NBA 2018-2019

Warriors look bad, full stop. Many games they've won, they have won in a very difficult manner, and they are losing too many games by a large margin.
All their home losses are by +20 margin, which is just shocking.

James has a left groin sprain and will be day-to-day, major let off.

I mean obviously if we can get AD we should no matter what, but i'm starting to see what Magic and Pelinka saw with these guys. I really like our guys right now. Now if Lonzo could fix his jumper....

We'll be title challengers next year, for sure imho. Thank you LeBron, and thank you Magic

What's wrong with the Warriors this season?
Draymond is clearly not back to anywhere near his best after his injury. Steph and KD are averaging close to 30 ppg but they have both been all over the place when it comes to consistency. The elephant in the room though is Klay Thompson. He currently leads the entire NBA in shots missed which includes a truly abysmal (for him) 33% from three. If he can get his shot going again it will really help the overall performance of the team.

Having said all that though it's not just losing games that's the real worry for me it's how they're losing games. Their defense at times has just been awful. Fortunately, since I believe that a good part of defense (in general) is a function of effort I think that when the playoffs come around that can be easily fixed. They finished last season 17-14 over the last 31 games and then played a whole lot better once the postseason started. No worries yet, but certainly don't like what I'm seeing at the moment.

I've just watched a documentary on AI and the guy really went through so much injustice as a teenager, I think he would've turned out an even better player if it weren't for that.

I like Rivers on the Rockets, hopefully they're finally back, waiting for Paul to return now to see how he'll do.

If James Harden wasn't such a flopper and didn't benefit from shit refereeing, his greatness would be even more appreciated. He's just too fecking good.

What a buzzer beater from Bogdanovic last night. Kings don’t look like they are going away.

AD has to leave Pelicans. 48 points, 17 rebounds and they barely win at home against Dallas who have a horrendous road record. His supporting cast is abysmal, when one of him and Jrue is off the floor they get outscored by 12 points over 100 possessions which is among the league worst. I fear to think what it would be without both of them.

Lakers or Celtics bound in the Summer. Would put my money on Celtics, the only problematic thing is that probably two of their assets in picks will convey this Summer and they can’t trade either of them for AD as they need to extend Kyrie first.

It'll be interesting to see how New Orleans fairs without AD. Smallest market in the league losing a player of his caliber? Could be very bad.

Depends on what they get in return IMO. If they can get Memphis and Sacramento picks from Boston, even though they won’t be amazingly high, plus a couple of promising young players - like Brown and Smart (I don’t think they will get Tatum) then it may be a fun rebuild actually. Their own pick could be top 10 this year at this rate, they have the second worst record in the West and it could easily stay this way (though East will maybe have 6-8 teams with worse record).

Look at Kings, they were supposed to be stuck in mediocrity for years and everyone laughed at the return they got for Boogie and now they are one of the most promising young teams in the league and probably the most fun to watch. I have actually gone from softly cheering for them to staying up almost every night when they are playing  I watch Kings more than I watch Blazers right now. If NO can have a similar rebuilding model then it might not be that bad. If they get Tatum they will immediately have a franchise cornerstone.

Getting people to fill the arena will be very tough though. It’s already tough now.

Is new Orleans really smaller than salt lake, Milwaukee, indianapolis sacramento?
I think so? Indiana is mad about the sport, Sacramento and Salt Lake don't really have other clubs in other major american sports iirc, and the Milwaukee now has Giannis and a new arena. NOLA just doesn't seem to care for the nba

I'm pretty sure there's some measurement system which has NOLA ranked #30 in market size. No idea where I heard that though.

With the right amount of cockiness. I like this kinda player. Denver is a fun team to watch

Yeah he plays with some confidence. We need him to keep this up whilst we nurse Millsap back in, and wait for Harris and Barton to return.

Injuries are preventing Rockets from being great this season though, CP3, James Ennis and now Eric Gordon, I think we lost to Memphis on Monday.

I mean, things weren't exactly going swimmingly when CP3 and Ennis were playing.

Yeah but you have to remember we started 0-5 and since benching Carmelo we are back at #1 in offense in the league and went from bottom to now 5th, and are 9-1 in the last 10, so what I'm saying we can be even better.

Casual fan, is LeBron as good or better than Jordan? As in forget achievements and use your eyes (oh how I have said this in the Messi v Ronaldo thread), who in your educated opinion is the better basketball player or is their someone else on pure ability alone wins out?

The debate is mostly among younger fans. It isn't even close. Jordan is the best ever.

That's just plain wrong, of course it's close.

MJ retired for those two years and the Bulls went from a 50 win team to a 50 win team.

LBJ left the Cavs and they became a lottery team. He left the Heat and they missed the playoffs. He's left the Cavs and they're now the worst team in the NBA. They were all finals teams prior to him leaving.

Whoever watched peak Jordan playing doesn't have any doubts about this debate.

Except all those people that do.

Exactly.

The undisputed not-even-a-question GOAT doesn't leave a team, and then that team shows minimal signs of dropping off in his absence. The debate is valid and anyone who says it's not a question is living in dreamland.

I seriously doubt that you watched him when he was at his peak in that case. The people who did are overwhelmingly in favor of Jordan (that is why I say it isn't close). Few exceptions like Isiah Thomas who is still crying about Barcelona that happened almost 20 years ago do exist.

But, everyone is entitled to their opinion, so no point going further.

So, what about that stat line from Nurkic? Pretty fecking immense.

From my anecdotal observations most people over 35 would say Jordan and most under 35 would say LeBron. Very few, in either group, would say that "it's not close".

I think it's one of those things where people refuse to say or want to believe that anyone can be better than MJ. It is very much a debate and personally I choose Lebron. A lot of the argument against LBJ is his finals record but forget that he has go their 8 seasons in a row and the last 4 Years vs arguably the greatest team assembled. MJ won all his finals yes but he also got wrecked by the bad boy pistons for a few years until he beat them AND had he passed them he would of been swept by the showtime lakers with Magic Johnson. Also a retiring Larry bird ( probably one of my favorite players). Celtics and pistons whooped his ass the first few years and a lot of his finals wins were against some sorry teams to be fair with injuries included. Not a 73 win team 3-1 down. Every finals he won the other team had 1 hall of famer GSW got 4 and 2 MVP.Lebron is bigger faster stronger and overall a better player I think and in a 1 v 1 I have no doubt who I would pick. Lebron is going to end with more points and more assists along with leading scorer. So no one should bring up " 6 finals win" without looking at it in full Jordan would not get to them finals without Pippin. MJ would not carry that Cavs team last year to the finals. Hell No. Come on people LBJ is the GOAT.

MJ left for 2 years and the bulls still had the same record. Has anyone realized the absolute trash LBJ carried to the finals last season? he also would have and should have won game 1 which could of changed the series completely and then JR Smith happened. He left this season and they are last place.
