Matic is decent but £40m is madness. 
PSG wont deal until they sell Verrati. Even then I expect them to go for someone more high profile. Juve are more interested in signing Douglas Costa since they can only sign one more foreign player. City arent linked as much as we have been.
Quality player in a position we lack. Hope he signs.

The signing of a holding midfielder is as much about getting the best out of Pogba than anything else. Matic may not be a fantastic footballer but he is physical, proven in the PL, and positionally very good in a defensive capacity. All of these things give Pogba more freedom which can only benefit us.
The price quoted by Di marzio is 50 million euros. Also personal terms are being negotiated too. So that plays a role also.

Mourinho is known to get the best deals for his clubs, you can see how chelsea sold high even for shit players and before pogba his highest spent on one player was 35 million.

I don't mind us signing Matic as long as we sign Fabinho with him. He's a good midfielder and we'll need options with being in the CL
The only sources reporting Matic stories are English journalists only. They're probably being briefed by United so won't trust them much.
It may seem an underwhelming signing, but Matic may be just what we need and strenghten us more than what his ability as a footballer suggests.
If there was rumors of us selling Herrera to Chelsea this place would meltdown. The fact that our resident Chelsea fans are shrugging their shoulders over this should say something.

I'm content with this if he is more of a squad player than a crucial first team player. I think people are really overlooking how light we are in midfield in terms of numbers, I definitely think we'll bring in another midfielder and like most on here I hope it's Fabinho, and I'm confident that that'll be the case.

Why do people keep saying is it your money? What's that got to do with anything? It's my club and I don't want us to waste money on older players. I'm not greatly opposed to Matic, but only for a reasonable amount of money where we won't lose too much. He's getting to almost 29/30 years old - no one knows for sure how well a high level sports person's body will react at that age. It's therefore stupid from a business point of view to spend huge sums on a player that's not even that impressive.

How people can outright say Fabinho is better than Matic beggars belief. Firstly, Fabinho has played most of his career at RB and not in MF where we are crying out for proven quality in that position. He has had one good season compared to Matic's 4. Yes Matic had a bad start to his second season at Chelsea, but all their squad were shite that year. Foolish to judge him based on that. Fabinho might not settle here straight away, potential Mkhi situation. Pretty sure he doesn't even speak English. Matic has none of these issues and knows the English game and is in his prime. Would rather this happened any day of the week.
Two of his signings last season have not convinced everyone. Mkhitaryan and Zlatan, the latter I disagree with but you'll find opinions firmly split on it here.

To me Mourinho has not done enough yet for United to earn my unconditional trust. Just like I didn't throw myself in LvG or Moyes' laps just because they became our manager. Mourinho has to show that his last season at Chelsea was an anomaly (and he's had a number of horrific signings who got near to no appearences there during that time, salah, babasomething, cuadrado, and surely a few more).
