NBA 2015-2016

He was never an all-star, as established as his role was by then I don't think it's the same.

Fair enough, they never actually needed to make a splash until now - They had Timmy,Parker and Man Utd all in their primes, they had guys like Finley and Bowen who brought a lot to the teams... I think they have finally realised that having Kawhi as your best player won't necessarily get you far in the playoffs, with an ageing Duncan, a washed Man Utd and a somewhat washed Parker.

Gerald Green to Miami - 1 year deal.

Surely an upgrade ?
And for the minimum as well!

Anybody who is just average at shooting 3s is an upgrade for Miami!

Hopefully he doesn't forget how to shoot the ball when he comes.

He is a top 5 dunker in the league as well which means absolutely nothing come playoff time but Wade can finally do this again

Also turns out Dragic's deal wasn't for $90m but for "just over $85m".

This was the other side of NBA free agency. No need for lengthy negotiations. No discussions with other teams. No haggling for the maximum salary.

So, instead, on the first night of NBA free agency, Pat Riley awoke Goran Dragic from a deep sleep in Slovenia, made him a very rich man, and then allowed him to peacefully resume his slumber.

That was at 12:01 a.m. on July 1. Thursday, the first day NBA free agents could formally sign deals, Dragic did just that at AmericanAirlines Arena.

The five-year deal came in at just over $85 million, about $20 million less than the maximum for a player of his NBA tenure, but an amount that Dragic and his agent believed would allow the Heat to reemerge from last season's lottery struggles, especially when 2016 free agency rolls around.

"If I go back to my childhood. I was raised like that," a smiling Dragic said as he sat with Riley to his right and coach Erik Spoelstra to his left. "My father and my mom, they raised me that money's not everything. I still got a good deal. I could get more. But it doesn't matter. The most important thing is that I'm happy, and I'm happy to be here.

"When you find the right place, I want to stay there as long as possible. And this is the right place."

Of not talking with other teams, even with it common knowledge that the Los Angeles Lakers, among others with considerable salary-cap space, were interested, Dragic said, "I knew where I wanted to be."

So after the Heat front office called both Dragic and backcourt partner Dwyane Wade at 12:01 a.m. on July 1, Dragic was the first to sign off.

"They woke me up," Dragic said with a smile.

"He wasn't too happy," Riley laughed. "I wanted to have them give him a cup of coffee or something, I said an espresso. And we talked."

An hour and a half later, the agreement was reached.

"And he went back to bed," Riley said.

No need, Dragic said, for further discussion.

Lakers already have space for a couple of max deals, problem is the quality of free agents on the market, and the fact competitors for their signature have better stacked teams also with space.

Also anyone with any raptors knowledge want to banter me about our offseason deals? im 50/50 right now.

he was part of the party that went to DJs house, so I'm assuming.
That would be a good deal I reckon.

I'm a casual NBA fan, dont watch it as nearly as much as before (like 15 years ago :) ) Matter of fact until I played 2k12 I didnt know about many actual players. :)
Anyway I remember when Clippers sucked and I started to like them cause they were a huge underdog and it stayed despite the fact they dont suck like that anymore. :)

I used to like Rockets while Olajuwon was there. But that was a long long time ago of course.

I'm assuming, based on your location, you're a Hezonja fan now?
Yeah, I'm a fan of every Croatian player out there. :)
I hope he'll do good there, he has it all to make it big imo. He was great for Barcelona.
Rudež and Bogdanović esp had good first seasons.
Šarić is coming too to Sixers (I'm not sure if its this or next season though).

And that was just for 1 year, he ended up leaving 19million altogether, he certainly didn't need to do that as Phil wasn't around.

Still left 7 million on the table.

Let's see a source because I'm pretty sure you are wildly wrong.

"Most of us have aspirations for being businessmen when our playing careers are over. But that starts now. You have to be able to wear both hats. You can't sit up there and say, 'Well, I'm going to take substantially less because there's public pressure, because all of a sudden, if you don't take less, you don't give a crap about winning. That's total bullshit. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard."

"Obviously, he took a pay cut," Kupchak said of Bryant, who will be paid $30.5 million this season and was eligible to be offered up to $32 million next season under the terms of the new CBA. "A substantial pay cut. A lot of people look at it and say, 'Well, that's not a huge financial pay cut,' but it was a negotiation that we felt like was pretty quickly accomplished and fair on both sides. We're comfortable."

"Despite his prior protestations of the prospect, the extension does represent a fairly substantial pay cut for Bryant — it's a roughly 23 percent decrease from the $30,453,805 he's making this season, and about 27 percent less than the $32 million he could have made next year had he sought the maximum possible salary the Lakers could have paid him. It's not the kind of flexibility-ensuring extensions that fellow all-timers like Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnettinked, though, or the sort of everyone-takes-a-bit-less approach that allowed for the building of the Miami Heat's Big Three."

"The contract will make him the only player in NBA history to play 20 seasons with one team.

But he's taking a pay cut to do so.

Kobe will make $23.5 million in 2014-15 and $25 million in 2015-16, according to widespread reports.

That's a ~$7 million pay cut from his 2013-14 salary of $30.5 million.

Under NBA contract rules, the maximum value of a potential two-year Lakers contract for Kobe was ~$67.9 million ($32.8 million in 2014-15 and $35.1 million in 2015-16).

He ended up leaving ~$19.4 million on the table in order to stay a Laker"

Deron Williams to Dallas?

I must commend Mark Cuban though, he has somehow managed to get his team into the playoffs 14 times in the last 15 years.

It is great if the Blazers gave Kanter the max offer sheet just to mess with OKC. They will not make the playoffs so might as well mess with others.

Wow, a great day for Knicks Fans. 15 years of overpaid flops, yet he may have been the worst contract of them all.

And Nets free of D.Will...finally.

The funny thing is while D.Will and Amare are liabilities to Brooklyn and NY, they are assets to Dallas and Miami... one man's meat that sorta thing.
