NBA 2021-2022

I keep not understanding why teams that are currently good or have interesting developing cores aren't talked about, they don't really have articles about them or anything. Barely broadcasting the Cavs, Wolves, Bulls or Hornets is criminal, these were very interesting teams before the season starts with lots of young talent. Instead they broadcast the L.A. Pensioners every other nights.

Most sports media aren't interested in the sport, they just want the manufactured drama and Lakers provide plenty of that.

You are right but there is a balance needed, there is many young stars that are almost entirely ignored by everyone outside of their own fanbase. Also there is a pretty important consequence to this nonsense, Basketball commentators are more and more hopeless, they have absolutely no clue about the teams and players they talk about and it's not easy to spot but also pushes someone like myself away from larger medias, local reporters and bloggers are infinitely more insightful than the likes of ESPN, TNT or any of the the large podcasts.

An a very simple example a few month ago the Wolves had the top 6 or 7 defense and a bottom third offense, but for some ridiculous reason the supposed ESPN expert claimed that the Wolves needed more from their defense because they couldn't rely solely on their high power offense. Not only they don't watch games, probably because these games aren't broadcasted nationally but they don't even check facts when they are scheduled to talk about these teams.

Now of course the trick is that they eventually push smaller markets stars to request for trades or hit free agency. They tried it very hard for Booker, Giannis or Lillard.

We won a game!!!!

Ahahahaha we won!!!!!

And LeBron only had to go for 56!!!

Warriors are trash
At the moment they can't beat anyone and I don't see it getting any better any time soon. The defense has gone from being one of the best in the league to one of the worst. Upcoming schedule doesn't get any easier either.

Klay looks about like you'd expect a guy to look after not playing for 900+ days. It'll take a good off season for him to get close to his former glory.

He isn't getting any younger, though. Ideally, he'd be back to 60% of his former self by the time the playoffs come around. The warriors started the season sizzling hot, and they look like a shadow of that team.

Fair play coming up with a proper response to my incendiary post. They live and die by steph and draymond just like they always have. I think they get bounced in the second round of the playoffs.

What a game that was in Boston, Tatum unreal 54 points such an accomplished player..

Draymond Green first ballot HoF

30 points on 10/11 FG, 3 rbs, 3 ast in 4th+overtime

Absolutely ludicrous player

Whoever doesn't have Jokic as their top pick for MVP deserves to get their voting rights canned.
I mean Yes. But also, he won last year and Embiid is also amazing. So is Giannis. CP3 is leading the best team in the league. And DeRozan is having a ridiculous season and leading the Bulls to the playoffs

(Ja and Luka also amazing but not quite enough for me)

This is a cool reg season btw. Suns aside, it's chaos everywhere

Joker with another 3D because why not :D

I'd give it to Jokic. Most advanced stats have him in front. He's also pulled Denver up to the 6th seed (currently 1.5 games out of 4th) without Murray (2nd best player) for the whole season and KPJ (3rd best player, arguably anyway) for most of it. Amazing effort.

Does anyone what was the real issue with Dinwiddie and the Wizards ? Like I know the players had a personal issue with him but what was the reason ? The guy is always a solid offensive option

And the records between the 2 teams isn't far with the Nuggets team Jokic has had to play in. It's truly remarkable what he's been doing

Apparently the Nuggets are the best team in the league by rating with Jokic on the floor and the worst team in the league with him off the floor

He's having a better season than last year. But, also, he did win last year and Embiid kind of deserves it too...

Not over Jokic though, especially now that he gets to play with a bonafide 2nd superstar and former MVP. Narrative is the only reason to pick Embiid over Jokic this season.

People still sleeping on Doncic because of his slow start, btw., but the team's record and hisu stats should speak for themselves by now.

Dunno is that still the case but pts difference between him on/off the floor till recently was something like 20+ pts.

It isn't though. Embiid has been the single most dominant and unstoppable player in the league, until the Harden trade he was carrying a rather middling supporting cast himself too, he's a ridiculous force at both ends of the floor. Jokic might beat him when it comes to advanced numbers, but only just, and the eye test says Embiid might be the best player in the world. Throw in Joker winning last year, and yeah. Embiid fully deserves the award. So does Jokic. And Giannis. Any of the 3 can win and it would be fair

Personally i'd give it to Embiid though. Nobody dominates like him

Nah. The nuggets are like 1 win behind and the sixers have the same record. Luka just doesn't have the body of work this season, the others have been monsters all season long, unlike him

Nuggets roster is worse with Murray and MPJ missing.

Eh, maybe, point is Embiid was also carrying a lottery team without him

So is Doncic. The Mavs roster is even worse than the Sixers (pre trade) if you take both teams' superstar away. Luka has them on a absolute tear in 2022. And lets not pretend that Embiid was dominant all season long. He had some pretty bad stretches at the beginning of the season well into december as well.

In 2022. Luka has been a monster for about 2 months now. Jokic/Embiid/Giannis have been since the start. He's not playing better than any of them right now, and so those extra ~2 months matter here. And the mavs still had Porzingis at the time, the supporting cast was better than the Ben-less Sixers. Embiid didn't have significant bad stretches either. Just a few games. And he's still been doing it longer than Luka

The mavs record was pretty decent even before Luka played himself into fitness

As I said, Embiid had some rancid stretches at the beginning. His dominance began middle/late december. It's revisionist to think he came in to the season and just dominated.
And the Mavs until their resurgence where 12th in the conference and way below .500.
Not arguing Luka should win it, but the caveats that apply to him also apply do Embiid. Giannis is always a beast, but given his shit team Jokic should be the clear cut MVP.

Btw.: Porzingis has always been a nonfactor when it came to actually winning for the Mavs. They literally had the same win percentage over his time with the team with or without him. SO glad he's gone.

Interestingly no one mentions KAT when every single one of you thought that the Wolves weren't worth your time.

Embiid(and Luka, and Trae, and in a way, Ja) also all have the bonus of pettiness going for them. Like they don't want to beat you, they want to humiliate you

I mean, this sounds right

I wish Luka had Troells social media game.
Gobert seems to rob everybody the wrong way, though. He's gotta be the most hated player among his peers in the NBA and nobody seems to know exactly why.

As the young people say: That tweet is goated.

Parker was french, too, and people seemed to like him. Maybe it's the name that makes the frenchman in the nba.

I gotta say, after the shit start to the season from a Mavs fan's perspective, this season overall has turned out to be very entertaining. Both the east and the west are a bloodbath for a change, and the one team that's running away in the standings doesn't seem unbeatable.

It's the all-NBA and defensive player of the years award competition. The NBA is probably the nastiest context when it comes to people hating on players that are against their favorites. Until Edwards made himself known for being laid back and joking around, a lot of people were hating on him because he wasn't Lamelo Ball and they only wanted Ball as the ROTY. You have many people hating on KAT due to the competition with Embid, you currently have people hating on Jokic due to the competition with Embid, the same applies to Giannis.

Actually I was watching this yesterday which kind of applies to some of them:

Never been happier about a Warriors win. The clippers need to stay the feck down so there's no chance the Mavs play them in the first round again.
