NBA 2024-2025 ; Lakers Land Luka

Unless Luka really falls off, that lakers pick isn't going to be high either, and AD could just get injured killing any lot of picks talk. and deal you have mentioned would still be a better deal than the one they got from Lakers, not really surprising considering this is the same guy who is known in sneaker world as the genius who absolutely shit the bed with curry deal for nike.
Yeah that pick will be poor too. The saving grace for them might be trading AD down the line but obviously they won’t get as much as they would have got for Luka. This would have been less lopsided if AD was 25.

It was a bad trade, any trade that included Luka going the opposite way would have been bad. Like I said, I was shocked to see this happen and thought it was a hoax.

Like i said regardless, not creating bid war for Luka is red alert and fishy as mf, pick Lakers offer if you want after but at least see other offers, they body bagged Luka and shipped him in middle of the night, they knew what reaction would be if info somehow got out.
Yes, this is inexplicable. There must be something else here, otherwise I can’t explain rushing to move one of league’s best players all of a sudden and not even trying to figure out what else is out there.

There is no way this whole thing is clean, also if reports are true and Luka had no idea that he was traded, isnt that kinda risky, low chance of happening but if Luka says, yea i dont like LA that much and decides to leave as free agent, i mean the feck, usually you get player promise that he will sign a new contract with you before if i am not mistaken.

The Lakers gave nothing, so it doesn't matter if he doesn't extend.

Regardless of what team has what, not putting Luka on open bid table and you calling Lakers to give them generational player for next X years for basically nothing without Luka even asking for a trade is insane, ONE FRP for Luka fecking Doncic, that should be investigated, regardless of teams being in question. It makes no sense vs current market.

Apparently one Athletic reporter is saying Dallas contacted another team but they declined, didn't name the team.

Hearing this now seems like Dallas had made up their mind on what they wanted in return, and Davis was near top of their list, or the very top of it. It seems like they specifically set out to get him. Like I said, if he was 25-27 this would have made sense, he’s an awesome player.

Luka is still contracted for 1.5 years so plenty of time to make a decision. Inexplicable to not even get the 2031 pick from LA.

AD will probably be somewhere else next season anyway.

Hmm if pigeon hole is true, than few teams can be but doubt whole story around need for defensive center, specially when AD hates to play as one, also again they created a channel with another team, its still not open bid.

It’s still dodgy as feck because Dallas GM is a former Nike executive and he traded one of Nike’s biggest athlete to a team that has one of Nike’s biggest star in it.

Is this how he’s repaying them for the Steph feck up?

Dallas are fecked for the foreseeable future. Teams are going to hate them for killing trade values and free agents are going to remember that Dallas costed Luka at least a 100m by trading him and getting rid of his super max eligibility. If they can do that to Luka, they can do that to anyone.

Dallas didn't want to pay that super max......as a Laker fan, I am excited about this trade, however, I feel Buss and Pelinka will still feck this up.

I think this is the most shocking trade in maybe the history of sports, let alone the NBA. I do not get what the Mavs were thinking at all.

Like, why did they at least not demand Knecht and Reeves in the trade? And every single pick possible? The Lakers would still do it, because this is as much about building for 2026 as it is winning a title this year.

It actually makes it worse, did article says that Davis was the target. So assuming that the same logic applies, the other team has the alternative target, I would love to know who it was. The funny thing is that Doncic lack of durability is said to be their main reason which explains why they went after AD.

From reddit:
It was time to sell because of reasons like this. The franchise value was at it's peak and the new salary structure of the NBA is gonna have bad effects. Boston is selling the team because of the same reasons. They will move Jalen Brown within the next 18 months. It's not sustainable to pay 2 guys on one team 150 mill a year total with the cap aprons.

From reddit:

That's not true for Dallas, they don't have a lot money in the future or even now, in fact they added spendings with AD. But it is true for the Celtics or the Wolves who are 2nd apron teams, the sanctions that start this summer for repeat offenders are bad.

If “the other team” was Boston and the only possible name in the mix was Brown, I could understand both Dallas’ call and Celtics’ decline (this is such a biiiig trade only the new owners can sanction, after deciding what to do with the roster and the 2nd apron) … yet, not putting Doncic in the open market in order to get the best package in return is so dodgy I can’t see how the league can let it pass, because it is going to screw the market in full imho.

I get it it's a lopsided traded but I do feel AD is getting disrespected a bit. They could get more but AD is still one of the best players in the league.

Isn’t AD basically a salary dump in this instance, which is really disrespectful indeed!? I mean, 20 teams out of 30 would offer two arms and a leg for a top 5, 25yo generational player like Doncic, fitness or not. AD & one 1st does not make any sense, apart of signalling you are broke. EDIT: or insane / non-sane!

He is giving Pelinka props for not leaking, oh hell nah, ofcc he gonna keep his mouth shut about such trade, this guy, Nike or no Nike connections, above or under the table deal, this guy...also watching now he is giggling while Mavs fans losing their shit, is he crazy or something

So he had coffee with Rob Pelinka and since then it was only Lakers as option, seems reports of other team are false

Edit: Saying how JKidd was supportive of decision while JKidd next to him looks like a ghost kek

Something is off because I keep thinking about other GMs that haven't been given the opportunity to actually make this trade respectable. They must think that the league is rigged or Harrison is the biggest idiot in human history and they failed to exploit it.

Does this mean LeBron is on the move as well? I don’t see the two of them together as a good fit at all.

LeBron to GSW?

Not gonna lie, after these conferences and things.... this just screams of a power move for no reason other than to suggest that the guy obsessed with power (Dallas GM) wants to say "I can do what I want" to me.

This press conference is bonkers, there is no way this aint shady by this guy in his version of Joker arc, 3-4 weeks not a single peep and everything started during some coffee, only Lakers talk, it will be interesting to see his path from here.

Cowboys or Mavs?

Lakers only have 1 first in the next 3 years (2026). I think it would make sense to completely cancel this season and trade LeBron for some good players plus drafts if possible. Rebuild the team.

But it would be insanely fun to see Luka and LeBron be given one go at the championship together.

Listening to that guy it doesn’t actually seem like he knew what he was doing. Just had an idea and decided he would follow up on it without much thought.
