Just had a look at the Laker's roster for the coming season:
- Lebron
- Rondo
- Lonzo Ball
- Michael Beasley
- JaVale McGee
- Lance Stephenson
- Kyle Kuzma
- Brandon Ingram
Couple in Lavar Ball's antics and the meme potential of that team is just . To be a fly in that locker room...
Happened to be listening to Alan Parsons the other day. Best NBA theme music ever.
From North Carolina................
You're not going crazy. Same music but this one had the player slide show with it so I swapped them. This is weird but I swear you posted this like an hour or so ago?
Leonard above KD and to a lesser degree Curry is laughable. I mean, he was never as good as them and no-one was mentioning him to be better than them when he was playing. Since then they won 2 rings being very good on both finals, with KD getting 2 MVP finals and suddenly he is above them. How does this make sense? In terms of Leonard, where does he actually objectively rank amongst NBA players (obvs when fully fit and on top form).
Am I right in thinking:
1. Lebron
2. Leonard
3. KD
4. Steph
5. ??

I said before, he has caught the Lucas Leiva flu. The less he plays, the better he becomes on eyes of many.
@RevanNo it isn't/wasn't. A lot of people had Leonard as the best two way player in the league not 12 months ago.
Not really. KD was unanimously the second best player in the league, and there were whispers that he is already the best after he won the first finals MVP, outplaying James in those finals. No it isn't/wasn't. A lot of people had Leonard as the best two way player in the league not 12 months ago.
I think that he was the fourth best player in the league after last season, and there might have been a few who had him ahead of Steph as third (mostly cause of their defenses). I don't think that anyone was putting him on KD category bar maybe a few of LeBron fanboys (to pretend that KD is not even the second best in the league, let alone near LeBron).@Revan
Yeah that’s what I was hearing
(Ps I’m a very new basketball fan so admittedly am still trying to learn! Was a genuine question.)

What? Two way player is even less defined than the 'world class' tag. It can literally mean whatever you want.

Not from me.'whispers' = deluded Warriors/KD fans.
Didn't know that the likes of Paul Pearce, Dwight Howard and many others were deluded Warriors fans. KD outplayed and defeated James on those finals. It was hardly like last finals when James played better but lost cause of no support. So it wasn't very outlandish to suggest that the top player in NBA has changed or was to be changed. Of course, LeBron followed that with best season in a long time, and put those claims to bed.'whispers' = deluded Warriors/KD fans.

Kawhi at his best was better than Curry. Easily.
Disagree about the easily part. Kawhi obviously much better defender. But Curry much better scorer and facilitator of offense. Who you would want depends on what you already have on the team. I personally would always take the player who makes a difference in the team's level of play over the individually awesome player.
He was the main reason for the team's achievements though. He was hardly a player in the Warriors system, he was the system.I find Curry overrated. He’s a great point guard but not at the level he’s perceived to be at by many which is inflated by his achievements in a great team. I think this Warriors team before Durant was the ultimate example of a team that was much more than its parts.

So him being overrated cause of achievements makes no sense.
Their system also helped him mask his defensive flaws and get better looks because everyone bar Bogut on that team could shoot.
I think if you put Lillard in that team instead of him they still win that one championship they had won before Durant.
From the Washington Post.I disagree massively here. Curry isn't the best defensively, but he doesn't need to be especially at his position.
Steph IS the system when it comes to the Warriors, he is the one that facilitates their attack - nobody else in the team can do that to the same extent, KD being the closest. Everybody has their roles, and sure they can shoot, but Steph is the leader 100%. Without him they rely on KD's ISO and individual brilliance.
Steph is a cheat code, he's a 2k player, he's a threat to score once he's a few steps past the half court, and all he needs is to be open for 1 second.
Teams have to change their entire defensive system just to try and contain him - and in doing so, opens up chances for KD, Klay, Green et al.
I would argue that, without Steph - if the Warriors didn't get KD - they would struggle to get in the finals.
There was a statistic floating around when he was injured that showed the impact of the Warriors' scoring when he's on the court vs when he's off it, and I think only LeBron has more of an impact on the team. He's that influential.
From the Washington Post.
"The Warriors’ offense is built around Curry’s ability to move the ball and draw the attention of defenders. His 1.4 points per possession in the half-court offense put him in the 95th percentile of NBA players, and Golden State’s offense is more than 14 points per 100 possessions better when Curry is on the court."
My favorite Curry stat though is this:
In the last 22 games (regular season and playoffs) that Steph has played and KD has been missing the Dubs are 22-0. In that same time period, when KD is in the line up and Steph is out they are 23-10.
I would agree with that but in all honesty Steph is what they seem to be calling these days a combo-guard as opposed to a pure point guard. When you've not led your team in assists in 3 seasons it's hard to claim that you run the point for the team. That was it! He is the system. You just can't deny his impact, and therefore deny his ability.
The underrating of Steph is bizarre, I get it - I underrated him a few years ago too. He's not particularly muscular, or athletic, looks a little weak and unassuming. But he really is an elite basketball player. He's comfortably top 5 in the league and arguably top 3. (LeBron & KD top 2, AD & Steph interchange for me, plus I have a preference towards Kawhi)
He may not be the best PG (that's still CP3 for me)

CP3 didn't lead his team in assists last season too. And to plbe fair he played more like a 2 than 1, with Harden keeping more the ball.I would agree with that but in all honesty Steph is what they seem to be calling these days a combo-guard as opposed to a pure point guard.
