NBA Thread 2013-2014

Damn, OKC really capitulated. They were always going to struggle without Serge, but today's shocking performance was something even more than that. Looks like more rings for Duncan and Parker, because they surely have both Heat and Pacers beat.

It's possible. Though I said if we go out, I'll want the Pacers to win it, not that they would.

Yes.
Ah, got you.

It's clearly the Spurs' year. And like I said last year, they're the team I respect the most from the other teams. And imo they don't get enough credit for their achievements in the last 15 years.

I actually don't understand why anybody would hate them.. They have very likeable players, great coach, and have been very successful recently. What's to hate about that?

And by the way, I always thought SA were the United of the NBA. Pop being SAF, continuously proving his ability to build championship teams, relying more on the team than on individual talents, and players like Duncan being the likes of Giggs and Scholes. Great players, very humble, loyal to their club, with very little drama off the court..

Parker would have to be the "Giggs"

God that seems like a lifetime ago. And it wasn't even vintage-Dirk Mavs either, it was mostly Ellis lol.
George is cleared for game 3.. I'm not sure there was anything wrong with him in the first place to be honest. He had no signs of concussion at any point apart of him saying after the game that he blacked out with some feeling of nausea during the game, something he actually denied when he was checked during the game.

It could very well be a way to try and lower the pressure on himself because he had a bad night (to feel more confident in the next game now that he's ok). Not saying it's 100%, but there is a good possibility that might be the case.

Awful start for everybody, but nobody can beat Bosh's start. Miss, miss, turnover, turnover, give up a lay-up, give up a three point play, all in 6 minutes. Impressive.

Well that was a bit of a shitty second half from the Pacers... Basically the pattern in this series seems to be, Indiana has the matchup advantages and start to use them early. But as soon as Miami turn up the energy and start trapping and rotating intensely, Indiana just aren't capable of beating that by making quicker decisions and passes. It also seems to be wearing Indiana out physically, given that they sort of stopped defending at the end of both games 2 and 3.

Westbrook improved and played well tonight good win by OKC
Ibaka was the difference for me though

It was SO good to have Ibaka back. I hope he'll be able to fight through the rest of the series. Westbrook also played quite well despite still missing some shots. At least with Ibaka back it will be the West final it should be.

Well this is a bit annoying once more, no real challenge for Miami in this game so far. Indiana doing stupid things on both ends of the floor, and even lacking energy getting into their offense and getting back in transition, which at this stage is completely inexcusable. Not fun to watch teams who don't even try to do the right things.

They (the Pacers) need to feck off. They've been an embarrassment this entire playoffs.

I had hopes that they'd come to life a bit in this series, given that this was their aim the whole year, and their team is sort of built to matchup well against Miami. But apart from game 1, it hasn't happened, and they've just been completely flat the whole time. Miami will get to the final without having been challenged at all this year, which given the fact that they're not quite as good as last season, reflects the embarrassment that is the Eastern conference at the moment.

A very important win. Indiana won't go away though..

Hope Anderson is ok.
I think this is them done. They may have one final hurrah and win game 5, but I don't see them winning two in a row. They basically haven't been able to put two games in a row together all playoffs.

That's what I meant with go away. They won't give up game 5 easily. Miami will have to earn a tough win tomorrow if they want to close the series, which I suspect they want badly (to get some rest).

Obviously Miami are strong favorites to win the series now.

Yeah fair enough. I think teams winning from 3-1 down has happened (only about 8 times) so I was interpreting it more along the lines of Indiana getting themselves back in the series, which I see zero chance of happening given it would involve winning in Miami.

I think it's done. Miami will win. The Pacers are just so inconsistent and frustrating. I'm glad OKC could level it up with the Spurs. Still have to win on the road which will be tough but at the moment the momentum is with the Thunder. Also, Adams has really impressed me this season. I hope he continues to develop.

KD may be the MVP, but it would be awesome if he got his ring this season and Russ won the Finals MVP.

Bosh talking to ESPN radio when asked if he wants to stay in Miami for next season:
“Yeah, I mean, I don’t want to go anywhere. I like it here. It’s Miami. Everybody wants to come here. Yeah.”
And the best part was:
When asked if he would accept a below-market offer from the Heat, he answered, “If that’s what it takes.”
This adds further weight to earlier reports about the possibility of Bosh and possibly even Wade sacrificing some money again (opt-out and sign a new contract) to allow the Heat some room to add more pieces in the off-season.

He's practically fouled out the moment he stepped a foot into this game. Well, even before he did.

On to game 6.
