State of this thread. Utterly convinced hardly anyone here has watched Nemanja Matic.
Since when do you have to watch players to rate them during offseason?State of this thread. Utterly convinced hardly anyone here has watched Nemanja Matic.
It's not all doom and gloom. Your assessment is correct, and that's why we're not sad to see him go. It looks like he can't perform for any Chelsea anymore. However, if anyone is going to revitalize him, it'd be Jose. A top Matic helped us stay in the title race longer than we should have been there in 13-14 and one of the big reasons we won it the following year. If he gets back to anything like that, I'd say that's worth at least 12 points on the table.
José Mourinho is intent on signing Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic for around £40m, with Manchester United hopeful of completing the transfer this week.
The 28-year-old is understood to have agreed personal terms with United and the two clubs have agreed his price.
Matic, who will earn around £155,000 a week, is expected to take a medical in the coming days, though the death of Mourinho’s father, Félix, on Sunday may slow the deal. The manager is in Portugal for the funeral but the midfielder is expected to become a United player before the club travel to the United States for a pre-season tour on 9 July, at the very latest
Looks like this one is happening.
Jamie Jackson, doubt it.
What I don't get is how the feck we're paying 40m.

Seeing this same thought all over the internet. Lukaku scored more goals than Diego in a much worse side with much worse service. He's much better in the air and he won't get wound up and lose his head like Diego. Bakayoko has the same physical tools as Matic but is much younger, better with the ball at his feet, and a better passer.I would rather have Matic than Bakayoko personally. Like Lukaku in for Costa I think Chelsea are downgrading again.
Journo's like him do that all of the time, regardless of how shite their sources are.He didn't use any vague words, he is very specific in the article which makes me believe this is happening.
Matic or Fabinho would spend half their time on the bench. I don't see it.I think there is still room for Fabinho even if Matic arrives.
Matic, Herrera, Fabinho, Pogba, Fellaini, Carrick. Good options.
This is happening. I've come to terms with it.
Hope he plays his socks off. Been average for two seasons.
He was below average, looked utterly out of place at times. He wasn't average this season.

What rival? I keep reading how Conte wanting to sell Matic is this major warning light but what about the fact that nobody seems to want to sign Fabinho? Even Juve wanted him for right back.Signing a nearly 29 year old while we'll probably let Fabinho slip away to a rival & be a star, then like usual we'll all go into meltdown as everyone elses signings are great & wondering why we weren't in for any seemingly perfect fit players... great summer ahead!

Something just isn't right above him
I can't pretend I watch Chelsea, I'm not boring and lonely.
But how can a player who's been a regular in teams that have won the title in 2 of the last 3 seasons be that bad?
Anyway, with Chelsea about to sign the poundland Pogba, I can see this escalating if it's true
Looks like this one is happening.
Mourinho is still targeting Real Madrid’s Álvaro Morata, though the Spanish club’s wish to sign David de Gea means his pursuit of the centre-forward may drag on.
40m for a player trying to be offloaded by chelsea - nearly 29. I seriously think we need a DOF and plan long term recruiting.
Moyes fellaini, LVG Bastian, Jose Matic
I have no issues with this signing as such but think its a short term move and we will need a rebuild in 2 years.
in the same article
Perez has already come out and talked about how well he gets on with navas now and also that he hasn't spoken to De Gea since 2015.

Somebody might so sign him but there are 3/4 top sides looking for a holding midfielder and the only side linked to him is us, even that is dubious at best.Someone will come in for him even if it's out of no where, see how fast City signed Bernardo Silva, or Thiago fiasco all over again
