NBA 2018-2019

Why me? I might have some previous in this but generally I think you need to give players a little bit more time, unless it’s an obvious mistake.
Aren't you a blazers fan? It was meant as a joke :(

I am. Why would I be unhappy about any of our recent draft choices though? Collins was a good pick IMO despite year one struggles and it’s showing this year, Swanigan was probably a wrong pick but I don’t expect much from a 26th pick. I think both our picks this year were excellent. Simons and Trent are going to be good players in this league.

I love this roster right now. I think we are a good trade away from being a contender next year when Durant leaves. I really hope we try to flip CJ for Butler.

Wizards need to blow it up, honestly. Hopeless team and it’s not going to work out for them.

Problem is the only tradeable assets are IMO Beal and Markieff Morris. Beal’s contract is okay and Morris has only one year left and could contribute. Wall’s deal is properly poisonous, $47million in 2022-23 is just unacceptable for anybody and Porter’s deal is tremendously overpriced for his contribution although I wouldn’t actually mind him in Portland if we could get him for fifty cents on the dollar (meaning we get to offload Turner and Leonard in the transaction).

Bowie over MJ and Oden over Durant... oh well, joke didn't catch

Wall is the epitome of someone throwing away his athletic gifts because they don't put in the hard work. He's like Westbrook but without the competitive drive. They were terrible against OKC. Howard, surprisingly, looked pretty good though.

MJ was pretty much the best player in the NBA from the moment he walked in

Yeah I wasn’t born for 5 more years so I don’t know. I know Oden v Durant came down to injuries mostly, if Oden realized his potential he would probably be one of the best centers in the league right now if not the best.

I was a bit worried about this but a few weeks ago Durant (to me) gave the strongest clue that he was staying. It was an off the cuff remark but when asked about free agency next year he basically said that that he finally wanted to get paid. In the summer of 2019 the Dubs have his full Bird rights and can offer him the supermax. You're up with the rules on this kind of stuff more than I am but I think the Dubs are the only team to be offer him this. If that is the case I think he may be at Golden State for a while.

Can Dubs afford both him and Steph on supermax, while also increasing the salary of Klay? And then one year later, Green contract expires.

I hope so, want to see this team stay together and win multiple rings in a row.

Yeah will pay shitloads in luxury tax and will need to fill the rest of the roster with minimum players but it can be done.

Ayton’s defense is ridiculously bad. Like truly, truly terrible.

How good is Chandler these days? Is he an upgrade on McVee or a good backup?

probably a good backup. still a good rim runner and a good defender but far off his peak
Decent business then. After McVee, LAL don't have much in the middle.

Chandler's trash this season. He moves slower than an ant and the only thing he can defend is his excuses for sucking. His defense is worse than Ayton so far, and that's saying a lot.

If he plays more than 10 mins per game for the Lakers, it'll be hilarious to watch them realise LeBron might need to play the full 48 mins in order for them to win games.

So happy that he's become such a good player. Big shot maker.

The Joker with 16 assists, he's an all time level playmaker for a big.

First Portland’s loss to Lakers in many years. It’s all down to atrocious three-point shooting, just 6 out of 35 attempts made. 6-3 is still a great start.

Everything has gone wrong for Pelicans since their great 4-0 start. Cracks started to show during their fourth game of season against Nets but you can now clearly see they are still missing some pieces. 4-5 now and it doesn’t look positive right now.

Davis is injured. That's it. They're not a playoff team without him

As for us, good win against portland but fecking hell we need to learn to close games out

He did play last night though, didn’t he? I think he’s been trying to play through injury though. I think he might be traded within the next 3 months if they still look to be struggling. This is their last chance to get a big return for him IMO. Next year he will be an expiring and we all know what the value of expiring superstars seems to be.

Another great win for Portland. I think we could win 50 games this season. However I'm still of the opinion that we should be trading McCollum for Butler, this is a move that makes sense and I think the current production we get from CJ we could almost completely replace with Curry and Stauskas but the incremental value of Butler at small forward would be huge. Love how deep the roster is.

Toronto are playing some tremendous basketball. Annihiliated Lakers last night without Kawhi playing, they genuinely have 11-12 quality players who can contribute at any point in the game and who you can plug into the team and get good production.

I know it’s early days, but I’m really, really liking Nick Nurse as the new head coach. People talk about Kawhi but Nurse has been just as positive of a change tbh.

Ibaka playing the best basketball in his career since his OKC days (dropped 34 last night!) and the bench mob looking just as spicy.

Also watching Lebron getting dunked on by Siakam was just

Murray going off for 48!

Good win against a very good Boston for the Nuggets. Though really we need the Joker to take more than 3 shots in a game, he should be putting up 12 to 15 as a minimum.

Nah, Horford is really tough to play against and works good against Jokic. It's good that he's not afraid to defer to other players.

9-1 is an amazing start.

Toronto are great. Did not even break a sweat against Jazz there.

I think Jokic is selfless enough to pass it off when he's being guarded well, he's a team player and doesn't play with an ego. Plus Murray was the hot hand, so you just let it play out whilst he's feeling it.

Yeah it is a terrific start and importantly we have put some early space between us and who I considered our rivals for a playoff position would be - NO, Jazz, Lakers and the Wolves.

Barring some incredible bad luck with injuries Nuggets will comfortably make the playoffs this year. It’s just a question whether with homecourt advantage or not - I think Warriors, Rockets, Blazers and Nuggets will end up being top 4 but any of Thunder, Jazz or Lakers could be in the conversation.

No chance in hell Wolves finish anywhere near Nuggets record. Pelicans maybe with a good run but I also don’t think so, there have been some serious cracks in that team lately.

The Jazz have been slightly underwhelming so far. Don't think they've won a game at home yet?

Nope. 0-4, worst since the year they moved to Utah.

Plenty wrong with the team right now.

Another miserable night for Wizards. As a classic said, I don’t know what they have to do to win.

Portland have been excellent so far. Hot night from CJ, defense has done very well too. Keep it going.

Quite a few teams that’ll tank in order to get Barrett, I suppose? Guy already looks like a franchise altering player.
