NBA 2018-2019

Whoever is in charge of recruitment at Denver (I know it was a Polish scout who recommended Jokic) deserves a medal. They have so many players found deep in the draft performing at a high level. Murray is basically the only high pick they currently have who is playing an important role for them, otherwise Harris was a mid first round, Jokic was a second round pick, Hernangomez and Beasley were late firsts and Monte Morris was a late second. Torrey Craig didn’t even get drafted. They are performing way above what you would expect from a collection of average to late draft picks.

They will finish with over 50 wins for sure. Might even get over 55 with a bit of luck.

We were lucky to get Jokic as his agent had been working on getting Barcelona to sign him. They were all on board apparently until they watched one last game of his, in which he absolutely stunk it up. So they backed out and he ended up going into the NBA draft.

Apparently the Joker was actually asleep when he got picked by us and his brother called him as he was smashing some Champaign, asking him why the hell are you asleep now.

They were up by 33 last time I looked. Why is he even still in the game?
It was good to see D'Antoni rest Harden in the 4th. He has almost single handedly carried the Rockets this season. The guy needs a break every now and then.

His conditioning seems great though and he’s playing for MVP so I don’t think he will be rested much in the upcoming months. Then again Houston will probably still have playoffs on their minds more than anything.

Griffin goes back to Staples Arena tonight. I’m planning to watch Thunder v Spurs and Kings v Hornets tonight, hope I don’t fall asleep before the second game. Kings are so awesome.

Doncic in clutch situations: 55 points(4th in the league) on 65.4 FG%(2nd)

He's 19 and plays for the mavs

Really amazing the influence he has had on this Mavs team. A 19-year old has virtually turned them from a crappy team to a potential playoffs candidate. I don’t think they will make the playoffs but the fact that they will linger around .500 is amazing. I hope they can build a decent team around him, they won’t have a pick this year and they don’t really have any young players with potential aside from him (Smith is probably going to be traded). They will have a ton of cap space but not sure what they can do with it this Summer.

Fun fact: Doncic's father comes from a small village near my hometown (a very sma town) and Doncic has still family there.

I realised it just yesterday.

Jokic put the moves on the Blazers and old mate Nurkic.

40/10/8 off 15/23 shooting.

A much needed win after such a disappointing loss to the Suns yesterday.

Harden's hit 6 3 pointers and the second quarter hasn't even finished.

1/17 today from three. I'm not sure when he hit his only three, but you'd think you'd try something else after the first several don't drop. Shameless stuff.

Jokic is too good. I don't know how many close games Blazers have won this season but that number can't be very high.

I have no idea who I'm cheering for tonight in Kings v Blazers game. Blazers are comfortably in the playoffs and they probably won't do much in the playoffs anyway but for Kings making playoffs would be absolutely huge this season plus I just love that team (it seems everybody does, listening to podcasts ). It'll be a great game either way.

He has to keep taking them though, that's their strategy.

He still somehow got 38 points.

Two huge wins for Magic. I really did not expect them to do anything yesterday, on back to back after a great comeback win against Celtics they got another great comeback win against a very strong team. With the way East has been this year it's not unthinkable that they will make the playoffs, even with sub .500 record.

Wizards are playing so much better without Wall. Beal has been a revelation (although his shot selection towards the end of yesterday's game was bad) and they've found themselves a gem in Thomas Bryant. Otto Porter has found some scoring touch recently too. It seems like not all is lost for them, if they can get rid of Wall in the Summer maybe they'll actually be good.

You only can cry as Lakers fan :(

I think it's hilarious. Laker fans were convinced they were great again. Turns out the young nucleas isn't that good in reality. Kuz is a beast, but Ingram is very overrated and Lonzo may never end up an All-Star IMO.

I can easily see 2 teams with a sub 500 record getting into the Playoffs this year.

None of them will be all-stars at this rate.

Even three. The only teams that will for sure finish with more wins than losses are Bucks, Raptors, Sixers, Celtics and Pacers (who have been super impressive with their consistency). Beyond that the rest is basically sub .500.

And they realised they needed bigs only after cutting Thomas Bryant and letting Brook walk .

Hilarious when Brook would have combined so well with LeBron with his newfound ability to hit 3s and he's also one of the more underrated centre in the league .

Last night both James Harden and Steph Curry took 32 shots each. One (Harden) couldn't hit water from a boat going 1/17 from 3 and an overall 34% from the field yet still managed to score 38 points because he went to the line 16 times. Steph Curry on the other hand went 17/32 from the field and 11/19 from three yet managed to get to the line on only 3 occasions. To make matters worse, one of those 3 was for a technical called on Rick Carlisle and the other 2 were his last points of the game when Dallas had to deliberately foul with 5 seconds to go. For anybody who watches the Dubs on a regular basis, Curry gets shoved, impeded, hacked and grabbed on a regular basis, in fact the other team will invariably have one of their players shadow him endlessly as he moves off the ball. The Curry situation is bad enough, but referees need to stop constantly bailing James Harden out. It is getting beyond a joke.

It doesn't matter how many shots they take, Harden will always get to the line more as he's much better at drawing fouls. For constant slagging referees get for sending him there, on vast majority of those occasions it's correct call.

And Thomas Bryant has been great for Washington too.

Getting the call for jumping forward to deliberately make contact should be changed, if the defender is stationary then it's the shooter making the contact.

It's not that newfound, let's be careful not to excuse the Lakers here. He's been a stretch 5 for over 2 years now. I don't think he's made a massive leap this season, he's just getting better shots.

Makes it even worse considering he was literally playing for them last year. I thought his 3 point shooting last year was a fluke, but he's clearly proving that it's not.

They should have paid him money even if his 3 point shooting was a fluke, dude's one of the best player at boxing out opposing players. Almost every teammate of his gets career highs in rebounds when playing next to him.

This term "drawing fouls" is something that has crept into the basketball lexicon over the years and basically means that you are causing contact to be made by a defender when he is not looking to foul. It is exactly the same as a football player leaving his leg behind in the box causing the defender to make contact so that he can get a penalty. It is nothing more than glorified cheating and needs to be legislated out of the game. Harden is a cheat plain and simple.

I agree 100%.

I also love Harden, but it's impossible to deny that he's exploiting the rules.

I have been saying similar for a few months now, and totally agree it needs to change. At the same time though, It's not like the Warriors are hard done by with the refs. Remember Zaza?

I think he's great at exploiting the rules. Whether the rules are fair is another question (they obviously aren't). It's very ugly to watch for sure.

I don't think the rules were meant to be interpreted that way though that's the problem. We have gone from letting players essentially beat each other up in the late 80s to today where players have actually resorted to guarding James Harden with their hands behind their backs because they're afraid he'll somehow initiate a foul. It' not the rules that are at fault it's how they are being interpreted and the refs and the league need to do something about it.

I will say that once the playoffs come around that a lot of this ticky tacky stuff calling of fouls does tend to disappear so at least the league is doing something right when it matters.

Is Luka the best rookie since LeBron? He is absolutely phenomenal and plays like a player on his peak.
