NBA 2021-2022

Don't you think you are supporting the wrong team in general if this is what you hope to see in your team?

Maybe, but I have been a Laker fan from birth so not a choice. Still remember my dad taking me to see Showtime in the old Forum. That team had a homegrown core Magic, Worthy, Scott (sort of, he was traded after being drafted), Rambis, Cooper, etc. This team has no soul. THT, Reaves and Monk are the only positives this season.

I'm going to New York at the end of February, and excitedly bought tickets to Celtics vs. Nets. At this rate it's looking like I'm not going to see any of the big three.

Philly actually play at the Knicks on my final day of the trip - half tempted to buy tickets for that one, in case the Harden trade actually happens.
You’ll still hopefully get to see the Jays and the mighty Time Lord! :p

LaMelo has been called to replace Durant. What does Allen have to do to be there?

How is he a positive? He’s been awful after getting paid.

You should go anyway for the experience of watching a game at MSG. If you haven't visited before, it's probably the best fan experience in terms of atmosphere.

Another good win without getting out of 1st gear. Just like the Kings game got a 1st half lead and then essentially played out time.

Steph really seems to have changed his game over the last couple of weeks though. Instead of putting up a lot of high difficulty shots (and missing) he seems to be actually playing more of a true PG and dishing out assists. Over the last 10 games he's averaging a little over 8 per game and taking far fewer shots. He's not as much fun but has been a lot more effective.

Any thoughts on why this is? Maybe picking up more playmaking responsibility with Draymond out?

I think initially he tried to shoot himself out of the slump he was in and I think eventually that would have worked out. However as you say with Draymond out I think he could kill two birds with one stone. Take on the playmaking responsibilities (which was needed) and at the same time start taking more high percentage shots to build up his confidence (which even though he denied it I think had taken a hit).. Seems to be working on both fronts. Guess we'll see how it goes once Draymond comes back.

Just checked. Steph has now shot 50% or better in 4 of his last 5 games. Prior to this he had only shot 50% or better in 1 out of his last 14.

CJ to Knicks is gathering some traction, previously he's been linked with Pelicans. I think Fournier + 2nd round pick may be coming Portland's way.

anyone else surprised how good Cavs has become? JB Bickerstaff has done some pretty amazing things up there.
In the era of small ball supremacy, he's playing 3 7 footer together to great success, reviving Kevin Love career and Darius Garland is fulfilling his potential as an elite PG.
Probably my pick for coach of the year if Monty don't win it

Theyve already passed their over under win total for the season (27.5). That's pretty darned impressive to do before the all star break.

As for coach of the year, I'd throw Kerr into the mix as well. The Warriors were expected to be better but not this good. However, if the Cavs can keep up this current pace Bickerstaff would get my vote.

No love for Chris Finch.:(

 Probably they will get a 2023 second or something. This is the worst start of a rebuild in NBA history. I dread the return they will get for Lillard.

Really you can’t even get Hayes, Murphy or Alexander-Walker for him?

That's underwhelming for the Blazers, wow.

Apparently Alexander Walker is in the deal, for whatever that's worth. I guess how we rate the trade will depend in part on what "draft compensation" means but right now it doesn't look great.

I saw Hart, Hayes and two first round picks before. That would have been OK return for CJ who is good but not top tier. Replace Hayes with NAW and it’s worse but still acceptable. Bottom line is, if it's two firsts it's a good deal for Blazers now. Also depends on what picks these are, if it's Bucks picks in the next 3 years it's a bunch of crap too

Dame will have to be traded next. No reason for him to stay, or for Blazers to keep him. Nurkic will also be on the trade market. Whether it's before the deadline or in the Summer remains to be seen as he may not be back this year.

They might try to route Hart to a better team for further draft assets.

I like Hart actually, but he's probably worth more to a contending team than one that's planning to rebuild.

The full trade:

It's not as bad as it initially seemed, but whilst this trade isn't too bad, that Norm + Covington trade will likely hurt them. It seems like they're trying to go all in on building around Lillard and hoping for Simons to step in and become one of the main players.

Depends on where Pelicans pick lands. If they make it into play-in they have a good chance to make it into the playoffs, in which case that pick will not convey at all and you are looking at Hart, NAW and scrubs for CJ and Nance.

They have to trade Lillard now. No other way. Only question remains whether it is now or in 4 months time.

It does? Looks like a reset to me.

Philly will be begging for a Simmons trade, hope they resist. I want Simmons to stay in Philly and not play, because it's funny.

Fun fact: Wizards have never signed their first round pick that was outside of top 5 to a second contract.

I would literally take Simmons for Lillard from a Blazers fan perspective as long as Morey doesn't trick Conin into giving him picks. I actually think he will and it will end up being Dame + 1/2 firsts for Simmons + salary filler

Trading Lillard for a total rebuild would be a wise move, but I've yet to see any reliable reports about Lillard and potential trades. Given how badly they wanted to keep Lillard for the past year, it seems like they want to give him a new core to work with.

Considering Philly have no options anyone would be mad to trade full value. Philly are out of title contention without a trade, who wants another top team to worry about? Unless you plan to be bad for the next 10 years.

What in the actual feck are Portland doing? They are leaving scorched earth and trading all their decent players for peanuts to other western conference teams. Jody Allen is really trying hard to the top of the "worst owners" list.
I feel for all Trailblazer fans.

All of this without Sexton too. I gotta I enjoy this NBA season with teams like Cavs, Bulls, Grizzlies

Yeah I’m fuming. Going to switch to Charlotte, Cleveland or whatever FFS. Always knew I should not be adopting those hipster teams.

Pacers have traded Sabonis, Lamb and a 2027 second round pick for Halliburton, Hield and Tristan Thompson.

I think it’s a decent deal for both to be honest. Did not think Kings would give up Halliburton though but they needed a competent big and some change. Their backcourt actually feels light now.

It’s shaping up to be a very interesting trade deadline.
