NBA 2014-2015

Memphis schedule is really tough, they still have games against the Blazers, 2 games against GSW, Cleveland, LAC, Dallas, OKC, and SAS.
Yes I saw that but they have more home games, they're already a game ahead, and they'll hold the tie-breaker as well against the Rockets (tied in head-to-head but have better division record). Also the second game against GSW is before the last game of the season, and there is a good chance GS will rest their best players for a tough match-up in the first round of the playoffs. On the other hand the Rockets have more away games, and I think the ins and outs of Howard might disrupt their rhythm a little.

It's a tough call, but for all those reasons I think Memphis might still edge it.

Memphis have been in a funk since the All Star break. Mike Conley is being rested to alleviate a chronic ankle issue. Our shooters from deep have gone cold, making teams double up on our bigs. We've struggled to hold onto wins, prime example being Detroit a few days ago.

At the moment as long as we win the division I'm good.

So news out that Durant didn't practice and is still feeling soreness in his foot. Getting to the point where Thunder should just go for the lottery. We probably wouldn't beat the Warriors with Durant, we sure as hell won't without him. Sack Brooks in the off-season, get everyone fit and have a real tilt at a championship. Although Duran'ts foot is a bit of an issue...hopefully it isn't career threatening.

Pretty weak slate of games today with the highlight being Pelicans vs Suns. As much as I like Antony Davis, i still hope the Pelicans lose so we get the GS vs Thunder first round matchup.

It may be the after effect of rushing him back from injury before the break. Even with Durant and Westbrook (and Ibaka) it will be a tall order to top the Warriors in a series.

How is the draft looking this year? Any talent coming through in the 3 or 5 that OKC could use?

I am not totally sure but people seem to be saying that the draft talent is quite deep so I would think there might be.

That window of opportunity closed quick as feck for the Thunder man.

It's gonna be open for another 3 years. But damn, that window was vastly shortened by a ridiculous run of injuries, how unlucky could a team get.

I don't think KD will stay tbh, after that OKC can enjoy ISO Russy which will be fun but will never win them a championship.

FUuuuuuuuuckkkk Keeeeeeviiiiiin Duuuuuuraaaaaannnt, Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck Keeeeeeeeviiiiin Durrrrrrannnnt. So catchy.

I'm sure he'll stay. Not that I'm ITK but I wouldn't give up playing with Russ and Serge, especially when both guys are still in their peak. When those 3 are on the floor together, they usually destroy the world, and it's not like Russ takes KD's shots away from him (contrary to popular belief). Surely this 3 year run of ridiculous bad luck will end, and when it does, what situation would be better than being at OKC?

I don't think he will leave either. Really hope we can keep Kanter. Durant hasn't even played with him yet :(. But our team is pretty deep if we are fully healthy, not sure Durant could find another team as stacked.

Steve Nash officially retires. One of my favorite players ever. One of the best passers and shooters in NBA history. He had an unbelievable career especially since he did not turn into a top PG until he was 27 and peaked as a player at 31. Those D'Antoni Suns teams that Nash lead changed the NBA for the better. It started to get the NBA away from the slow paced/iso basketball that dominated the early 00s and moved us in the direction of the high tempo/ball movement type basketball we see in the NBA today.

The Nash/D'Antoni Suns team is what got me into basketball, and Nash remains my favourite player. Brilliant passer, great shooter, insane vision, and feck-all defence; he was like the Scholes of the NBA. Pity he never got that ring.

I think Durant to the Wizards is gonna happen. He gets to play with Wall and Beal. He'll get to beat up on Eastern conference teams and make it to the playoffs every year pretty much.

no chance in my opinion. Someone of Durants ability will be solely looking for Rings not just play off experiences, his character and MVP nod will want to see him up there with the greats of the game not just his generation and to do that he needs a championship calibre team. other than playing in his hometown he would have zero reason to ditch a core of Westbrook and ibaka all within the same age window 26, 26, 25 respectively for Wall and beal? only reason he leaves OKC would be to join a team he considers to have more potential in the medium term, someone with cap space and picks to burn, or a team with organic growth and chemistry.

I think Westbrook and Durant will both stay as long as the other does.

I think you're underestimating John Wall a bit. The guy is easily good enough to be a number two option on a title winning team. I'd also argue that moving to the East represents his best chance of getting those rings he craves.

Wall + Durant is a ridiculous combination. They just need a decent defensive centre along the likes of Asik or ideally Robin Lopez and they're basically the top 2 seeds in the East. Coupled with a much easier way into the finals compared to the West, it's tempting as hell for someone like Durant to have an easier time in the season, ready to go all out in the playoffs relatively rested compared to someone from the West who has to go through a brutal season just for a place in the playoffs where at least 6 out of 8 teams has a decent shot at winning the conference.

So 4 teams are fighting it out for the 8th spot in the east, I have a feeling Boston will get it, who do you gus think will get it?

I think the Bobcats/Hornets will get it. There are a few games between those four teams left which should be interesting.

As far as the East is concerned I'm getting myself ready for a 4-0 first round exit at the hands of James and co, but I think Brooklyn will take that final spot.

OKC got blown out. Terrible performance.

It has been the story of the season basically. OKC are beating the teams below them and teams in the East, but against any playoff contender in the West it has no hope. Will be an ugly series against the Warriors. Although the Spurs looked good, would love to see them hit top form and challenge the Warriors.
