NBA 2018-2019

I was under the impression he was injured for the entire year. Did he sit out this past season?

It's a bit unclear. He was definitely injured at one point. I think the belief is that he eventually reached a stage where he was healthy enough to play but he went out his way way to find a doctor who would not medically clear him.

This is like a bad fan writing. Not even worthy to be called am article.
What amused me the most was that all the tweets that the author quotes which are supposedly put in there to back up specific points made in the article were actually tweets from the author himself.

Leonard is not a top 5 player though - LeBron, Durant, Curry, Harden, Davis are all better and Leonard still has to prove he's capable of playing at the level he did during 16/17.
Agree with the second bit, but if he does I would take him over Harden or Curry.

I think he was injured but at some point he decided he's not going to come back and stared to exaggerate the extent of it.

When he was playing at his best before injury he was better than Curry and Harden.

Knox and Robinson have looked very good in Summer League, especially Knox. Could be yet another player New York fans booed during the draft because they were so focused on Porter that would turn out to be much better than the one they all wanted. Last time they wanted Mudiay or Winslow ahead of Porzingis and he turned out miles better than either.

Ntilikina, Knox and Porzingis is a decent young core. Wonder what free agency holds for them in 2018, could be big. Kantor is off the books then, they might find a way to get rid of Noah which would create two max slots if I am not wrong. Hardaway’s deal is the elephant in the room because without it they would be able to offer two max deals easily.

Can’t believe Courtney Lee has $12.7million guaranteed in 2019-20, likewise Lance Thomas with $7.5million. Awful.

Most fans didn't boo Knox. That one little turd and his awful father did, and they are a disgrace to the Knicks fan base.

I have been reading from some of the Knicks guys with insider info that the Kings have enquired about Hardaway. He is a good 3rd option, but his contract isn't the best so i'd trade him in a heart beat.

Kings sound like the type of team that could take him. Completely pointless move for them so they'd probably make it.

What’s weird about all this is how Leonard has said absolutely nothing.

Throughout this saga we’ve been allegedly led to believe that he wasn’t happy at SA, that he wanted to go to LA, and recently that he has no interest of playing in Toronto. All of this coming from alleged sources linked to his ‘camp’ but not a single word from the man himself. Now granted the fact that the Spurs trading their perennial superstar for a streaky fringe star probably dignifies the narrative of him wanting to leave, but what’s bizarre is Kawhi has not given us a peep.

Will be interesting to hear what he’ll say when he eventually speaks. He has to report to the Raptors within a week so we’ll find out soon enough I guess.

He never was better than Curry though. Of course that Curry's stats had to go down when Durant joined (same for KD) but they're both better than Leonard.

I'll take a fully fit Leonard ahead of anyone bat those two and LeBron though.

I don't actually rate Curry that highly.

Goodbye Melo. Enjoy Houston. Thanks for waiving the No-Trade Clause twice (to join and then to leave).

Pretty good deal for everybody. Melo getting all of his 28 mil or whateve it is. What a legend.

It's a bad deal for Thunder though, IMO. They will still incur high luxury tax payments, just a bit smaller than they would have with Anthony but they give up a first round pick and take on a player that doesn't fit them at all and can't shoot.

No idea why the Thunder want Schroeder for their team, he doesn't fit next to Westbrook. At best they'll have a great energy scorer from the bench - but to what costs? He's getting like 16m/year for the next 3 years.

Anyway, I would've preferred to get more for Schroeder, who I thought a year ago, would be a good asset (young, decent contract, promising showing so far) for trades in the future but it seems his value was rock bottom after two years in a row where advanced stats hated him, not to mention his off court legal issue.
So I guess I'll have to be happy with that crappy 2022 pick, good thing from all this is that we'll have massive cap space from 2019 on and that Young can develop.

I think Schroder will do much better there than in Atlanta. OKC are actually playing for something (in their heads, at least) and wanted to get better, not just reduce their tax bill. There weren't many opportunities to improve and this trade does it, while also getting rid of Melo. It's not great but if the priority is to get better, this is preferable than just stretching and waving Melo.

That is exactly what we need though? So it is a good deal. People are too caught up in the finances. Who cares? The billionaires will be just fine. The front office wants to pay, so they will pay. I doubt he'll play next to Westbrook much. He'll run the second unit.

In terms of Leonard, where does he actually objectively rank amongst NBA players (obvs when fully fit and on top form).

Am I right in thinking:

1. Lebron
2. Leonard
3. KD
4. Steph
5. ??

I'd have:

1. Lebron
2. KD
3. Steph
4. Beard
5. Leonard

Great coup for the Raptors. Taking the first seed from the East and adding a genuine superstar.

interesting, fair enough.

Tobias Harris has rejected a 4-year, $80m contract offered by the Clippers. He'll be eligible for a max deal next year (5-year, $188m Clippers or 4-year, $145m elsewhere).

Tobias. Fecking. Harris :wenger:

He won't get anywhere near the max and should have taken this deal. When all the free agents hit the market next year he will be lucky to get $60million for 4 years IMO.

I like him but he's not top class and there's not that much money around anymore. Actually I think the best deal he can get next year is something like $20million for 1 year and then hitting the market in 2020 when all the bad deals expire (that will be a Summer of inflated contracts again but not nearly to the same extent as 2016).

Some players don't seem to recognize that 2016 was one off anomaly. Most deals this year were actually less than everybody thought they would have been and Clint Capela not having a contract this late into free agency is a testament to that.

Depends on how he plays next season I guess but obviously I also think he should've taken this deal. It's not like he's playing in some shithole either, he gets to live in LA with $20m per year, crazy stuff.

Exactly and Clippers could have other targets next year. They will have $70million of cap space which can actually grow to more than that, if they have a decent season and their young players show promise they could be able to land two big players in the offseason. Kawhi could even go there as he wants to be in LA and Lakers could be out of race.

It sure looks like it doesn't it. Maybe they meant 32 million for his career. I'd heard of Ryan Anderson contract bad but that sounded like somebody had truly dropped a bollock. I suppose the GM for the Pistons could be his mother.

If a team gave Langston Galloway 32 million a year there would be hundreds of basketball podcasts where they just laughed at the contract for 200 minutes.

Just had a look at the Laker's roster for the coming season:
  • Lebron
  • Rondo
  • Lonzo Ball
  • Michael Beasley
  • JaVale McGee
  • Lance Stephenson
  • Kyle Kuzma
  • Brandon Ingram

Couple in Lavar Ball's antics and the meme potential of that team is just . To be a fly in that locker room...
