NBA 2024-2025

There is actually world cup in basketball. And US is not the reigning champion. Not even a medalist. Not even the best country out of the NA.

Long season for Jazz. Keyonte George is not a very smart basketball player. Hardy Will get them too many wins and they draft around fifth. And trade Markkanen in the summer.

Eager to see how Iisalo's offense works in Memphis.

Celtics lifted a world champion 2024 banner yesterday.
I understand this is done, but it's on the team, not the league. Celtics aren't classy

The way the world is now, it's going to continue just cuz people talk about it.

I expect when the first NBA team claimed this was ages before Europe had any decent teams, a decision made by some marketing guy in a checkered suit back when no one cared about the NBA. Certainly no one in Europe (by which I mean it's popularity was much less).

But I admire Spurs for putting NBA champions instead. As a person, I much prefer the stereotypical humble British attitude than the stereotypical brash American one.

I'd love to see NBA teams participate, which I'm assuming they don't. Just needs to make sense financially, injury is so easy to happen and so much rides on what happens in the NBA, as opposed to the WCoB.

World cup in basketball, just like football, is played by nations. So I don’t think that will happen. There are obviously numerous NBA players there, if that's what you meant. Pretty much everyone apart from about top 10 us players.

It is unfortunate that US basketball doesn't take the WC seriously. The 2023 team had 0 players with a single minute of senior national team experience and was the youngest team at the tournament.

Yeah, but it was still closer to your b team than c team. With the same coaches as Olympics.

Actually, that team now would probably do a whole lot better if the tournament was played this summer. Edwards and Haliburton took huge leaps last year, Brunson improved as well. Reaves, Banchero, Ingram, and JJJ are all better players.

Oh, yes I'm aware of that, I thought you were saying there was an equivalent to the Club World Cup for basketball.

I think the interest for that would be the same as the equivalent gimmick in football has. So not really needed or wanted.

I know it was only the Blazers and the Jazz, but to win by 34 and 41 points respectively, on the road, is pretty impressive.

3-0, feels like an eternity ago since that happened for the Lakers. Have not been able to see anything more than extended highlights but some of the passing on offense has veen surprisingly good, especially compared to last season.

Fun times.

Are you fully on the Redick train?

Good win over the kings today. Still early but JJ looks like a clear upgrade over Ham.

Lebron with another monster game for the ages. The guy is incredible to do what he's doing in season 22.

It feels so odd to start the season 3-0, seems like we always end up 3-9 and then are fighting for the play in, in recent years.

From the recent games, if we can keep AD healthy and get a solid big next to him, we are going to be a lot better this year.

When i saw people talking about Westbrook experience, didnt quiet get it but this game must be example of it

Is this the “jacks up 30 shots, makes 4, and steals all the rebounds” experience or the “jacks up 20 shots, make 5, but takes 400 free throws while destroying souls of his teammates” experience?

His stat line is pretty decent for the game. 2-2 from three and only one turnover.

I meant more like sequence where he hits his threes and then easy uncontested dunk, ball rims out and sent into the roof

 yeah. Not sure how best to describe it. 'Russ basketball trippin'.. Even when he plays well and is in his rhythm, he is capable of producing jaw-dropping moments of wtf

I kind of warm to him as people were being overly harsh compensating for the period where his individual stats were pushed despite (even then) obvious flaws in his game. Which is kind of ironic/unfair. You fed the beast, made him the player he is and then mocked the very things you praised him for. On top of that his shooting severely declined.

Not sure how this experiment in Denver will end (pretty skeptical myself). With lack of depth and even more pressure on Jokić, one would assume, you need more shooters and not someone like Westbrook. Early days still and unlike Harden or PG, Russ will give teams run for their money come playoffs.

"Impressive" 2nd half from the Dubs so far. Up by 28 at half time, got it up to 31 and with just less than 8 minutes to go in the 4th it's a 1 pt game.

Can’t believe you shat the bed like that in the second half. You had us in a choke hold so bad Udoka benched our two best players. We should have won in the end though, having come all the way back and forced OT.

Podz is a proper clutch player though. He almost single handedly stopped the bleeding in the 4th when we threatened to take the lead and run away with it.

Doc Rivers and Darvin Ham. What could go wrong...

Giannis is going to be a one and done at this rate.
Same for Jokic. Malone and front office stink at Denver. Brought Saric and Westbrick while getting rid of KCP. At least Lillard at 34 looks and plays much better than Murray at 27.

Do you think Jokic should request a trade to win another ring? He seems quite loyal to Denver

Premature to request a trade. I think big mistake was made giving Murray a contract. He seems washed up at 27. I hope I am wrong but Olympics and previous playoffs are showing that he is in a huge slump. It's not like he plateaued, the guy just lost athleticism and his bball intelligence is low.

Ruptured ACL is a tough injury too sadly

Yeah but he came back from that. He had excellent playoffs when they won a championship. So his decline didn't start after that injury but after most likely horrendous training camp after the championship run. Mini injuries in 2023/2024 season caused the decline.

Good year so far sports wise. Tennessee tied for the lead in the loss column in the SEC, Commanders leading the NFC East, Dubs tied for the lead in the Western Conference.

If only United didn't suck....

Wemby loves settling for jumpers, doesn't he?

I guess he's on a team that isn't trying to win yet, so anything goes in that environment but jacking up 3 after 3 and missing all of them while your team is getting murdered is crazy, especially when you know he's an unguardable demon in the paint.
