Wait, I'm supposed to forget about his entire career, and just judge Melo on half a season?

let's be honest here, we're not talking about player's carreers right now, we're talking about the NBA as it is, the thread is titled NBA 2012-13 isn't it?
we're talking about games in particular, players' seasons right now, etc. how the Lakers are struggling, how good the Thunder and Clippers are playing, etc.

Apart from certain people derailing this thread with baseball chat and top 10 lists of all time players (unjustified at that), this thread is about how the situation looks now.

Do we talk about how good our treble year was when discussing premier league games on here?

Damn I wanted to watch it but I guess that makes sense with the time difference.

heh, for once (except on certain sundays) I actually don't have to stay up past 3-4 am to watch the Knicks play, I can't say I was bothered :D
Although I must admit I missed the "home-court" feeling in the game and the socks everyone but Prince wore were just weird and unnecessary :D

I'm just glad that the Laker's game was atleast close, and not a blowout. I hope we pick our performance up now, and get to winning forms.

Lakers are 1-9 against the teams that are leading their division. Even if we limp into the playoffs, we'll be dumped out in the first round.

D is not good enough and the turnovers this season are ridiculous. Kobe now being asked to do Nash's work on D, just too much for Kobe to do on both ends.

Miami used to have a similar problem in the past two seasons. The playoffs are different.

Great game just ended. Bulls win in Boston on a shot by Bellinelli with a couple of seconds to go.

A bit of controversy with the last jump ball call leading to the Bulls taking it to overtime

Whether the Lakers even make the playoffs is another issue.

I think they'll make it comfortably in the end.. They have the quality they need in crunch time, and they are only a couple of games away from a playoff spot right now..

They'll start a good winning streak in about a week from now which will turn things around for them.

My prediction: They will finish 7th. (LAC vs LAL  )

They might make the playoffs, but they'll get plummeled by either the Thunder, Spurs, Clippers or (very unlikely to meet them, but) Memphis.

Felt bad for Dallas at the end of the game, but KD was just too good. Give the ball to him Russell.

Gentry sacked. Wtf are the management thinking to get rid of him when the main problem is that they keep trading our best players every year

From the little I have seen of KD this season, he looks a meaner, more determined player. I have a feeling that he is going to come one better this season. He is hungry.

Durant definitely seems more focused and intense this year compared to last. He has the same look Kobe does that no-one is going to beat him whereas before he was a bit 'too nice'. Picked up a few technicals as well this year which I don't remember him doing last year.

Since the lakers are not going to pick up the title this year, I'm hoping OKC can go all the way.

Clark's a decent player. Lakers will lose this.

Lakers D is still amateurish. Too many shots missed, surely D'Antoni can't be so blind that he doesn't realise we're not a jump shooting side.

Clark remains impressive. MVP, MVP!

Howard ejected. feck these referees. cnuts.

That's a technical? Really? Just feck off.

Finally got going with the jump shots. 4pt game at HT.

The T which ejected Howard was a disgrace.

What is the problem with that call?

There was hardly anything done, the players just made slight hand contact at most. If you are going to call a technical for that then every game will have multiple ejections.

Layup after layup. Pathetic.

D'Antoni has done nothing to address the deficiencies on this side. Bring back Brown!

There have been an average of 7 technical fouls per day and over 500 so far this season. I think this type of thing is well within normal bounds of a technical call. Your real issue should be with Howard for doing that while already on a technical.

It was just a normal arms entanglement, not worthy of a technical.

Besides, the Raptors guy initiated the contact and stared down Dwight, who just kept his cool and quiet.

I think you've been watching too much Pistons.

Brown and D'Antoni might just work, defensively and offensively.

Not going to happen though.

I had a feeling this team was over when D'Antoni was hired over PJ.

Lakers struggling again. Embarrassing watching this side right now, how D'Antoni is still in a job is beyond me. His stubbornness is costing the side. cnut.

What a joke this team has become. Getting tired of watching this shit night in and night out. Howard is so gone next year....then we will really be fecked.

By again, you mean they haven't stopped struggling all year? It's brilliant. Obviously I won't celebrate them missing the playoffs yet, but they'll need to win about 26 or so in the second half of the year to make it. Still achievable.

But this could end up just being like when Chelsea were 3-1 down to Napoli......

Lakers, what's wrong with them. Absolutely no hope of making the playoffs. They still don't seem comfortable. If Howard goes next year, i don't know where we'll be.

They are just 4 games behind 8th and there is half a season left. As much as I would like them not making it, I think they'll finish 8th or better.

Getting into the playoffs will just prolong the embarrassment that this season has become.

D'Antoni is oblivious to the problems facing this side when everyone else can see the issues: we're not a speed team, there are far too many turnovers as no-one really knows what is happening on the offense, we're not a 3-pt shooting side, we need to play some fecking defense and you make the system fit the players not vice versa.

Gasol's not had a good season but he's hardly been given a chance in this shit system D'Antoni runs. The guy was immense in the Olympics and you have to give him and Dwight a chance to play together and post-up the opponents; not sending Gasol to attempt 3-pointers whilst Howard is all alone in the paint.

Most coaches would relish having 2 elite big men in the roster and getting them to play together for most of the game. D'Antoni is too lazy and has just adopted the policy 'fit my system or you don't start'. Shit coach.
