NBA 2018-2019

i dont understand trapping curry with green as the screener. green is an excellent passer. you cant let them play 4 on 3 with the ball in his hands

They started it when Draymond was in foul trouble and sitting but for some strange reason continued it with him in which is madness

:lol::lol:

I don't know man, feels like he is stuck with one way to play basketball.

Yea, even Paul coming in hasn't been able to change that. Maybe Harden is the problem and his lack of movement maligns the whole team. You look at Jokic and how the Nugget's beautiful offense runs completely through him and his ability to play bought inside and out.

Houston is a better team than Denver.

Funny thing is Harden played better this series in my opinion than the series last year. Both Paul and Harden had big scoring games but Curry hit some insanely tough shots to give the Warriors much needed separation at the end. Once it gets down to free throws, Curry is automatic.

It still doesn't make Houston's brand of basketball any more pleasing to the eye.
Systematic iso play and systematic 3pointers with little ball movement is terrible to watch

I agree about that. I think the post was about the effectiveness of the styles though. While Houston's brand is not great to watch it does work (against everyone but the Warriors anyway).

As Mark Jackson said at the end of the match 'those numbers mean nothing without the win'. In the end, Houston's iso offense ran cold in the fourth when they needed to maintain their lead and the Warriors pounched on that with ruthlessness. That's the risk with iso, its way to depended on the single player who can have an off time during a match.

This win is brutal on KD man , guy played so well but then this happens. Draymond is so underappreciated because of his antics but he is so good when it matters

I was talking aesthetically mainly but I also think Denver are a better team. Hopefully they'l go past the trailblazers, though there is always the chance they'l choke under pressure, and give the Warriors good competition.

Whatever happens now, fair play to anyone who can stop the warriors with or without KD. feck the rockets. Miserable to watch-CP3 is great though. Harden is 0-5 when facing elimination now right?

No KD and Steph still injured. That 4th quarter was some old school shit. I’m drunk and you’s can all get fecked

@charlton66 A question regarding Looney, what is his room for improvement in your opinion ? I have seen hit some nice midrange jumpers and his overall game is improving nicely

I was listening to this Nate Duncan show during the game and they were discussing looney getting paid and they couldn't really come up with a team he could go to for good money because of his unique style. I can see him probably staying with the warriors but his game has come along very nicely. He is also the youngest player on the roster , younger than the rookies even so has lots of time to develop further

Is it correct to say that D'antoni is the Marco Bielsa of the NBA? A revolutionary coach but not the trophies to go with it.

So who would be the easier opponent for the warriors ?

They will beat either without any problem. Their victory tonight has made it less important for me to win tomorrow because I am aware we will be only playing for the privilege of getting swept by them. Finals will be a challenge for them though.

Congrats @charlton66

They were terrified of Steph going off. Which as it turned out, they were right to be

Ultimately, houston lost because their role players got outplayed by the dubs role players

Iggy and Looney were the difference in this series. For everybody that scoffed at people like me saying without Iggy's injury last season the dubs would have closed it out in 5: they totally would have :D

It's their defence that allows the rockets to compete with GS. The offence helps mostly by slowing the game down and limiting fast-break opportunities(and also making steph work, banging him up and getting him into foul trouble)

That's a good point, I always thought the same. Now that entire narrative can die now

A bit of reminder how great they were/are even when Durant is not there and what a player Steph is.

Hope we can go back to that next season though. They are even much better to watch.

Curry is weird. Plays like the worst player in the NBA in the first half, and then has that legendary performance in the second half where he does everything right. I was really worried that Dubs would lose, but Curry, Klay, Iguodala and Looney stepped up big time.

The Western finals should be easier.

Well, thought Warriors would least go to 7.

Warriors vs Bucks final. Hoping for 76ers though

Rockets and Harden :lol::lol:
Experts who said that you can't win anything with that style of play were right.

Great game. If KD is back in for for the finals can’t see the Bucks stopping them.

I've got to admit Kevon Looney has definitely surprised me over the last year and a half. When he was drafted at the bottom of the first round it was thought that he was a bit of a project but could definitely contribute. Unfortunately he picked up some injuries and after a couple of hip surgeries that really slowed him down the Warriors after persevering with him for a couple of years declined his option. I've got to say at the time I was disappointed that another 1st round draft pick had essentially failed to make it but as to declining his option I didn't really care that much. Lo and behold the kid worked his arse off from that point onward. His defense and mobility (even though he is still somewhat limited because of those surgeries) improved tremendously. He also worked really hard on his offense and I still think he still has some further upside on that end of the court. Unlike some people (cough, cough, Mr. Simmons) he has continued to work on his jump shot to the point where he is now a pretty decent mid range shooter and I don't think it's out of the question that he could extend that range out beyond the three point line. All in all very happy with the lad. In some ways from a Dubs point of view he has almost been too good. Last year after his option was declined he became an UFA and was not picked up so the Dubs signed him to a one year minimum deal. He's due to become an UFA again this summer and after his performances this season I don't think he's going to be anywhere near as cheap if the Warriors hope to bring him back.

Congratulations, this was a great win. D'Antoni to be fired now surely ?

Congrats @charlton66
I appreciate it. I don't like the way James Harden plays basketball but there is no denying that he is a great player and the Rockets are a very good team. Last night's win was not as good as winning a Championship but it was pretty damn satisfying all the same.

What a clown Chris Paul is

I think that he always disliked Curry. Probably cause a very 'soft' player like Curry surpassed him as the best PG in the league and was already mentioned as one of the GOATs when he won back to back MVPs.

Rockets defensively were so poor in that second half. Onto two game sevens for the right to lose in the Conference finals.

Agreed. This was my favourite win of the series
