NBA 2016-17

McDermott to OKC is interesting as well. Westbrook has a legit shooter on his team now.

It is exciting. Also, Gibson was a good get too. Will be much more effective than Sabonis in the playoffs, and Sabonis gets a great player to learn from. No back-up PG at the moment is a concern though.

Cousins and Davis had a very good game. They still lost by 30.

Surprisingly Harden didn't have that good a game as well scoring wise.
Yeah Louis Williams killed it. I don't really get why Lakers traded him, probably to a) tank better, b) clear a bit of salary (he wasn't making much), c) get a younger player on a longer deal.

They got Brewer, who has declined so so much, and also took Ennis off our hands for Huertas who we waived in order to clear a bit of cap space for a buyout, upcoming few days should be interesting.

Will LeBron win MVP? I don't follow the regular season closely but I've been reading his form has been close to his career highs recently?

Think that will happen more then people expect against the top teams. The rest of the roster barring those 2 are pretty poor in truth.
Holiday is not a terrible player. He had a bad night yesterday but he's starter quality IMO. Surprised they did not go for Lou Williams but he's not much of a defender and besides they did not have much to offer Lakers as they don't own their pick anymore and could only send 2019 pick which would have been poor, so maybe after all I am not shocked.

They will be big players in free agency in the Summer. They can clear the cap to get around $40M to spend. Assuming Holiday takes a $15M contract, they will still have $25M to $30M to spend. They would do very well to test the waters with an offer to Caldwell-Pope who would fit them like a glove, there's a good chance that Detroit match but they might not match. They will probably make an offer to Paul, and if that fails, maybe Redick (Clippers won't be able to re-sign all of Redick, Griffin and Paul). They will probably look at Hayward, Lowry etc. although it's a very slim chance, they will be one of few NBA teams able to offer max deals to maybe even two players (if they clear a bit of cap: Asik, Hill etc.). There are also less glamour but good players: Teague for instance.

They're an interesting project. Yesterday, in spite of a dreadful result, showed that there's a chance that Davis and Cousins can play together. If they surround them with decent players, they will be up there.

Doubtful. I think it's going to be between Harden and Westbrook with Harden being a stronger candidate at this point. Then again James also has a case and will find it much easier to get votes.

I hope in off season Rockets go all in for Hayward, would be the best fit and the piece to complete the team.

Bill Simmons mentioned something similar earlier in the week to. But then I remembered that Boogie hates Chris Paul and even said so on one of Bill's old video Podcasts. So I can't see CP3 going back there.

I do agree that they will be a good destination for free agents. Problem they have is that Boogie is essentially on an 18 month lease, so if it doesn't go well he will bolt anyways.

He won't even get close to the other two in terms of votes.

It'll be between Harden and Westbrook.

But, James should be in contention, his numbers are incredible - his team is at the top of the conference and if he wanted to...he could easily get a triple double every night.

KD is another guy who should be in with a shout.

Still it was worth a try. He might re-sign, he might elevate them to a new level next season, and they did not really give up much for him.

O yeah from a Pelicans perspective, It's 100% worth it. Probably the only chance they will get to give AD a team that may compete for a Championship. It's a bit like when the Nuggets tried to do the same for Carmelo and got him Allen Iverson etc. (for the record that was probably my favourite ever team to watch).

Iverson was different.

He had already been in the league for 11 years and his best days were behind him. The amount of punishment his frame took is beyond comprehension. Philly were going nowhere and Iverson demanded a trade.

Well Boogie had done all but that over the last 2 years hasn't he?

It's the same principle though, What other superstar were the Pelicans going to get to pair with AD? None of the other Superstars would go there if we are being realistic. This was the 1 chance to land a top guy and give AD a team that can compete, before he ends up wanting to leave aswell.

I'm not for or against the trade - just saying the parallels with AI don't hold up. Not to mention, I think Boogie has issues, he is simply one of those guys who has a great heart and is a great player...but, he is unstable. He's always one second away from having a meltdown and it'll be no different in NO.

The Pelicans had to take the chance - after all, Cousins in the best big man in the game and potentially a top 5 player...but there is a reason, there weren't more bidders - only a couple of teams wanted him.

How? They needed some spacing and shooting.

Because he's much better than Sabonis and defensively duo of Adams-Gibson is going to be very strong.

They got shooting in McDermott. Not much more but he can shoot.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner.

Man that Shaq and McGee twitter battle reminded me how thick NBA players are. I felt dumber just reading that. Oh and same goes for Paul Pierce's reaction to draymond Green; a 10-year old could've come up with a more creative answer.

He should be in contention. I'd say he is a victim of his own high standards though.

There is always a bit of animosity between the older generation and the younger generation in the NBA but, I can not remember anything like the whole Shaq and Barkely versus the current NBA especially the Warriors. Here is Durant talking about Shaq.

Shaqtin A Fool is funny, but Shaq's singling out of Javale McGee became personal a long time ago. If it really was all about just bloopers, how come in his best season ever JaVale is also being shown more than ever. There is actually a decent chance he may end up leading the entire league in field goal percentage by the time the season is over (needs 300 attempts to qualify and currently has 211) since he stands at 67.3% which is currently 2nd behind DeAndre Jordan. Shaq is just trolling for ratings and is being an ass at the same time.

The fact it reached a point where it can hurt him on a personal level and his name got connected to it means it went too far.

Nope. There is no way that can be justified him being MVP. Even Durant has arguably better numbers, playing in the best team in the league with the MVP of the last two years.

I think that Harden is the favorite, followed by Westbrook and Leonard. The big three (James, Durant and Curry) while are very likely the best players in the league, cannot get MVP this season with Harden getting these numbers. Of course if Durant and especially James wanted, they can get significantly better numbers and probably average a triple double per match but then:

a) They will get tired for playoffs.
b) Their teams probably won't do as well as they are doing.

I can't even put Barkley in the same category as Shaq.

Barkley states his opinion on basketball without going after players. He didn't think the Warriors could win the title. He called out LeBron for crying for more replacements. And when the Warriors and LeBron responded, Chuck took it well. He didn't get emotional. He stood by his opinion.

With Shaq, even before McGee responded, the criticism was just becoming disproportionate and over the top. And when Javale responded, Shaq sheds any pretense of professionalism and goes after him on Twitter. Acting like a fecking kid. And this is on top of Shaq not being able to contribute to debates on TNT, always referring to his rings when Barkley brings up a good point.

Paul Pierce showing Draymond his place.
 if that is deemed as "showing his place". More like he was unable to come up with a quality response on the court and had to fall back on joke we've heart a thousand times over the last year later on twitter.

KD ruined what was a brilliant defense of his teammate by saying Shaq had no skill, but everything else he said was true.

As a Wizards fan I know 1st hand what a clown JaVale is...but, there's comedy and then there's mean spirited bullying.

No need to humiliate the guy, and this has been going on forever.

Barkley is completely different...he very rarely attacks the individual on a personal level.

I didn't want to be accused of Warriors bias, but I thought at the time - a two year old could have come up with better than Pierce's response.

Yeah I'm definitely no a Warriors fan but Pierce's comeback was very lame.

Bulls have got Cavs number this season. Wasn't it their third win over them in 3 games? Admittedly LeBron did not play but still.
