NBA 2014-2015

My NBA2K Career player is playing for the Hawks. Yup, time to ask for a trade.

Seriously though, this is strange and the email is too long that I stopped reading at the crowd part.

The part about white flight is probably pretty accurate. The Braves are moving to a stadium in the suburbs to make it easier for their predominantly white fanbase to get to games without having to go into Atlanta where the demographics shift, especially around their current stadium.

The points to criticize were 1) the arrogance 2) the way he flaunted it in Cleveland's face and 3) the trend towards super teams it could start.

1) They didn't say "not one, not two, not three"
2) He wrote a respectful letter
3) They are just replacing another super team

As for missing a team, the difference is that Toronto and Cleveland drafted and developed a superstar, just like Minnesota did. Miami signed a ready made superstar. It is obvious why people feel for the fans who watched a player from their rookie year to leaving more than they do for Miami's bandwagon fans who got the prime years
I somehow missed this reply.

No, that was not the main thing he was criticized for. It was joining forces with other superstars to form a super team, and quitting on his struggling team. He did it again now.

His move to Cleveland and the reaction to it proves that those people were talking bullsh*t when he moved first to Miami. They were just "emotionally" hurt because they wanted to see him win with Cleveland so they can write a nice story about him when he retires (or because they were feeling sorry for the Cleveland fans), and all that talk about how forming a superteam is a bad idea was all emotionally-motivated bullsh*t.

People only started to talk about "the decision" and the "not one not two..." as a major point after Lebron already won a title, when they tried to repair things with him. The talk was different in the first few months after he left Cleveland.

Woke up to the Durant news. Absolutely shattered. Just wanted one season where the big 3 stay relatively fit. Hopefully Thunder don't drop too many games without him and he doesn't miss longer than the expected 6-8 weeks. Huge chance for Westbrook though. Was pumped for the start of the season before this news, a little flat now.

I think you guys will be fine, and may benefit from Durant being out for a while. He looked like he was running on fumes in the playoffs... a miserly Grizzlies team, a Clippers team with something to prove, and the Spurs juggernaut was too much for him and Russell to overcome. If his comeback is managed well then it could make the extra difference needed.

Going to be one long season for us Lakers fans :(
Did we expect anything different? I still think we'll be more competitive and have a legitimate push for the playoffs this year, atleast better than last year. Although that's not saying much.

Reduced from 2man hero ball to 1man hero ball. I wonder if Brooks will now finally work on some proper offensive sets.

It'd be nice if Lamb or Jones could really step up this season. I expect Brooks will just play small with Jackson. Curiously, as a New Zealander, what do you think of Adams? I really like the look of him. Chances on displacing Perkins as a starter?

I really rate the kid, and he has a decent chance of displacing Perkins later this season (going off pre-season form), but knowing Brooks we should expect Perk to come back into the starting spot once he's fit. Obviously I'd be biased because I'm rooting for a kid from NZ, but he had a pretty good rookie year, did well in the play-offs when he got extended minutes, and looks to improving his free throws and finishing off catch-and-finish baskets in the paint. His biggest issue is still his clumsiness on defence which gets him into foul trouble. Being physical is one thing, but sometimes he looks uncoordinated and his feet don't move as fast as they should, which coupled with his big frame and growing reputation for fouling all adds up to unnecessarily reduced minutes. Still, he has a lot of potential, and I'm pretty excited to watch him develop. My actual team is Minnesota, but last season I watched more OKC because I was following Adams (and because watching KD and Russ go off is the most fun I've had watching basketball since peak Nash was running the Phoenix offense).

And if Brooks starts Jackson, then the second unit will constantly be getting steamrolled. Who would provide the danger off the bench? Waiting for Lamb to get good is starting to feel like waiting for Cleverley to get good around 2012-13.

Wiz racking up pre-season injuries. First Beal, now Rice. On the bright side Porter looks like an NBA player. Looking forward to getting started.

I have to admit I'm hoping Durant goes to DC next contract and we get to see Wall, Beal, Porter and Durant in the same starting 5.

If Porter comes around of course.

That's the rumor. Pierce holds the fort this year for Durant. Durant's a local kid-would be a great fit.

Having Durant and Wall would be a nice change from the dreck that's been here the last few years.

Steve Nash ruled out for the 14/15 season with a back problem. I wonder if he should call it a day after this, at his age with such an injury. Lakers will need Bryant to be at his game this year if they want to make a playoff push.

Nash will most definitely retire now, but I wouldn't be surprised if he picks up his $9-10m that he's owed this season and retires at the end of the season.
Hes openly spoken about earning what hes owed in the past.

Yeah, was thinking about that too. Personally, I just think it's a shame that such a great player has to retire this way. Especially in his MVP years with the Suns, he was unbelievable. Haven't enjoyed him too much lately :(

Yeah it's a real shame when you can see somebodies body giving up on them, especially when their prime was so high.

I think people will remember him as one of the best PGs ever though, anyway. Even Lakers fans don't really dislike him, which would be slightly understandable when you consider what LA gave up for him and how his time has gone in LA.

Indeed, maybe we should've started our rebuilding process instead of going for a couple of extra succesful years but it could've turned out a whole lot better too with him, so.. I started to really like him after he gave that ball away to Smush Parker in the '06 or '07 playoffs... "Bryant, inside, BANG" :D Still gives me goosebumps, good old times.

But yeah, Nash, he's a shoe-in future HOF'er, third all-time in assists only behind Kidd and Stockton, that's some achievement.

Lakers just can't catch a break now, can they? :( Unreal statline from Davis, never expected him to be this good this early when I first saw him in the league, to be honest.

Yeah those poor long suffering Lakers fans. I feel sorry for randle but I hope the Lakers never make the playoffs again.
Wishful thinking, in my opinion. I think they'll be contenders soon enough after Bryant retires. And if he has another year of strong performances in his legs, I think they'll make the playoffs this year too, albeit to get swept by the Spurs of the Thunder.

I'd agree the West is too strong for this Lakers team, but I hold my judgment until at least the end of next month. Before his injury, Bryant was still the third best player in the world for me. It could become clear very soon that they're too weak though.

Good win by Miami (107-95).

Bosh with 26 points (on 50% shooting) and 15 rebounds. Definitely earned his wages today. Wade with a little scare in the 3rd quarter, but I guess he's ok since he dropped 12 in the last 6 minutes of the game.

Norris Cole with 23 points!

Good start overall.

Just toothless without Durant. Westbrook was pretty awesome to be honest but when he's off the court there is just nothing. Have to just try and keep it respectable until Durant returns and then go on long winning streaks.
