NBC Sports is getting the Premier League Next Season

Have to say I like the coverage and the options so far. As long as they don't screw up the only match of the day that matters......

How do you use the LiveExtra website? I see the games they have showing but I can't click on them or open any actual video

You have to authenticate with a cable provider account. Also, if you're using Chrome on a Mac, it might not work. I had to use it in Firefox.

Cheers for the tips. Tried Firefox, no different. I don't even see where it wants me to authenticate, there's nothing clickable on the Live Extra page for me. I tried to find their app in the App Store but couldn't, the NBC page just links to apple.com. I'm confused. :(

That live extra app is awful, constantly freezing up on my phone.

Yes, their website is showing all of the games live in great quality (on their web and on their apps). Need to have an existing TV service for it to work though.

Ahh so it wouldn't work with me considering I steal cable. Oh well.. I thought the coverage was pretty bad due to the commentator being ahead of the actual game..

Happy that the Swansea game had a couple of English commentators. It could have been a lot worse. Hopefully, this was the shape of things to come.

More pleased with the initial weekend's coverage than I have been with FSC the last few years. Shame they're not carrying La Liga, Bundesliga, or Serie A. I hope to see more MLS matches televised.

same here.
I looked up FSC on the TV guide to see what they're showing (now that nobody's watching them anymore) and I saw they're airing re-runs of Being Liverpool.

Got to say NBC have got off to a very promising start. FSC's coverage was never as slick, accessible, or comprehensive. And I was a big fan of FSC.

Has ESPN3 lost all its rights to the big leagues? I only see Eredivisie and isolated South American games in their listings, do they at least keep Serie A? I enjoyed watching ESPN3 online at work. They do still seem to have the internationals at least.

did anyone else catch that bit about Usain Bolt and Man Utd?
Bolt was talking about how he loved watching RVN and then they cut to that picture of our famous Dutch striker and Bolt together.

 That's a great pic, I'll post it up later.

So the main NBC channel carried United, NBCSN carried a few games and then they had some special channels that were on just for the other games. A few technical glitches but overall coverage seemed good.

wasn't sure how the Match of the Day program would look and when I saw Lineker I thought it's a direct feed with the MOTD music and all that.
But then it became apparent he was just doing a promo for the US version.
Still n'all, can't complain at all. Pretty good coverage and compared to where we were just 5 or 10 years ago I'm loving it.

The way they're pretty much taking the piss of the usual American coverage with that ad you'd expect that they want to change it a bit to suit football (SOCCER!!) better. Otherwise I don't really see the point in that ad, although it's quite amusing.

Depends on the general opinion in the US of course. Do the ones who live there know if people are generally happy with the American-style coverage? Do they want a more European approach (where commentators and experts actually use the correct footballing terms etc.) or do they prefer the previous commentary with slightly changed NFL terms?
Americans I know generally loathe the American style of commentating.

So far it has been much better than I expected it would be.

I think this is a bit of a step back for me. Fox staggered all the games, so i could easily avoid the scores, DVR which games i wanted and then watch them.

Now I've got a choice of a couple of games.

I'll be watching a lot less football this season

But it's your choice what to watch. I love that if a game stinks (like the Newcastle game today), I can switch to a game that has more to offer. I end up recording one, watching the others (flipping around to find a good one) and I have one going on my laptop. By the time the 2nd half rolls around I can settle on which game is the best. They also show the other games on replay throughout the week.

your the first person i know who thinks less live games is better. I'd much rather choose what I watch then have to wait until later.
