Herrera looks to me like the best and most balanced trio we had since late Fergie.
