NBA 2014-2015

Kyrie Irving was insane, farq I love him.

It was good to see Dante Exum have a good game too, it's great to see we (Australia) have a top talent in the NBA.

Agreed. Australia are looking decent in the NBA. Mills was huge for the Spurs last season, Bogut is pivotal for the Warriors, Exum is developing, and Ben Simmons will hopefully be a top 3 pick when he is able to be drafted.

Must win for OKC today too. Pelicans just won't go away and have pinched the 8th spot. Brooks finally taken Singler out of the line-up, despite it needing to be done four or five games ago. Mavericks are slipping it seems so it will be interesting to see if they get dragged into this playoff spot battle too.

If only Kyrie had chosen to play for Australia! We would have quite a good team with him, Mills, Bogut, Exum, Baynes and Dellavedova.

Nah he's not really, but at least he's there ATM. Hopefully he develops into a good role-player, and he's got Irving and the King to learn from at least.

OKC have the potential to ruin a few post season parties. Golden State could go down as the best team to be eliminated in the first round, Harden could win MVP then immediately be eliminated by the team that traded him, and if they meet Cavs in the final they would definitely ruin LeBron's homecoming.

Of course, none of this is happening without KD. Russ is really good, and every now and again he's great, but without Durant they might not even make the play-offs.

Still not convinced we'll get the 8th seed at the moment. Anytime I start to get positive we just drop away and get more injuries. Warriors have to play the Pelicans soon, it will be interesting to see if Kerr rests Curry, Thompson, Bogut etc because he would prefer to face them than the Thunder.

Raptors in freefall mode. I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up around 5th seed now. Pretty much just in autopilot mode until the playoffs.

The discrepancy between the East and West gets more ridiculous each passing year

If KD comes back, Thunder are getting 8th seed, no doubt. But even if he doesn't, I think I'll back them over the Pelicans. Westbrook is Westbrooking, Kanter is a massive improvement over Perkins, Adams is back and doing well on D, Serge is spending more time in the paint and less time shooting outside shots, Morrow is consistently draining the big 3s, and the emergence of McGary adds urgency and energy to the bench.

Or, you know, Brooks and clueless hero-ball in clutch situations will just negate all that.

Irvings last 3 games : 37.3 PPG 63%FG 87%3PT 88%FT

I think the Suns and Pelicans both have really tough games remaining, shouldn't be a problem for the thunder to get the eighth seed. Cleveland are heating up at the right time too. Probably be a Miami year one scenario where they win the East but lose in the finals.

NCAA Tournament starts Thursday for those of you who just like basketball. It's a great event and starting at about noon it's 12 straight hours of basketball. 16 games Thursday, 16 Friday, 8 Saturday, 8 Sunday. Then two more weekends after that.

Ibaka out having knee surgery now . This season is just a joke.

No thread this year?

I'd be ecstatic if the Western standings stayed like this until the playoffs.

Sums it all up with the Jazz and Charlotte game. You'll never guess that the Jazz are the team with no chance of making the playoffs from the way they played today.

Detroit can feck the feck off. 10 game losing streak prior to this game, then everyone decides to make it rain 3's. Even Tayshaun got in on the action.

Literally sick smh

Thunder have a big four game homestand coming up .If they can win all four games, they'll have a good chance of getting that 8th seed though it's looking increasingly likely GS will crush them even if they make it. They're lucky Kanter and Mcgary have really stepped up and Adams is back .

Yeah I don't have high expectations even if we do make it. Warriors are clearly the better all-round team. We would need Durant and Westbrook to play at a very high level to win (which is possible but they would have to do it consistently against the best team and Durant can't even get fit at the moment). I really hope Brooks is gone after this season, but I doubt it. If we had a better coach I would give us a real chance considering the talent we have.

Yeah I'd agree with that. How Brooks hasn't been fired is one of the NBAs great mysteries. I'm also beginning to narrow down the western conference contenders. Like you say OKC has the talent but they need to be healthy and they have to play the best team in basketball to make it out of the first round. If they do then they will be legit. The other three contenders as I see it are GS, SA and Memphis. The Clippers have no bench, Dallas has no rebounding and Portland have no Wesley Matthews. Houston I'd have in limbo depending on Dwights level upon his return.

GS>Spurs>Memphis>Houston>Clippers>OKC>Dallas>Portland is how I'd rank them if the playoffs started today

@Samid hows the gambling been going this year or have you managed to quit?

Quitting is never an option! I'm 66-51-3 NBA wise this season. It's nowhere near as prolific as last year but I've still managed a decent profit of £9k. Mostly playing it safe this season with singles, occasional doubles. Last season was a freak year where I got on a roll early on and used the profit to land big accumulators. That fearless betting has been replaced by a much more sensible approach this season.

Not too bad, still a £9k profit over a few months is rather healthy.

Any tips?
