Bakayoko is a completely different type of midfielder. He's a box to box, not a standard pure DM like Matic. Conte wanted another high energy, vertically mobile midfielder to put next to Kante. It doesn't mean Matic is shit, Conte simply just changed their system.

I will try and put this in simple terms Chelsea buy Matic's replacement for 40m he is 22 we buy Matic's for 40m he is 29 next week.
 
We desperately needed a dm, him and Carrick will be good for this season. I still hope we bring in a young talented cm especially if Fellaini is off.

It's not a bad signing - he greatly improves our midfield. Let's not forget that he played nearly every game for Chelsea last season. Yes the fee is high, but it was always going to be high given that we're buying him off a direct rival. I would like to see another CM coming in to be honest, especially with Fellaini leaving. And hopefully another winger.

Overall I'm content with this signing.

Their replacement is currently inferior to Matic but granted Bakayoko is still young. Maybe this is just a transfer where all sides are happy?

Fair enough. Our midfield is similar to last year Bayern's and current Barca's midfield but it is debatable as to who is better among the three.

Or you can say we replaced Fellaini with Matic and they replaced Matic with French Fellaini.

Not an exciting signing but will hopefully free up some of our other players to be more attacking. Also allows us to rotate Carrick.

Now go for a LW or RW and the squad is looking better and with more depth.

It's a 3 man midfield, meaning there isn't a strict number 10, just like Real Madrid. What on earth are you talking about?

The whole point of buying a DM is to give freedom for Pogba to focus on attack. Fabinho isn't the kind who just sits back and does the dirty work. He's more versatile than that and Pogba would have to spend more time and energy on defending if he were to play with Fabinho or Bakayoko as opposed to Matic.

I can't think of many better players than Matic to have behind Pogba and Herrera. Kante, Carvalho or Casemiro perhaps

We have one DM and one creative player in Matic and Pogba. But we lack someone who can dictate play but Herrera is defensively better and can get in a few brilliant assists. So our midfield three isn't perfect but it's pretty strong. If we get Veratti, I'd call it perfect.

Many teams which don't have this perfect fix use other formations like 343. But for such a midfield three to work, you need three attackers who have are more goal scorers than creative players. Players who mainly come alive in the final third providing the goal or assists and have excellent movement.

Pogba serves both roles to be honest. Can be the passer and the creative player/dribbler etc.

Delighted with this. We've signed two premier league proven quality players in key positions so far. We don't have any worries about either of them adapting to the league and both players that Jose knows how to get the best out of.

Brilliant signing. Always admired him - This is like replacing Fellaini with a guy who is just as physical, but doesn't create clumpsy free kicks and can actually play the ball and keep up high pace.

I watched him live vs United a couple of years ago, and he looks a beast. Great buy.

What the feck you talking about. When it comes to banning, i really couldnt give rat`s ass, this place became such a piss pool its unreal. Also if we sign Matic and i am in match day thread, at some point i will be banned because will be reading all kinds of shit regardless is it fault of X player or not.
 
Another signing Fergie would have made I think. PL proven player who won a league and will suit us.
 
Happy with this signing. We've been missing something in the midfield now for a while and I was more concerned about this signing not happening than not signing a winger.
