NBA 2016-17

If you didn't like game 2, you don't like the game of basketball

Cavs have to be perfect for 4 games to have a shot, but we already knew that

Hopefully the 3 days rest will be enough for LeBron to recharge and playing in Cleveland, the warriors shooting % will get worse while the cavs role players will start making their shots

But if we get 2 more games like this one and the dubs sweep, i wouldn't complain. Incredible quality of b-ball on both sides. Cavs would have blown out any other team playing like they did tonight

LeBron can get all the rest, and he still won't be able to defend Durant and also do the damage in attack. Cavs have to choose if they want to concentrate LeBron fully in attack, or do like in the first two matches, when he tried to do both, and couldn't even match Durant. We all knew that for Cavs to have a chance, LeBron needed to play far better than Durant, but so far KD is outclassing him.

Has Warriors % really been that great? Curry shot .41 from the field and .364 from three pointers. He is going to shoot better in the next match. Durant on the other hand is shooting as good as he has been during the entire season, and while he might have a bad match in this series, it is foolish to expect that his shooting will be sub .55

The rest of Cavs upping their game is the only thing might save Cavs. James, Kyrie and Love are playing very well, but the others aren't. On the other hand, the likes of Iguodala and even West/Livingstone/McGee/Clarke are playing much better. But still, the main thing is that so far it has been Durant > James and Curry > Irving, and Cavs needed both these duels to go their way in order to win this. To Kevin Love's credit, he has been outplaying Green, which is the main reason why these two matches haven't ended in an even bigger humiliation for Cavs,

Love has not been outplaying Green at all, Green has been a monster on D. Love wasn't particilarly good in game 1 aside from rebounding

Love and Kyrie haven't both been great in the same game

As for shooting %, dubs shot 51.7% and 41.9 3PT. Cavs shot 45% and 27.6%. They will need to shoot above 50% and the dubs below 50% and above all, they will need to shoot above 40% from 3 and dubs below 40%

It's not going to be a sweep.
I'm also not going to predict a sweep, I think that's just asking for trouble. However, what I will say is that based on some of the things that have gone on since the Cavs victory last year (LeBron's "Ultimate Warrior" T-shirt, the infamous Halloween party with the Warrior tombstones, the incessant 3-1 memes, and last and probably most important the fact the Cavs did come back from that 3-1 deficit) I will be very surprised if there is any sort of letdown for the Dubs in game 3.

Green was bad yesterday IMO. He made stupid personal fouls, which meant that Durant had to get more exposed in D. To Warriors' luck, Iguodala replaced Green in a very good way.

Dubs have better shooters than Cavs IMO. I cannot see how Cavs will shoot better than them. It can be argued that Dubs have three best shooters in the league.

I thought it was ridiculous when James/Bosh joined the Heat, but this is a whole new level of bullshit. Gorgeous basketball, but not great for the league as whole.

Just waiting for Durant to go back 'home' to OKC and bring it home for the city

Cavs are just setting up the 0-3 comeback mate.

I find it difficult to feel sorry for the Cavs when they have goaded the Warriors for the best part of a year since the last finals.

They wanted this match up, the memes & petty jabs have created even more unnecessary drama & attention.

Umm, okay. It's not overly that simply, it's not a case of "disliking" it, you had 3 stellar performances from the big 3, you had the supporting cast all play well. It's just well wasn't much of a game after the half.

It's a massively outmatched matchup, which is insane given it's the finals and well the Cavs easily got to the finals too, the simply fact is Cavs have to play near perfect to possibly claw out wins....the Dubs can afford errors and still win by a wide margin. Cavs barely or couldn't really react to the Durant acquisition, which has created this mismatch. I think you'll find a lot of moves this summer due to that.....or maybe people will just give in for the next few years and just accept massive loyalty contracts instead.

Green wasn't bad, but KD might just be the best center in the league  Ridiculous performance on both ends of the floor

and i didn't say the cavs will shoot better than the dubs, i said for the cavs to have a chance, it has to happen. Most likely the dubs will take at least one game in cleveland and close it out in 5, if not a sweep

Get the feck out with that bullshit.

It was an amazing match to be fair. Sure, Dubs won by a huge margin, but it was a great basketball match (especially the first half when Cavs were somehow competitive).
How do you smother all of Curry, Thompson and Durant? They kept on pulling the Warriors ahead when first and second play options broke down.
JR Smith should do a better job on Curry, and you hope that KD has an off match. But there isn't much you can do if Curry and KD have their A match with them.

