No, I didn't. You just randomly made the comparison with Terry - a racist who's 8 years older than Matic, and thus I took the time to point out that if Terry was Matic's age, and not a racist, then yes, the same logic would definitely apply.

I agree we need more winning mentality within our team.

I don't see why John Terry has been brought into it, your logic of a younger JT with an altogether personality is a bit silly. Basically saying if John terry was Matic, would you sign him, so the question should simply be, should we sign matic which is what the thread is actually about

I don't know why everyone else seems to not want him, but I am stoked on Matic coming to United. He isn't a very "sexy" player but he does the dirty work that needs to be done in the midfield. Vision and passing could be better, but his defensive prowess is amazing. Good signing if its true. He and Pogba together will be tough for most teams to handle.

If Duncan Castles is right, which might be more likely after the PSG fabinho tweet, conte is only thinking about selling Matic if Chelsea get TWO midfielders and they haven't even signed bakayoko yet.

As of right now, it is somewhat plausible that we will not get Matic or Fabinho.
 
I wanted Matic at the start of the summer, before there were any links to him. So I'm delighted at the prospect of signing him.

Really? I have always thought that the Fabinho was the media trolling us. I think we are in for him for sure. But, probably nowhere close to getting a signature.

I kinda thought Matic was a done deal just pending paperwork, medical, etc. Fee and wages agreed upon, just not finalized?
 
For some reason most people don't want him, probably because he is not a sexy sounding signing - the United Stand bloke keeps harping how boring he is, but I want him. I even prefer him to Fabinho, because he is PL proven and has good working relationship with JM. He will improve us a lot, not only defensively but also offensively - last year he got 7 assists in the PL - that's more than even our best attacking players got.

Antonio Conte, who as Record Sport Online reported earlier this month, has threatened to resign his position if his own transfer plans are not met, does not want to allow Matic to leave unless two new central midfielders are brought to Stamford Bridge.

If Castles is correct, conte will veto any sale of matic to MUFC unless two midfielders are signed.

I personally don't think we should ask one of the top performing fullbacks in Europe last season to move positions again at the age of 31, it's not as though we have a lot of equivalent cover for right back, he's by some distance our first choice. We'd have to buy a new RB. The only reason I could see for something like this would be if we signed Dani Alves and used Valencia as the RCM to cover the RB against a break. He would not bring any balance to the midfield though.

I think a solid CDM would improve us more than a RB would were Darmian, Tuanzebe can do a job in what Mourinho wants of a RB too. Selmedo also available.
 
don't care if we get him over fabinho anymore. I just hope Matic and Morata are done around the tour. I want them to knit into the team ASAFP. I want to see pogba and herrera build an understanding with matic early on.

Just get the ball moving!!

That's very important, to have the players before during the pre-season friendlies in order to gel with the rest, and start the Premier League running.

I thought aslong as they are not on there own it doesn't matter. Plus I don't think Adidas actually care too much what add Matic is in, he's hardly Messi.

Really hope this doesn't happen.

We should be buying younger players this summer.

Older, experienced players make sense when you already have a good team but ours has wholes all over it.
 
The Matic rumours will be back again in a week or two, i can bet on it. As soon as Bakayoko is signed, this will heat up
 
How would he play with Pogba? Matic is left footed with Pogba liking to play on the left side. I can see it working in a 3 man midfield, but a 2?

Pogba has played like that with Matuidi in a 2 for france. Don't think it will hurt him too much tbh.

Recently?
I know it was the case at the Euros and was a large reason why they looked disjointed. Matuidi and Pogba play similiar roles.

The left foot/left side thing doesn't apply so much in central midfield.

I'm the opposite, think hed be a quality addition, won the league twice being a 1st choice midfielder, that kind of experience is incredibly valuable.

He'd also free up Pogba to basically do what the feck he wants
 
I want this to happen. I just don't want it to be the only CM we get. I'd be underwhelmed if it was Matic only, but Matic and Fabinho? I'm on board with that.
 
Wonder if Chelsea will still be willing to sell him to us now we've nabbed their top target :lol:
