NBA 2020-2021

 ya you have to be really delusional to think the refs were against the Lakers today!
I didn't say that though. I never said the refs were against the Lakers. I just said saying they were for the Lakers is a silly take and it gets bought up every other game it seems.

No surprise a Lakers fan would think the refs didn't favour them.

It's not like the ref gave them a 17-0 free throw disparity in the first half which was the only reason they were still in he game in the first place.
You can't put words in my mouth to prove your point. There were decisions in that game both teams would be unhappy with. Like pretty much every game ever.

I agree, but what about OUR Sixers?
Haha yeah good win but the Wizards kept it close despite Westbrook having an off night. The bench was horrible. And what more can be said about Simmons - excellent at everything yesterday other than scoring baskets.

Think we all know how the playoffs are going to be for the Sixers - teams will try and find a way to force Simmons to shoot more and the Sixers will have to find a way of not letting that happen.

If you watched the game it was obvious the refs were giving everything to the Lakers in the first half and the 4th quarter.

The free throw disparity was ridiculous considering how physical both teams were on defense.

Really pleased the Suns won. Hope CP3 can recover. Memphis getting up over Utah just now was also good to see. Great games this weekend.

This is building up to be an excellent playoff.

Grizzlies beating up Jazz with Dillon Brooks come up big down the stretch
Suns playing with a hurt Paul and playing excellent defense on Lakers
Trae game winner in New York  . I love seeing Spike Lee so dejected after that shot

Wait what? You literally said "one sided refereeing" in reference to the Lakers getting two techs, that doesn't imply anything other than saying the refs were against the Lakers.

As far as Caruso, he literally comes back at Payne and pushes him aggressively, I've seen many techs given for less than that. This ain't the 80s anymore.

This time I am not entirely sure this was just a LeBron game 1 and things will go back to normal from game 2 onwards. There's something wrong with this Lakers team. Watch them win 4 in a row now.

Memphis with a big game 1 win. Typically there is much bigger difference between 1 and 8 than there is between Jazz and Grizzlies. I still expect Jazz to win in the end but it will probably go 6 at least or even 7, Memphis are a very solid team.

Atlanta got back the homecourt from the Knicks, fun first game. 15k at MSG is insane.

Bookies favourites all lost for the first game of the Western Conference playoffs.

All series might be close this time. I'm not even sure any of them ends in 5, probably not.

What a start. I managed to watch 2 1/2 games, Bucks-Heat, Knicks-Hawks and bits of Nets-Celtics.

Trae Young was out of this world good against the Knicks. He dominated the end of the 4th, but even before that I thought he had a great game - not forcing anything, passing when he should have, making his shots and some ludicrously great assists. Then he took over at the end when his team needed him to, and got a bucket on something like 8 or the last 9 plays. I genuinely think the Hawks could pose problems for the 76ers if they both go through.

I haven't seen much of the West yet, but amazing how open it is. Who's the favourite to win the West now?!

Caruso got a tech for poking the ball out of Cam's hand after Cam had shoved him. Such one sided refereeing.

Lakers haven't looked great all season and was disingenuous to think they'll just turn it on in the playoffs. LeBron hasn't looked healthy in a while and AD just isn't being aggressive enough consistently. And they're the only 2 reasons we could make the finals.

How can anyone watch that and possibly come to the conclusion that the officiating was against the Lakers? That's a bizzare take, unless you're a Lakers fan.

Jazz kept missing 3s all night and barely lost. Game wouldn't have been close if they just realised they were allowed to shoot 2s.

Don't really had any issues with the refereeing yesterday, you're bound to have some calls you disagree with in such a physical game. I definitely wouldn't say they were against us but didn't think they were favouring us either (but maybe it looked that way as a neutral / Suns fan, dunno).

Lost a few Game 1s last season as well in the bubble but can't help but feel this is different. The pressure is already on for Game 2, our chemistry is definitely not as good as the Suns' but let's just hope some individual brilliance from AD or LeBron makes up for it.

