The last quoted price for Fabinho was 35m + 5m in bonuses. I dont think they will go cheaper than that. And even at that price he is cheaper than Matic. As far as competition for Fabinho I dont think there is any.

There has been scattered rumors with City, Juve, PSG.

spend to indulge the present manager.
Or we could sign other, better players with a beter age and still win a title and end up with players that are still useful two years on?

Astonishing idea I know, needs some imagination (maybe more than our current manager possesses), live a little.

And who is this better player in Mourinhos system? If Mourinho thought the Monaco Messiah was better than Matic he could sign him easily, he clearly doesnt.

Maybe its the fans who are need some imagination, especially on the subject of "Viera on steroids"

PSG wont deal until they sell Verrati. Even then I expect them to go for someone more high profile. Juve are more interested in signing Douglas Costa since they can only sign one more foreign player. City arent linked as much as we have been.

£40M for a guy with no resale value? Are we fecking mad? If Mourinho can't be flexible and needs to surround himself with former 'yes men' then can we ask him to pay towards this supposed transfer? It's a crazy amount of money for someone who's surplus to Chelsea's requirements.

No resale value? Jesus. Is it your money? What's wrong with just buying someone to improve the team now? Also, why should we be buying someone with a view to selling them on. Some clubs yes, not Manchester United.

The signing of a holding midfielder is as much about getting the best out of Pogba than anything else. Matic may not be a fantastic footballer but he is physical, proven in the PL, and positionally very good in a defensive capacity. All of these things give Pogba more freedom which can only benefit us.

The price quoted by Di marzio is 50 million euros. Also personal terms are being negotiated too. So that plays a role also.
It was mentioned he is wanted by us, PSG,City.
Mourinho is known to get the best deals for his clubs, you can see how chelsea sold high even for shit players and before pogba his highest spent on one player was 35 million.

Fix that mess of a post first. And who said I was specifically talking about Fabinho? That Vieira on steroids joke has run its course too, using it twice in the same thread within 15 mins is enough. We know who you are looking down upon that beautifully straight and fully powdered up nose of yours.

I don't mind us signing Matic as long as we sign Fabinho with him. He's a good midfielder and we'll need options with being in the CL

The only sources reporting Matic stories are English journalists only. They're probably being briefed by United so won't trust them much.

If there was rumors of us selling Herrera to Chelsea this place would meltdown. The fact that our resident Chelsea fans are shrugging their shoulders over this should say something.

and when he gets sacked a season or so after winning that title we are left with his old crap to clear out. I want more forward thinking.

Ah bore off with this utter shite. Which one of Joses signings didn't work for us last season - and was so utterly terrible that it makes everyone here become the ultimate experts and know he hasn't a feckin clue all of a sudden? Are Lindelof and Pogba too old and lack of forward thinking?

Jose is a man with a very a clear vision of who he wants and what way he wants to set up.

Matic is premier league proven, and would improve us in that midfield 3.

Some of the utter nonsense here is mind boggling. You'd swear we were looking at resigning Bebe.

I'm content with this if he is more of a squad player than a crucial first team player. I think people are really overlooking how light we are in midfield in terms of numbers, I definitely think we'll bring in another midfielder and like most on here I hope it's Fabinho, and I'm confident that that'll be the case.

The fact Chelsea don't want / have better than Herrera also probably suggests we are going backwards.

Why do people keep saying is it your money? What's that got to do with anything? It's my club and I don't want us to waste money on older players. I'm not greatly opposed to Matic, but only for a reasonable amount of money where we won't lose too much. He's getting to almost 29/30 years old - no one knows for sure how well a high level sports person's body will react at that age. It's therefore stupid from a business point of view to spend huge sums on a player that's not even that impressive.

Do you really believe he'll improve us to such an extent that we can beat Chelsea or City to the title? I don't imho.

After the barren years when we were desperate for a midfielder, im all for any midfielder, let's sign as many of the feckers as we can!

How people can outright say Fabinho is better than Matic beggars belief. Firstly, Fabinho has played most of his career at RB and not in MF where we are crying out for proven quality in that position. He has had one good season compared to Matic's 4. Yes Matic had a bad start to his second season at Chelsea, but all their squad were shite that year. Foolish to judge him based on that. Fabinho might not settle here straight away, potential Mkhi situation. Pretty sure he doesn't even speak English. Matic has none of these issues and knows the English game and is in his prime. Would rather this happened any day of the week.

Two of his signings last season have not convinced everyone. Mkhitaryan and Zlatan, the latter I disagree with but you'll find opinions firmly split on it here.

And telling people to bore off when you pull out the golden oldie "premier league prewvun yeahhhh" from your holster mr. billy the kid?

To me Mourinho has not done enough yet for United to earn my unconditional trust. Just like I didn't throw myself in LvG or Moyes' laps just because they became our manager. Mourinho has to show that his last season at Chelsea was an anomaly (and he's had a number of horrific signings who got near to no appearences there during that time, salah, babasomething, cuadrado, and surely a few more).

If only we could sign a player who has been key to 2 PL wins in a position of need :(
If you ask anyone who were Chelsea's key players last season - the whole defence, the wing backs, Kante, Hazard, Costa, maybe the odd mention of Pedro and Willian....I doubt anyone would say that Matic was key.

Liking this signing more as the days go one. Everyone talking negative, but name me a better midfielder we have been linked with that passes better than him. Fabinho and Dier don't.

I did have to think did I even notice him when they batters us 4-0 or when we done a job on them at old trafford, but they I had to ask do other teams ever remember Carrick against them; probably not.. but we know how crucial Carrick is to us.

Yeah, so key that at the first opportunity they are selling him, kinda like how we sold Scholes and Keane after '99........

I wasn't talking classic cars though, I'm talking rusty old pick-up truck with an owner called Festus.

Sounds festive.

Sounds more like you are talking about buying a crap 1998 Toyota, but is Matic really that crap? A midfield of Pogba, Matic and Fellaini would be absolutely woeful though - the combined turning circle of a shipyard.

Is that Mourinho or is that Chelsea, they are a well oiled machine when it comes to managerial turn overs. I would think a lot of the players they sign aren't always management driven. As good as Willian was for him last season, you think he was on Mourinho's shopping list when he got the job?

Joke? take it up with his fanclub in the Fabinho thread if you don't like the description.

You have already wound yourself up about Matic to the point of saying that you would still be unhappy with the signing if he was part of a title winning United side. I rest my case regarding your huff on this subject

If they sell him and try to replace him with Babayoko, they might beg to differ.

Hope this is true would be a cracking signing for us whilst weakening the champions.

I'd say he's that crap, yes, a lumberer that is unsuited to cover the ground needed when Pogba is your main CM.
