NBA 2016-17

I agree they have been the best team so far.
They've only lost to Thunder by the way, they defeated Spurs.

Why did I remember that they lost there

Makes the point even stronger. Even against Thunder it was a very unlucky loss. Could this be their year?

I think the short answer to that (IMHO) is no. I think only the Warriors can beat the Cavs and that assumes the Dubs eventually get their act together. If not I can't see anything but back to back for LeBron.

Money on Warriors to lose tomorrow? Tempted....

Yep I'm all over that. Nuggets beat them last year and they are very well equipped to challenge them. Good perimeter defense and most importantly, good interior offense - Jokic and Faried might find a lot of joy down the low post, Nurkic will also score some. Nuggets are well rested and at home too.

Much as I hate to say it, it's probably a decent bet. Warriors on a back to back, at altitude and thoroughly inconsistent at the moment. Remember also, they were blown out on their last back to back with the second game away from home and a travel day in between (OKC - Lakers).

On the other side of the coin, the Nuggets just finished a five game road trip Tuesday, and either had a red-eye flight Tuesday night or a travel day Wednesday. In addition to that, they lost the only home game they have played so far this year.

Who said betting was easy. :)

What happened now?

And when is Simmons expected to be fit to play?
Lost if Overtime, without Embiid.

No idea on Simmons. Apparently his agent is holding out for the season. He never wanted to come to the Sixers.

Embiid is the F'ing truth. The guy can be a monster.

We should do an over/under of who will win more games at the Wells Fargo Center this year. villanoava or the sixers.. Nova only plays 4 games there but will probably win them all

The stars have all aligned for us to knock them off.

Embiid is a beast and has been well worth the wait. I hope Simmons gives it a go once his foot is healed, personally I'd like to see an Aussie play for an (adopted) Aussie coach.

And if he does want to leave, who can make a fair deal for him?

Coach won't last. Sixers are in win now mode, which is laughable with the team they have. Noel will also be traded :( since they couldn't agree a contract.

I might go see the sixers this year because they are dirt cheap

Yet clowns like Stephen A Smith continue to rant against Hinkie. However bad it is right now, the sixers will have the last laugh. Wait and watch.
Nah we are the sixers. We will find a way to F it up.

Which of the three big C's will Phili look to deal out? I imagine Embiid will stay, but you've got three top talents essentially for the one position.

Edit: I see you mentioned Noel as the trade-bait. What would they land for him?

We need help at all 4 other positions. We tried Noel as a 4 and it simply didn't work.

I don't think Okafor as sixth man works either. We need them both out for a PG and SG IMO. That team will need to grow for 3-4 years to have a shot at being good.

They have no reason to deal Simmons. He has a long contract and then they could still match his next deal, so he is theirs for 6-8 years if they want.

How about the Rockets getting the W against the mighty spurs? Another Harden 15 assists and he played great D.

Not much. Will be a free agent next Summer, has had injury issues, his offensive play has not improved, so his stock is not very high. They can expect Olshey to offer them Crabbe in January, unless we can move for Cousins.

Hawks having a great week. Finally we managed to beat the cavs again after what, 11 losses in a row? And most important, they won against the bulls the night after so didnt burn out of energy or anything. Schroeder and Baze were great, Sefalosha with good d on lebron. Yesterday the bench really stepped up. Overall the whole team seems to be clicking. Howard has been great, we're finally getting rebounds, so far not missing Horford one bit.
I'm surprised how well Charlotte have started, did thy have easy opponents?

I think it could be the year for the Clippers. Thunder are weaker, Spurs also don't seem to have gotten any stronger since last season, and they have a (at the moment) fit team with a decent bench. Really their only serious competition in the West is GSW. They should be making the WCF at the very least.

When Steph is on, offensively he's the best there is.

I see Steve Kerr pulled KD with over 5 minutes to go. It looks like his 20 points/game streak is over. Similar to what he did with Curry the other night. I think he is trying to teach this team a valuable lesson after last year - records are nothing, Championships are all that matter.

Lakers might be borderline playoffs team if they carry his on. Obviously early doors and they won't actually make the playoffs, but pretty sure they won't be bottom 5 and will lose their pick finally.

Nick Young tried taking a charge from Boogie.

Luke Walton is some kind of shaman.

Yeah Walton seems to be an excellent choice. With three young talents it's surely exciting times ahead for Lakers fans.

What happened with Randle and Cousins?

Watching the Knicks vs Celtics... it's so obvious that this is rigged. If there was an equivalent ref performance in football I'd be worried for their family.

God, our interior defense is amazingly crap. We were 5 ahead against Sacramento with 30 seconds to go and still allowed them to take this into overtime. As per usual Lillard and CJ bailed us out with some insane shots, I love it how they attempt contested shots out of nowhere and they still fall. 36 and 31 points respectively.

Gay and Cousins were great for Kings. Really, really hoping we can get Cousins, he is annoying but a great player. Problem is our supposed assets have been so bad they will laugh at us if we offer them. Only Harkless and at times Crabbe could hold their heads up high. Davis has been very bad and Evan Turner has been absolutely abysmal, destroying any flow the team has when he comes on.

Nothing major. Both dismissed there was anything in their post game interviews. Probably just some trash talking that continued after the game. They're both from Kentucky, so they have respect for each other.

Cheers.

Watching the Dubs is like watching an all star game - lots of offense, very little defense. It is fun to watch though.

So any early predictions so far on the start of the season? Assuming everyone stays fit by the play offs.

Can anyone challenge the cavs in the east? Or the warriors in the West? And who will take it all?
