NBA 2016-17

One of the more interesting OKC stats this year I think. Despite the narrative that Westrbook is poor in clutch situations he has been extremely impressive this season when closing out games. He was again today against the Pelicans - but was pretty average in the first three quarters.

EDIT: Awesome performance from Chris Paul before too. Really hope the Clippers can stay healthy until the end of the season now.

KD ruined what was a brilliant defense of his teammate by saying Shaq had no skill, but everything else he said was true.

As a Wizards fan I know 1st hand what a clown JaVale is...but, there's comedy and then there's mean spirited bullying.

No need to humiliate the guy, and this has been going on forever.

Barkley is completely different...he very rarely attacks the individual on a personal level.
Is that untrue though? Shaq was bigger and stronger than everyone, but he was one of the worst shooters that I have ever seen. Most of his points were by simply outpowering his defenders and then scoring easy points.

Essentially, if Shaq was 15 cm shorter, he wouldn't be playing in NBA.

That was Westbrook at his best. The dunk on Cousins. Wow!
One of the best dunks I have seen this season.

On a side note, am I the only one who thinks that Davis is playing center and Cousins power forward? Which looks a bit weird to me.

God I hate the 76ers and their reporting on their injured players. I have Embiid in fantasy and he was supposed to come back "any day" for a fecking month and then yesterday they said he's out indefinitely and he'll have a MRI. That MRI happened yesterday afternoon and since then...nothing.
And what goes on with Simmons? First he was supposed to miss half of the season, in January he was already back to limited practice but then we had a month of silence until the message came out that he's not returning this season.
Normally I wouldn't mind but all that stuff coming from the 76ers sounds shady as feck and it's really frustrating that we don't see those talents playing.

I recall Shaq being quite mobile and a decent dribbler/handler, especially for his size. He wasn't Greg Ostertag or Oliver Miller out there. The size comment could apply to hundreds of players over 6'8" throughout time.

Not entire true. See Shaq in his Orlando and early Laker days. As he got bigger through his career, then he started only using power moves.

I see the shaq thing has already been answered...he wasn't Hakeem...but, how many are? Shaq was extremely quick and agile for a big guy. Not to mention, he developed a couple of go to moves over the course of his career.

Getting back to today - my Wizards quietly beat the Dubs, while everyone was watching Agent Orange give his speech.

But, importantly ZaZa Pichulia decided to take out KD...end result, KD out with a hyper extended knee. MRI to come to see the extent of the injury...

Could very well be only 1-2 months. They will need him for the conference finals.
He'll be back for the playoffs...it's still going to be a big deal. He's going to need to get back into peak form...they'll have to readjust the rotation. Not to mention, I don't think without KD a no.1 seed is guaranteed.

I think it is all but sealed. If Spurs maintain their form they'll end up with 64 wins which will make them 1st seed only if Warriors lose at least 8 games of their reamining 22.

Yeah, it's unlikely....but, 4 games behind - think Spurs have a couple of games in hand and they still have to play each other a couple of times.

I think they will comfortably get no. 1 seed. They have 10 losses now, Spurs have 13 but in fewer games. Spurs will likely end with 16-18 losses and I don't think Warriors will suddenly lose 6-8 games in the rest of season. They are still one of the best NBA teams with Iguodala instead of Durant in the starting five. They'll apparently sign Matt Barnes as a temporary back up solution.

On another note we are slowly catching up in our tanking race. Already nearly got to Minnesota and New York level (they are 24-36, we are 24-35). Hope New Orleans can catch some form and surpass us soon which will only leave Philadelphia, Orlando, Brookly, Lakers and Phoenix to compete with. Philadelphia and Orlando are mildly achievable, however Lakers and Suns are in full tanking mode so no hope there. Brooklyn will obviously finish with the worst record in the league (and not even get a top pick for that because the morons traded all their picks to Boston for a bunch of 36-year olds in the worst trade ever).

Miami, Milwaukee and Denver are almost out of sight now. Bad thing is Sacramento will tank very badly and could still surpass us. I think we are now projected as no. 10 but think we will move to at least no. 8 if not no. 6. From 6 you have a good chance to make top 3.

Provisionally, if KD is out a couple of months he would miss the first round of the playoffs and the way Steph has been playing in the last couple of weeks I think the number 1 seed is far from locked up.

If they fall to number 2, we all know who the current number 7 seed is..................

Chris Haynes‏ Verified account @ChrisBHaynes
Golden State forward Kevin Durant suffered Grade 2 MCL sprain, tibial bone bruise. He will be re-evaluated in four weeks. Out indefinitely.

Durant gone for the regular season for sure - playoffs it is.

Sporting News is actually reporting that according to the Warriors statement it has not been ruled out that he could play again before the end of the regular season. I do think it's ironic though that this info actually came out on 3/1. :)

Only 2 games separate the ends of the spectrum that Utah, Memphis, LA and OKC are in. If I was a Warriors fan I'd probably choose OKC out of that lot for a first round matchup.

KD is my favorite player and him getting injured sucks. I hope he'll be ready for playoffs, otherwise no way that Warriors are gonna win the title. Heck, I would even bet on Spurs winning the conference playoffs if KD doesn't return.

In terms of actual overall ability - possibly. The trouble is that the Warriors - OKC match up has an awful lot of intangibles. I'd probably choose the Jazz or the Clippers. I don't think there's any way the Jazz can outscore the Dubs over 7 games and I think the Clippers are actually beat before they even step on the court with or without KD.

Embiid is out for the rest of the season...torn meniscus is worse than originally thought.

Sadly, he's not going to fulfill his potential.

Pop will still rest players at points I would think. So I don't think the Spurs will be able to get the #1 seed even with Durant out.

Now that Bogues has also joined the enemy, the Cavs are well and truly stacked. I suppose LeBron gets what LeBron wants. I guess already having the highest payroll in the NBA was just not enough. Even if KD gets healthy, this Cavs team will be awful hard to beat come June - for anyone.

They'll still need Love to be fit and play well, especially against a team like Golden State. But yeah, Bogut off the bench is pretty good.

Eventually Curry and Thompson will make those shots though.

First time I have seen Nurkic play for Portland and i was very impressed. Looks like a great trade for the Blazers. He embarrassed an atrocious Adams.

Warriors looked shit without Durant. And for whatever reasons, the coach is criminally underusing McGee and Iguodala.

I can't get my head around why Denver traded him, I know he has some stamina issues but when he has started this season he is good for almost a double double and 6 assists. His passing is ridiculously good, probably the best passing big in the league.

48-17-9 for Russ. Shot decently too, apart from at the 3pt line. Rest of the team just sucks so much at the moment. Frustrating to let the last two games slip with Clippers and Memphis losing too. Need Oladipo back ASAP. Pelicans and Spurs game was interesting. If New Orleans had run better plays at the end they might have had a chance.

Denver traded Nurkic because of his attitude. The moment he was benched he started sulking and not giving even 50% on the court. Also because Malone wants to pursue different kind of strategy without rim protector but with good passer, hence why they traded Nurkic for Plumlee.

Nurkic is a great talent but he's hardly even amongst top 5 passing big's in the league.

Both Gasol brothers, Cousins, Jokic, Plumlee, KAT and even Horford (even tho he's a 4 he's been playing as 5 this season) just to name a few.

Never mind, Got mixed up and I was thinking they traded Jokic.

Racism.

Silver has said they'll change the All Star game by next year. "It shouldn't be playoff intensity, but the guys should be playing".

Maybe home court advantage for the team coming out of the Conference that won the game? I think that's how they do it in baseball isn't it?
