NBA 2016-17

He makes it look easy. I'm not sure I am fully appreciating him.

Westbrook actually had a quadruple double last night as he had 10 turnovers.

Do anybody think Spurs have a chance beating Warriors or Cavs in the playoffs this season? I am big fan of Spurs and they have a great team but for me defence is not as good as it was last season with Duncan and in offense we don't have that All-Star player. Gasol, Aldridge, Green and Kawhi are all good but I think Spurs need a top top offensive player who could take a ball is a final seconds and take responsibility and who could keep up with other team on his own when other are resting.
Saying all that, would it be to much to wish that Spurs clear space for Westbrook :nervous: It is a shame that he extended his contract.
Is there any other player who will be a free agent soon and who will fit into Spurs team, preferably in PG position since Parker is starting showing his age and Mills is just not good enough to be first team playmaker for a team who wants to win playoffs?

Paul can opt out after this season and he would be a perfect fit (Westbrook not at all btw.), would have to take a paycut tho. But who knows, could be his last chance to get a ring.
I disagree about the need for a top offensive player, you have that in Leonard (and partly in Aldridge).

Westbrook has another, not even at the end of the third as yet.

Another crap display from Spurs another win. But it worries me that with quality (or lack of it) Spurs are showing now they have no chance against Warriors in playoffs. They have a good record 17-4, second best in the league, but especially in offense they are just missing something. Second quarter was shocking.

Very disappointing that Clay didn't play in the last quarter. He was going to reach top 10 if he had played in the last quarter.

He's the best defender the best two-way player in the league, but that's going too far.

Spurs need more scoring power in offense to win against Warriors in a 7 game series, and even their defense will be exposed due to the presence of Gasol.

This. In seocnd quarter today/yesterday it showed how we are lacking quality in offense and when nothing comes of there is no one who could step up.

What a great game he had. 28/11/11. Gets my vote for best center in the league currently.

Cousins and Davis (if we count him as center) have been better this season.

Cousins is the better scorer and probably a better rebounder, but that's it. If he put in the same effort on the defensive end, I'd agree. Marc does everything well, the only knock on his game is his rebounding, which he makes up for in defence and high BBIQ.

Davis is a 4. Gets bodied too easily by centers to play there full time.

Yeah I'd say Davis is a 4 as well but the gap between smaller mobile 4s and centers is very small these days really. Everyone is expected to shoot well too which is funny considering there were so many centers who were clueless in that aspect in the past - now you only have a few dinosaurs (albeit very good ones) like DeAndre Jordan and Dwight Howard who cannot shoot. Of the new generation of centers both Towns and Embiid are excellent mid-range and perimeter shooters, even Okafor who is a typical post-up player is a decent mid-range shooter (can't shoot a three though). Gasol is a very good shooter now too.

I like Gasol a lot. I'd still have Cousins ahead of him because of his amazing scoring and consistency but he's a proper nut job while Gasol is a very intelligent player. Cousins' defence is not that bad BTW.

Gasol gets my vote as well. Overall he's the best currently but there's a lot of talent in that position.

Embiid looks like he'll take the crown soon.

Towns is an even bigger talent than Embiid. He's absolutely ridiculous.

We'll have to wait to settle that, Embiid is in his rookie year. KAT is brilliant obviously. Mine is more of a hunch that Embiid will reach bigger heights. He's absolutely scary good.

 becoming a bit of a legend that man.

Timberwolves have been so disappointing. I thought Thibs would get them playing better basketball and win, he got results against the odds at Chicago but they look very unlikely to make playoffs.

Wouldn't take any center over him right now.

Cousins and Davis (if we count him as center) have been better this season.

From an individual stats perspective, probably. If you ask the Spurs, Warriors or Cavs who they would rather have on their team right now, they're all taking Gasol first.

I must mention I'm at a point in my life where I'd gladly lay my life down for him, if needed.

Random NBA content.

So Zach Randolph lost his mother recently, and was on indefinite leave from the team. He came back yesterday and played against the Sixers. It was the second game of a back to back and our team was fatigued so it wasn't as easy of a game as you would have expected.

Late in the game, Philly missed a shot to tie the game and Z-Bo wrestled the ball for a rebound. He's done this a million times for us, but it was his 1000th game and his first game back since his mom passed, so it was an emotional moment for the team, fans in the stands and us watching on TV...

Just a microcosm of how the Grizzlies and Memphis are the perfect fit, how the city has embraced the rough-tumbling, gritty, low scoring efforts and highlights over the years. As Z-Bo put it after a shock victory against the number 1 Spurs in 2011...

It's a blue-collar town and I'm a blue-collar player, I'm a hard worker and this is a hard-workin' town. Ain't nothin' been given easy to me, ain't nothin' easy been given to this town."

The transformation of Marc Gasol has been quite interesting. I remember him playing years before he went to NBA, and he looked to me as a more physical but way less talented Pau Gasol. I never imagined that he will reach a level almost as good as his older brother.

He is really the total package nowadays, and while he can do a bit better on rebounds, he is still arguably the best center in the NBA.