Also stating the obvious but Devin Booker is such a good scorer by the way. Really like watching him play.

The West is anyone's guess now. Would love it if the Mavs take back a 2-0 lead to Dallas.

He's a deluded Lakers fan.

Note how he completely ignores the free throw disparity and thinks Caruso's shove and Harrell's football tackles aren't worthy of technicals.

Lakers had 17 free throws in the first half compared to 0 for us. With how much we kept feeding Ayton and Booker kept driving in, it's ridiculous that we got 0 free throws.

That was a sarcastic response to someone saying Lakers were getting every call.

Calling what Caruso did a push is ridiculous in my opinion, but it is just that. My opinion.

I double checked just to make sure and it's no way a push. Do you honestly say that if Caruso had just done that and Payne didn't push him first then throw the ball then Harrell came in, that Caruso would get a tech for what he did?

 I don't think you watch football or you're being extremely hyperbolic.

For goodness sake, where have I said Harrell's wasn't a technical? Please quote it. Absolutely ridiculous that's the second time you've out words in my mouth to try and prove your point.

Like I've said about 4 times now, I don't think the refs were for or against any team. They made bad calls against both, which happens every single game! Kuzma got called for a foul on a 3 ball when he never left the floor. That was a ridiculous call. Regardless of if it gets turned over or not on a review, the decision was made. If they were bias with the Lakers, they wouldn't have made the call?

Can you please stop saying I've said stuff to try to make your point stand?

Saying such one sided refereeing was sarcastic against someone else saying it was. I pointed out that bad calls went both ways. I've said that 5 times in this thread.

Harrell was being a peace maker according to ESPN

He was the one escalating shit with that football tackle which got everyone heated up.
I heard one commentator suggest Harrell was a peace maker and the other 2 guys laughed him shut midway through his sentence. Did anyone else say he was a peace maker? Or have you just made something up to support your narrative again?

Suns were faves, reasonably so too ... I traded reasonably well on it, I would of done a fair chunk on the Grizzlies(@4.5) game but it was on too late, gutted. NBA playoffs are good for trading in play bets. I’ve making about £30-40 a game so far just cashing in and out when teams go on a run.... but hard to catch every game when on so late... obviously I could crash out anytime too if someone goes hot and just has a mega lead wire to wire.

They always do that now though and they shot 29-33 from the FT line which is kind of unusual as well and partly offsets going 26% from the three.

Utah will win in 6. I think Snyder gambled with not playing Mitchell in. Even with that the game was very close. Loving our defensive intensity but there's only so far that will take you against a #1 seed.

I've seen people get techs for saying "And 1", these refs hand them out like candy.

I still think the Lakers win in 5 or 6 as it's hard to see AD putting in a similar performance to game 1 in any other game in this series. Still though, it's going to be hard for this Lakers team to win 3 series to get to the finals.

Yeah but come on, that doesn't make it right. Duncan got ejected for smiling on the bench once? Anyway, Harrell couldve got more then a tech for what he did but my point is and has always been, the refs were inconsistent both ways last night, as they are most nights.

Can we all at least agree LeBron is biggest bitch in sports? Makes Busquets look tough.

If the game yesterday had been game 7 and the Lakers had lost, I would have expected him to address the media in a body cast. He is the biggest drama queen in the NBA.

Lillard has 40 points and 9 assists at the end of the 3rd quarter. I wonder whether he'll get close to Jordan's all time playoff record with a big explosion in the 4th here.

Either way, so close to a 50 point playoff game.

Yeah. It’s really quite funny seeing someone built like that, with his talent, wealth, and success, behave how he does.

I believe he did show up with a hand cast after a game against the Warriors a few years back, to the laughter of most media members. As great as he is, he really should tone down the drama and theatrics because it detracts from what an all time great he is on the basketball court.

Dont think Denver can beat Portland in this series, there are such weak points in their current roster with injured players they have. MPJ seems to young to replace Murray in play off crazy.

Why is quality of nba discussion so bad in most of the places? Feels like everyone is crying about something. Even most of nba pundits are a joke.
