What the feck is what? You said he was important, most people who watched them said he wasn't, and that is why they are happy to offload him as Conte clearly sees him as easily upgradeable due to the fact he's slow, lumbering and already on the decline.

This is just another fake transfer news. This guy has already betrayed mourinho once two seasons ago.
Besides fabinho is a player which is interested in joining us, and is much better than Matic. Mourinho is not an idiot. We won't be signing Matic.

The entire squad was piss poor that season so there was clearly a wider problem at hand than something player specific for him to be so poor in that season.

He was a good player for Conte last season I thought. I agree that Fabinho looks the better player in almost every department, but I trust Mourinho with his defensive minded acquisitions (attacking not so much).

To hazard a guess, I think it's that Mourinho likes the security of knowing Matic' psyche. Too many players here surprised him with a weaker mentality and he probably has comfort that Matic was one of the few players who will try and perform even when under scrutiny (Matic spoke highly of Mourinho throughout his tenure despite being publicly criticised). Lets see anyway, Ogden isn't as accurate as he was.

No, he was so pivotal to them that they would sell him to one of their main rivals. He was at best a capable one dinensional stop gap until Conte could get him the feck out and move on to what he believes are better things.

2 league titles in 3 years and he's played 36 and 35 appearances - to say he's not key is bollocks.

We'd be better with him in our 11.

Exactly. It's not a coincidence that his midfield partners have been the best midfielders in the league over 2 of the last 3 years. Matic provides the balance.

So we should fill our team with average 29 year old workhorses for inflated fees.
We would need to replace them in 2 years while the teams that ripped us off will have replaced them with better players.
 
The thing is, Matić usually plays on the left of midfield like Pogba, can't really figure how him and Pogba would display. The same happens with Bailly and Lindelöf at right center-back, actually.

You don't half get hysterical at times. Look, Matic is fairly uninspiring, but stop pretending as if he's some mug that has wormed his way into the Chelsea first team, like some fan winning a competition.

Matic is a good player. He's sometimes very good. He isn't anything special, and I personally wouldn't spend too much money on him, but let's be rational about it.

Mourinho knows how effective he is and he wants him to replicate it here. That's all that matters as a United fan.

Who is talking about fancy brazilians? He has had one great first year. Then he was wank. Last year he was average and Conte obviously feels he can have better players in his position.

And I'm lazy, someone do this thing where you counter the "my player has such and such stats and won this and that with his team, he can not be bad" boys with stats from a random crap player who noone liked and was carried to titles by his teammates.

He'd sit infront of our back 4 and be a shield, Carrick is far from mobile and offers the same (the difference being Carrick can actually play a bit in addition).
If Mourinho wants a big, tall, strong defensively aware shield stood infront of the back 4... then we could do worse than Matic.

Utter bollocks again. You can't carry players when they play 35 games a season. He's effective at what he does and a key position for us next season.

Like I say he's not a flashy player so he's not going to get rave reviews from your average fan like Kev off Red Cafe is he.

Yep he's doing this exactly : Pogba 24, Bailly 23, Lindelof 22 and trying to sign Morata 24. All of them are short-term plan, sure.

Matic was effective in Mourinho's system and he wants him again.

He probably doesn't want him. At all. Why would he after publicly criticizing him in a post match interview on the beeb saying Matic specifically was absolutely rubbish. By all accounts he was also one of the group who made life difficult for him during that stint.

I don't believe this news.

You're right, but this transfer season he's apparently looking for some experience guys also, like the talked about Perišić and now Matić.

I am not praising him I just do not think he would sell us a player that could improve us since we are supposed to be a title rival.

Maybe he isn't, because that report isn't true? So far we haven't signed Dier, Matic or Perisic.

Just like last season. Last season he brought Pogba 24 and Bailly 23 ( young ) - Mikhi 27 and Zlatan 35 ( more experienced and finished article ). This season he's getting Lindelof 22 and maybe Morata 24 ( still young ) and trying to get Perisic ( more experienced ) and we still don't know who's the defender we're going to get. It's the same strategy.

The squad is really young itself and there're only 3 players who are past 30 ( Valencia, Carrick and Rooney with the later may leave this summer ). We're not an old aging squad at all so adding one or two 27-29 years old players isn't a problem.
