NBA Thread 2013-2014

What a game it could have been.

The Heat had SA beat, but they couldn't beat the heat.

This was Miami's chance, and sadly the circumstances didn't allow us to see what they could have done with it.

Either way it's gone now, and with it goes the series. You don't get two chances away from home in the NBA finals.

And regardless of what happened, my prediction of 107-89 was pretty close in the end.

I feel like the Spurs won that game because of the AC system. It obviously took Lebron out of the game at a time when the Heat were winning.

Weird game. Thought Miami were quite poor for most of the game yet they just seemed to keep up with SA, and they probably looked like the team that would knick it up until the last 4 minutes or so.

Both players had to slog it out in the heat. Unless Popovich had secret summer training camps in the Yuma desert, I don't see how the AC yielded advantage to the Spurs.

Well the heat players were the ones cramping up, and since games aren't meant to be played at 90 degrees, it doesn't take much of a leap to see why the heat lost.

It was a clear advantage for the Spurs.

Lebron has had problems with dehydration in the past, and his cramps clearly had something to do with the AC failure. SA outscored Miami 16-3 after the last time James checked out, and the Heat were leading 86-80 with the ball when James had the cramps and started taking jumpers trying to shake them off.

Parker and Ginobili both said they had no problems with it because they're used to it playing in their home countries. Parker said "it was just like playing in Europe for me where we have no AC", and Ginobili said "I didn't even know why people were putting towels on their head, only noticed at half time the AC was broken".

Add to that the way the Spurs play (having a bigger rotation) clearly makes them the favorites in a situation like these.

SA won the game in the end, and it's not like they did it on purpose. It was a fair game in the end, just unfortunate for the Heat. However, we cant really say it affected both teams equally.

Only reason Miami were even close in the game was because of Spurs giving away 20+ turnovers, they'll highly unlikely to repeat another sloppy performance in this series.

I know. I even said so in an earlier post. This was their chance.

Please win Spurs, please. I wouldn't be able to stand LeBron and the cnut Miami fans celebrate another title.

Good game. Green came to the party just at the right time. He needs to play well and contribute points for Spurs to win the title.

Is it 2-2-1-1-1 this time?

What happened to LBJ? Left work and they were up by 7 or 8 or something just into the fourth. Then just got home to see Spurs run away with it and LBJ got injured. Huge blow - biggest and easiest 'gifting' of the series to the Spurs if he misses all six of the rest of the games. Huge choke if they don't win with LBJ gone.

He got cramps right at the point you left work (there was a problem in the air conditioning inside the arena, and the temperature reached 90+ in the fourth quarter). He took (and missed) two jumpers when the Heat were 86-80 up, and then he was subbed off because he couldn't continue. He was eventually subbed in again with about 4 minutes to go, only for him to be helped off the floor seconds later, after making a lay-up to cut SA's lead to 2 (94-92). He didn't come back and the Heat imploded as SA closed it out on a 16-3 run.

I think Lebron will be ok for the next game.

Oh cramps? I thought they said it was an 'injury'. Cramps though are pretty brutal if they fester and burn your system. Though I am not an elite athlete and I don't eat bananas so ...

I predict spurs in six but that's a slight overreaction. Game 2 is still huge. Miami has come back from a game 1 thrashing against Chicago,Indiana and OKC to win the next three and take the series. I agree none of those teams having the depth, coaching or experience of the spurs but a series isn't over after game 11 against a team as talented as Miami.

You see the problem is not with the Heat dropping game 1. The problem is with the way it happened. The Heat does have a habit of losing game 1, and they did lose the first game in every finals they won, and this year they lost game 1 against the Nets and the Pacers as well. But they never had a chance in those game 1s. In all the series they won, they won the away games in which they got a chance. Away teams usually don't get more than one chance to steal home court, and unfortunately for the Heat, this was it.

I expect a blow-out in game 2 for SA, because there is no way they're committing 23 TOs again.

The spurs aren't gonna shoot 60% again either. I agree about the turnovers, some of them were really dumb but the fact is Miami has a very aggressive that thrives on turnovers. I'd be very suprised if any of the remaining games aren't close in the fourth quarter.

Just throwing this here because it wasn't mentioned earlier..

Of course nobody is suggesting any conspiracy here about the malfunction, but SA should have made better efforts there to minimize its effect.

James does not look 100%, mentally or physically. He seems too tentative and lacks confidence on his drives.

Tony Parker must be one of the most annoying people to ever play against in any sport. He just slides through anyone and anything.

 How the hell is this game tied at the half?!

SA are playing much better, as expected. They will blow the game out in the second half.

This is like a replay of the last game. Spurs have looked much better than Miami yet they're somehow level.

Good performance from the Heat. They can take some momentum back to Miami now. LeBron was just ridiculous tonight.
