NBA 2021-2022

Oh well, they were the luckiest team I can remember when it came to injuries last season, with their rivals all having those injuries, while them staying fit.

However, there seems to be something wrong with NBA during playoffs with all these injuries, and the championships are decided essentially based on who is lucky to not get injured. For example in 2019, Dubs would have easily won if KD and Klay didn't get injured, last year I think Nets were on course of winning it if one of Kyrie/Harden were fit, while this year seems even more exaggerated with Nets missing Simmons and Harris, Bucks missing Middleton, Suns missing Booker, Denver missing Murray and Porter-Junior, now Butler of Heats getting injured, etc. Is this just my recent bias or things are getting worse?
You can mention the bubble too, wasn't AD injured when the season was stopped ?

Injuries aside, the Nets were never close to a title at all. This was a broken team from start to finish.

Last season they were very good, and won very comfortably the first two matches against Bucks (by 8 and 41 points). When Kyrie got injured (end of second game) things turned bad, and even then, they came very close to defeating Bucks, who easily won the next two sets of games. I don't think anyone could have stopped them last season, when fit, they were a really good team, with 3 top 10 players at their peak.

Since '15:
-Kyrie and Love
-Steph
-Kawhi
-CP3
-KD and Klay
-Dragic and Bam
-Kyrie, Harden, AD, Kawhi, Murray*

Just off the top of my head

That happens when you make people play 82 regular season games while deriding and actively fighting against load management because you want bums in seats.

Can't see how the Bucks beat this Boston team without Middleton. Giannis needs to be super-human.

I had the Bucks beating the Dubs in 6 in the finals, but like you I think they'll have a real hard time beating the Celtics in the next round without Middleton.

Should be interesting though. Get a chance to see whether the Celtics are really good or the Nets were just really bad.

Point God, CP3...single handedly bringing back the Suns in the 3rd quarter. Really want the Suns and CP3 to at least get the to the Finals and have a chance at the title.

But...Booker has been rushed back and is really just a traffic cone, Crowder hasn't hit enough outside shots, and Suns are having trouble rebounding.

Suns get through the Pelicans. Booker made a couple important shots in the 4th down the stretch, but this game goes to CP3 and some clutch play by Bridges, Johnson, and defensively the entire Suns team.

Very difficult close out game for the Suns and they got through it.

And Sixers clearly, clearly advance. Just dominated Raptors on the road to close out the series.

If the Mavs can win tonight though, no real rest for Booker. Expect game 1 of Suns/Mavs no later than Sunday.

And bye bye Toronto. No repeat of the 4 bounce winner this time.

A great win though. Just pulled away in the 3rd. Bring on the Heat

It worked out in the end, man the Booker 3 and Bridges steal+dunk were such clutch winning plays. Really good to see, hopefully the other series goes 7 so Booker gets some extra rest. With that said, while Booker wasn't Booker of the first 2 games, he was more than a traffic cone so I disagree there. He made some really good shots even in the 1st half but didn't put up a ton of shots today. He looked far better than I thought he would in terms of his movement so fingers crossed that he will be good to go with the extra few days.

Pelicans gave a good fight, but Suns are just too good.
It's like CP3 reads all the tweets slandering him and decided on violence today

Draymond said the Pels had the two best players in the series, CP3 got it from all corners this time around. 14 for 14, you can't make it up.

I very much doubt injuries had much to do with Simmons being out and Harris was not that much of a miss anyway. Nets lost because they are a much worse team than Celtics not because of injuries. Williams was a bigger loss for Celtics in the first two games than Harris was for Nets.

In a team sport where only five players are playing at the same time, and each team has 3-4 crucial contributors, there is bound to be element of luck with injuries playing a significant part. It’s not like football where you have 11 players and even when 1-2 of them are out you can compensate for their absence easier.

Chris fecking Paul. That was a historical performance.

Pelicans would be a force to be reckoned with if Zion can manage to stay healthy.

Woke up at around 6:30 by accident, thought Dallas - Utah must be over, look at the NBA app and get to see Clarkson's moving screen of the century and a butt-clencher of an open three point brick to end the game. I was pretty awake after that.

It's been so long that my team made the 2nd round I don't even know how to feel right now.

Jesus, CP3 went 14/14? Insane.

They should try to move Zion for players who can actually run.

If they can get a good package, sure. Ingram seems to be doing that step of being able to lead a team.
And I’m sure there’s enough teams out there who would want to take a swing on him. If I were the Pels, I’d trade him while he still has value. Don’t think he will ever become a dominant player. And honestly, it feels like the Pels do better without him.

He was quite good last season. It is unclear if he can stay fit with all that weight on him, though.

That was Jalen Bronson series. Luka, you can take the next one.
He gonna get PAID this offseason

Honestly Mavs might really be a Gobert away from contending if Brunson keeps playing at this level

What, why. Zion was a beast when fit. Would take a ridiculois offer to make sense right now

CP3 perfect game, sheesh

Sixers always do the opposite of what people expect

Jazz blowing it up, that's gonna be interesting

Assuming Cuban - for once in his fecking life - throws money at a key player instead of letting him leave after a good playoff outing. Reports are already out that we could've extended him for 15mil a year but just didn't because Mavs.
I can only hope Utah undervalues Gobert for some reason and lets him go for a decent Mavs offer. He's a singularity on defense, nobody comes close to his rim protection, yet half the world acts as if he's Utah's problem.

Mavs don't have the pieces to get Gobert. It's really impressive how threadbare that roster is. Other than Luka and Brunson, the rest are pretty much just dudes...Like, there is nothing there. Their best chance is to hit big in FA

DFS has massive trade value, but they'd be idiots to trade him away.
And the Mavs have literally hit big in FA 0 times, that won't change, especially with them over the cap even without resigning Brunson. Trades are the only way to go.
