NBA 2016-17

Haha, in that case a lot of people will change the situation, but I was thinking since people usually have MJ as someone who can elevate a team to greatness and all so if he will be a big difference compared to LeBron here.

And if not, that puts the whole Jordan vs LeBron thing is a different perspective.

For casuals, maybe. But we shouldn't be having this discussion on that level. "Hurrhurrdurr ringz Erneh"

Thompson on fire the first quarter. So is LeBron but that's not news.

LeBron goes out for 90 seconds and Warriors go on a 10-0 run.

GS are good but frustrating. They should be in a much better position right now.

Well we're actually going into a fourth quarter worthy of staying up for. Kyrie has gone full GODvrie in the third. Needs to maintain it though to close it out though. LeBron probably still needs to be on every minute from here though, but the timeouts are there to allow it.

Steve Kerr is not doing a good job. The Warriors are trying to force the issue and not playing smart at all

That the key against Golden State; slow the play down to a crawl and be disruptive whenever possible. Hard ask, but with Cavs depth and personnel, doable.

Le sigh. As a neutral, it's pretty embarrassing to see such a mismatch. I don't think you can get a better performance as pair than LeBron-Kyrie put up today and it was deserving to win legit any games, but yeah, GSW ridiculous talent depth allowed them to steal it...it'll be the least celebrated title in history I think.

The game was really really good too, but just ended in a what's the point.

Cost of re-signing Kevin Durant -32M
Cost of signing Steph Curry to a max contract - 207M
The moment when LeBron realizes KD is wearing the same number as his finals record - priceless ;)

Why all the hate for GS? They built from the draft and got 1 free agent, which is the way it should be?

What was the point of the Celtic's tile? Or Miami? Or Clevelands? They weren't celebrated either (Actually, they were)

There really isn't a difference. If other franchises could draft as well, they might have a chance too. Look at my sixers - multiple top draft picks, but a complete shit show.

It's basically complaining because a team is better all round (front office and on the court) than otheres.

Simmons - Embiid madness incoming this season. Sixers NBA champions 2019.

I heard neither of them are even fit for summer league. If Embiid stays fit he will be the best big in the league though.

I don't really know where to start to be fair, for one, I don't hate the Dubs, I just hate the TOO good factor of all this. I've barely paid attention this whole season, and well, nothing has suggested I should have outside of a MVP race that never had any bearing on the title. I skimmed most of the playoffs....due to knowing they'd be odd mismatches on both sides in the vain hope something would happen in the finals, and the massive mismatch has shown again.

Celtics as covered previously in this thread need to stop being brought up, they weren't even the favourites when they made the moves, and more to the point, it was 3 players on the slide(all over 30 and at a push only KG in the top 10), GSW is 4 elite players more or less in their prime(under 30, 2 top 5....), it's not comparable. Rondo didn't overly become elite until a bit after when the big 3 were further on the slide. It didn't create massive mismatches either, their 2008 run to the title was incredible. 4-3, 4-3, 4-2, 4-2. And again followed it up the year after with a CLASSIC series against the Bull 4-3, and Magic 4-3.....

The Heat created this kind of mismatch, even though I didn't overly like it either, inexperience then injuries killed off the Bulls, the Pacers ran them close....forget the Mavs and Spurs giving them all kinds of trouble in the finals. But all that led to creating the LeGod we know now, but only so much Godliness he can do.

Cavs need to find a way of getting a fourth elite in the fold to stand any chance moving forward.....how they do that I don't know. But theres a big market out there this summer. I don't know, really. As I said, it's not a finals or title that will live in the memory due to complete lack of competitiveness. It'll just all hopefully lead to an intriguing summer.

Should be noted that LeBron is on course to join Kareem and Magic as two time sweep losers in the finals. That Sixers also added Moses when they were already quite heavily favoured made a mockery of everything in sight too. That should get more mentions that the Celtics and the Heat do....given he was MVP.

It wasn't just any old free agent they added though. It was the second or third best player in the league (to go with the other second/third best player). It wouldn't have been possible if the league had let the cap spike so much either. Without that there would have been no way they could manage to sign Durant. Credit to them though, they are a really well run organisation.

How was that any different from LeBron joining Wade and Bosh in Miami though? I don't know enough about the cap to comment there.

They are well run and unselfish. I don't enjoy watching them play (prefer big Centers) but there's no denying they are unselfish and more than the sum of their parts - exactly how a sports team should be

I am not a basketball fan so cannot be accused of any bias. I find it funny the criticism that GS get in terms of being too strong or Durant being a coward for joining them. It isn't their job or their goal to make it fair to the rest of the league. They are here to win titles.
If United could be so dominant, wouldnt't we love it ?

Well it was a selfish move by KD....OKC had just taken GSW to 7 in a series they should of won, and he just kinda fecked them off for the easy ring instead. And yes, that's no different to what LeBron did either, but at least in his case, it was the easiest ring in NBA history. But I give them credit, Stephs taken on cheap contracts for years, he's a super classy guy, and deserves his max payment....for which KD will step aside from having a max one to allow.

I kinda hate the obsession with rings and shit in American sports really, especially more recently now everyone has a voice, it drives this. You know, players like Malone, Stockton, Barkley, Nash, Miller, Ewing, Iverson etc aren't thought of as anything less than they should of been because they didn't win them. And that's partially because none of them chased until well past their prime. Though given some of the shit Paul gets, maybe you just get away with it any more....despite the fact that everything suggests Paul is well a top 5 player of his generation, and his standards don't drop in the playoffs, a single player just can't do everything. I wouldn't blame him for whatever he does this summer. Personally I still Gary Peyton as ringless, who the hell even remembers he was on that Heat team?

It isn't really that different but there are small nuances that make it worse for me. Like, Miami finished as the 5th or 6th seed the year before LeBron and Bosh joined DWade but the Warriors were arguably the GOAT reg season team and should have won the finals before they even added Durant. They didn't need him to be a chance to win and by getting him they've destroyed parity in the NBA. But you could say LeBron has done that in the East for years anyway and it is a fair point.

Not really. I think the least interested I've ever been as a United fan was that season when they smashed Arsenal 6-1 and won in like March....I barely remember anything of that season -_-

The whole 'max contract' thing is an issue I think. I understand why they have it but there is less of a chance that 'super teams' are made if you don't have a limit on how much you can offer a player.

LeBron was on the floor for 46 minutes and was +7 during that time. They lost the game by 5. Unbelievable.

I'm sorry that is some fecked up logic for me. You live for these moments of victories because you never how good it is until you don't have it anymore.