Kyrie and Love needs to play the best basketball of their life, and James need to at least be as good as Durant in order for Cavs to lose with just 10 points difference ;)

Hmm, Cavs have been doing the same in the Eastern Conference. They have the best player in the conference/league, the third best player in the conference (IMO) and an another top 10 conference player. It is hardly that they are a poor team.

I think that the difference in conferences is very big, and is a pity. I think that Spurs are the second best team in the league, to be fair, and they would have gotten 2 if not more matches from Dubs if Kawhi didn't got injured. But yep, it would be interesting to see what teams do in the summer if Dubs complete their sweep. Do the stars accept loyalty contracts, or do we get an another one or two superteams (CP3 to Spurs). Is there any chance for Cavs to get Hayward/George in the summer (I guess no)?

I dont think the dubs will sweep at all. It seems they really rely on momentum, fans getting hyped up and have very explosive runs where they blow out, but I doubt they can replicate the same in Cleveland. It was a very tight match in the first half, the end score gives a very bad view of the game I think.

I hope for another superteam next year, Paul George to move to a good team would be great.

Game up to the middle of the 3rd quarter was excellent. I can understand why the rest would sour things for the neutral fan.

KD has been forced into inefficient matchups over the years in OKC during the playoffs. The problem is, you can't do that now without getting torn apart by Curry and Draymond.

A prime Pippen or Malone would be handy for this Cavs team. Even then it would be a tough ask.

Yup. I think unfortunately we are just going to have to tolerate 2 more years of this shite and then by then the young teams such as the Bucks, Jazz and the Celtics (as much as it kills me to say it) will be able to make a good enough challenge (if they stay together). Hate the way the KD to Warriors thing happened but at the same time Cleveland got quite lucky themselves in having Kyrie, Lebron and being able to add Love, so they cannot complain.

Sixers could be dope as well.

Overall yeah, a pretty shit time to be an NBA fan, especially one who's a neutral, and to make matters worse is nowhere near being a fan of smallball.

well you better get used to it - this is the future of the league. The game has changed and it won't be going backwards any time soon.

Honestly, you could have ignored the playoffs till this point because Game 3 is really the first game these playoffs that actually means something with Kawhi getting hurt in Game 1 of the conference finals. Unless Boston or the Spurs make a big time acquisition during the offseason or for some crazy reason, Durant or Curry doesnt resign, the NBA landscape is set for the next 5, 6 years with GS winning everything.

CP3 to Spurs and Paul George to Cavs. Make it happen!

George to Cavaliers is impossible unless Indiana just decide to give him away for nothing (Smith and Shumpert).

Switch with Love (assuming that Cavs can convince George to sign a long contract)? Love is a good player, but George is on an another level IMO, and will help Cavs to match Dubs.

With George playing at 3 and James moving to 4? That could work but I feel they still need Love's rebounding and finishing.

LeBron wants to win now so getting Paul George to sign a long term deal I don't think is a deal breaker. He's already hamstrung the Cavs with getting a max deal for Tristan Thompson and overpaying for J.R. Smith. If he further puts them in a hole when George leave for nothing in a years time LeBron will just jump ship to find another possible super team to help him extend his legacy.

Cavs are not giving Love for a season of George. And LeBron is not a fool, bar joining Spurs (or Dubs  ) there isn't a better team for him to play than Cavs.

That's what I am thinking too. I think that James can be as good as Love on rebounds.

If LeBron thinks that will get him another ring, Dan Gilbert will do what he's told. As to the Cavs being the best team for him, without LeBron they are an average squad. Whatever team he decided to go to would automatically become a contender.

That's the narrative but I don't buy it. He's playing with the third best player in the conference and an another top ten player. Which team he can join that will give him better chances to win? Spurs is one, Clippers might be another one (but I don't think that they will be stronger than Cavs, and will be playing in a more difficult conference), maybe Bucks/Timberwolves but he will need to wait for a year or two for those teams to grow and by that stage he will be 34.

James knows that his best shoot at winning an another ring is with Cavs. Though to be fair, George might see greatness and continue at Cavs even if he signs just an one year contract.

I would take the Wizards with LeBron and the Celtics with LeBron over the Cavs with LeBron, especially in a years time when Boston have one number 1 pick already and a shot at another.

Marcel Fultz won't be a superstar in his first (or second season), and neither will be the pick in 2018. James isn't exactly young nowadays, he can't wait for a team to grow.
