NBA 2024-2025 ; Lakers Land Luka

There are quotes of unnamed GMs saying how they would trade everything, now dunno whats their possession to give it a value but i bet there would be teams ready to jump on it, this whole thing is just mental, dunno for whom that guy works but he aint working for Mavs thats for sure.

Luka is better offensively than AD but AD is ofcourse better defensively. What Nico might be thinking is AD right now is a 25ppg player playing with a ball dominant LeBron, maybe putting him at the center of the offence can potentially make him a 30 ppg player while keeping him great on defense. Regarding the future, it's clear that the future was going to be difficult with Luka as well given they were severly limited in their squad building activities. They already gave up their future to bring in Kyrie and were in a 'win-now' mode already, they just believe this trade gives them a better chance.

Again, there is also the possibility that Mavs didn't want to give Luka the Supermax and knew they eventually had to trade him. I suppose the logical thing to do then is open trade offers, where they could get a ton of draft picks back, but it seems they only wanted AD since they didn't want to lose the 'win-now' situation given they have a decent group and Kyrie.
I think someone said it here best earlier, the Mavs spent the last 5-6 years building a team around Luka when they finally reach the NBA finals and are so close with Luka entering his prime they decide to blow it up. For what ?

And I rate AD and think he's being a tad bid disrespected, but this trade makes absolute no sense. Idk how money works in the NBA but AD aint even selling half the jerseys Luka does. There's not one aspect of this trade that makes sense.

AD plus 1 first is an awful return for Luka. Even you think AD with Kyrie gives you a great a chance at a title, it’s still a horrible return. You have Luka. A 25 year old Luka, in his prime, and all you got in return a 31 year old, injury prone AD and a first.

I don’t want to disrespect AD. He’s a fantastic player, one of the best in the league, but it’s Luka Doncic. Even if everything you’re speculating on turns out to be spot on, it still doesn’t come close to justifying a) trading Luka, and b) green lighting a package that only gets them AD and a first in return.

This is like when you're football manager create a new player as Bayern manager and organise a Kane-Hojlund swap then retire as Bayern manager.
