NBA 2019-2020

Clippers also very good chance. I'd say 40% Toronto, 30% Clippers and unfortunately 30% Lakers (would have said 5% last week).
Would be interesting if he goes to Clippers. Going to Lakers will mean pretty much assured final for him though.

Good deal for Dubs as well, considering Klay is fecked till midseason.

Knicks of course are proper fecked from these deals.

The 76ers have done really well from those moves I think, but they're pretty much in win-now mode, and need to add some shooters to that team I feel unless Simmons massively improves his shot. Looking pretty outstanding on defence though and could field a very big starting 5. Butler could've fecked them over but now they're better off than they were with him on the team, I especially like the Richardson move.

First time in over a decade that the West could potentially be weaker than the East? You have the Bucks, 76ers, Boston and Brooklyn, and possibly the Raptors should Leonard decide to stay there. It'll be interesting to see what position the Nets are in when Durant is healthy again.

The West would be wide open if Leonard joins the Clippers though - Houston, Clippers, Lakers, Warriors, Nuggets and the Jazz would be right up there near the top of the conference. If Leonard joins the Lakers and we get a few good other role players in, we're clear favourites though. Fingers crossed, it would make us contenders until long after LeBron leaves/retires.

You've missed Blazers from the West list I see no reason why Jazz and Nuggets would be up there but we wouldn't.

I'm interested in who takes Dragic in the Sixers/Heat deal. Mavs pulling out of that deal was so strange, how do you confuse Dragic with Olynyk and why would you even want Olynyk ahead of Dragic?

Chris Boussard is not a reliable source.
I know but he's not the only one reporting that we're currently the true (/only) threat to Leonard's future with the Raptors - CBS, Yahoo and NY Times also running this.

Yeah forgot about the Blazers indeed.

More excited about the NBA post-season than I am United transfers.. feck is wrong with me.

NBA free agency is usually way more exciting than the transfer window as this is basically a few days of madness. This year’s free agency class is one of the best ever too.

Anyone have any idea what the Grizz gave up in the trade with the Warriors? All I’m seeing is that they’re getting Iggy and a future 1st, but for what?!

They took the Iggy contract which the warriors wanted to trade away

But what did they trade in return?
Nothing. They took on his contract, which is quite heavy, and in return for it they get the pick. The Dubs basically bought themselves cap space with that pick.
If I understand correctly of course.

With the D'Angelo Russell trade the Warriors are now hard capped for the rest of the season. With Steph, Klay, and D'Lo's salaries adding up to $100 million this left them approximately 38 million to fill out the roster. With Draymond making 18.5 million and Iggy 17.1 million one of them had to go and even then it looks like minimum contracts or close to it for the rest of team.

On the surface the trade definitely has issues for the Dubs but it does give them some flexibility down the road. I can see D'Lo being traded after Klay gets back for some pieces that better fit the team.

3...Power Forwards.....WHY!

Dolan should do us all a favor and go play in NYC traffic.

Yeah exactly. If he doesn't work out you just trade him for someone who fits better, he's going to be a very significant asset.

Horrible trade from the Warriors imo. Cousins, Iguodala, Looney, Cook, Bell all gone for DeAngelo. And that Iguodala trade... What the feck? This could be a great pick in 5 years.

Iggy was necessary. They needed to get rid of the contract.
Cook and Bell are hardly a loss.
Keeping Cousins would have been a risky bet considering Klay is already injured.

The Russell trade is interesting and makes sense. They could keep him for a year and if he performs well they could keep him or trade him away.

I thought salary matching was a thing when trading?
Memphis have $25million trade exception from Conley trade which was done using Utah’s cap space. They used a portion of that to absorb Iguodala’s deal.

They had almost zero chance to keep Cousins, Looney will get overpaid, Cook and Bell are crap.

It was basically Iguodala for Russell. It’s good.

It's definitely not a horrible trade . With klay out they will struggle to make the playoffs in the west with the old roster . Teams would just defend Steph and wait for Draymond & Iggy to pass shots. They had to try something

Can they keep Looney?
It's possible but to be honest unlikely. Since the Dubs are hard capped they only have about 20 million to pay the rest of the roster after Steph, Klay, Draymond and D'Angelo Russell have received their money, less if they can't offload Shaun Livingston which they probably can't since he'll most likely retire. Lots of minimum players it appears.

Troy Daniels to the Lakers. 1-year, $2.1m deal. Does not affect our cap space apparently.

Enes Kanter is going to the Celtics.

Most of the experts seem to believe that this is a bad trade by the warriors
I think the way the Dubs look at it is that their bench is not that great anyway so if they lose one or two pieces then no big deal. As long as they can keep Steph, Klay and Draymond together then whoever they can add in the short term along with Russell should keep them afloat until Klay comes back. At that point they can trade D'Angelo for some meaningful pieces that actually fit the make up of the team and then hopefully be set for another Championship run.

What Knicks have done reminds me of how when you play NBA 2K, have a lot of space and decide to give out multiple offers to players playing in the same position but then forget to untick ‘Agreed’ next to the names of those who weren’t top of your wish list and end up getting all of them.

The job Sean Marks has done for the Nets deserves recognition. They had no team and no assets three years ago, he got them some very interesting players either off waivers (Dinwiddie, Harris) or with late first round picks (LeVert, Allen), has built great culture and a competitive team which made them a free agency destination for KD and Kyrie. Obviously being in New York was massively important but kudos to them, if KD comes back to 80% of himself they will be a contender.

In terms of potentially winning the NBA next year it's not a good move, but it will definitely help them to make at least the playoffs.

 they're arguably in better shape than boston even after all those picks. the nba is wild
Poetic, almost. Boston outdone after a series of supposedly brilliant maneuvers over the years by the team they swindled in the first place. Also Philly, after the greatest tanking scheme in history, left with merely a good team centered around a broken center and a point man that can’t shoot.

Best laid plans of mice and men...

I have no idea wtf the Knicks are doing right now. They are neither rebuilding nor going in really. They should have been using the space to take some terrible contracts and get assets but they are paying some average free agents money for no idea what really
