Nba 2011-2012

hahahahah....we didn't speak too soon. That was an epic meltdown/comeback. One for the ages.

You expect everyone else to do that...but never the Clippers. Great effort from them.

Forget being 1-0 down, forget losing home court advantage. The Grizzlies need to get over this emotionally first. Quick.

Man, they must be thinking now: How the hell aren't we 1-0 up?!

we jinxed them didn't we?

28-3 run to end the game...we jinxed nothing. They choked like no one else before. Giving up a 25 point lead in 8 minutes...WTF?

I've attended over a hundred Bullets/Wizards games over the years - we have for 95% of that time sucked, and I've seen some scary things... but those last 8 minutes were :lol::lol::lol:

Nice to read that Nick Young have a good game, I always thought he could be a decent player, perhaps he'll get that chance with the Clips. But rough to lose Caron Butler, and tough for Butler after missing the Mavs run to the title last year.

I'd still expect the Grizz to win the series, but it should be a very good one.

22 points, 18 boards and 4 assists for Josh Smith, he's turned into and absolute beast this season. Put your money on him being in the All-Star game next season.

There is no easy path in the playoffs.. Miami could be the favorites in the East at the moment (with or without Rose by the way), but it won't be easy. Remember last year? The Spurs? The Lakers? ...

The West is almost always far more stacked than the East. Piss easy for Miami with Rose out.

The Clippers are slightly (because of Butler's injury) the favorites now IMO..

I could be wrong, as I seem to disagree with the majority here, but I'm still not convinced the Grizzlies are that much better than the Clippers. I just have the feeling people are kind of over-reacting to the Grizzlies win against SA in the playoffs last year.. People also seem to under-estimate the Clippers a bit..

The Clippers have size (in Jordan), athleticism (in Griffin), creativity and a clutch player (in Paul). If their supporting cast can give them some kind of help, they have every chance IMO.

I don't think Rose had that much of an impact last year against the Heat (when he was healthy) tbh..

I agree, logic says without Rose it could be comparatively "easier" for Miami, but losing your star doesn't "guarantee" you'll fail.. Look how Denver reacted to losing Carmelo. Look how the Magic are reacting now to losing Howard!

There is no piss easy for any team in the playoffs. Just a typical fan reaction to a blow out win in game 1.

Rondo suspended for one game for the chest bump to the referee. He is a very good PG, but his actions at times are questionable.

Not a typical fan reaction because the Heat beat a crap Knicks side. It's a reaction that only the Bulls can stop Miami from winning the East. Without their best player, the Bulls have no chance at beating the Heat in a playoff series.

If they did somehow beat the Heat, then we can easily call Miami the biggest collection of chokers in league history. Even surpassing those late 90s Heat sides that always manage to choke come April/May.

Heat 2-0 up, good performance from them, every time NY got close Heat built up a lead, good ball movement from them as well.

The atmosphere at OKC is like a college game, very noisy.

I was hoping Dallas would give OKC a tough series. Apparently not.

In other news, Amare injured his left hand (laceration) after punching the glass case of a fire extinguisher in frustration, after the loss to Miami.

Amar'e Stoudamire punches the glass enclosing the fire extinguisher after loss to the Heat and injures his hand. What an idiot!

Edit: Dammit Adex, beat me to it.

He probably did it on purpose, hoping to not have to play the next couple of games. Total flake. Hated him since the Suns days...when it was obvious, he was completely a product of the system, and that hate hasn't abated with his move to the Knicks.

OKC up 2-0 against the Mavs. Things are looking good for them, but still a lot of work left. Dallas won't roll over like United have in the past few weeks.

Spamming like a mofo....

don't know what to think about OKC.

they've gotten out of jail twice.. I just don't like them. They have no offense other than iso, and durant is just too passive sometimes.

They look like the Suns with Barkley...great regular season team, but maybe lack the ability to grind things out in the playoffs.

But they're young, and starting to figure things out. I don't think they'll win it this time around.

The main thing I've noticed is that the Grizz went from out of the playoffs to the 4th seed, and past the Clips, since the mid way point in the season. They're one of the hottest teams in the league right now. Of course anything can happen in the playoffs, but the Clips are also on their first real trip into playoff basketball in a long time, they lack the experience of the higher intensity of the playoffs, teams in their first trip rarely do well. And the Grizz did have a great experience last season, rather unlucky not to get past OKC.

The Clips may well win, but most of the indicators, for me, point to the Grizz.

Well I'm sure the Thunder would rather win by 20 so not sure how it is not exactly a tough series for them. Game 1 buzzer beater and Game 2 surviving back-to-back three point misses from Terry. As close as possible a game can be decided - total of four points in two games.

OKC should take a game in Dallas though but this is certainly not a route, unlike say the Heat-Knicks garbage.

Greg Popovich wins coach of the year, extremely appropriately.

Popovich received 77 first-place votes. Chicago coach Tom Thibodeau was second (27), Indiana coach Frank Vogel was third (7) and Memphis coach Lionel Hollins was fourth (6). Boston's Doc Rivers and Denver's George Karl each received a vote.

Pop deserves his Coach of the Year award. This is now 13 seasons in a row where Spurs have got 50+ wins in a season.

Great to see the Sixers win, they've been poor for so long, lt's a minor miracle that group ever came together. They have a great tradition, Chamberlain, Dr. J, Moses Malone, Barkley, Iverson, Hal Greer [franchise leader in games, minutes, field goals (made & attempted) & points, one of the very best jump shooters in history], Dolph Schayes, Neil Johnstone and Billy Cunningham, among others. They should be a relevant team, imo, for the world to be properly aligned.

as fantastic as 2011 was with my Packers, Mavs, Bruins, ManUtd all winning championships (only the Texas Rangers failed me by losing the world series), 2012 has been the opposite. Packers go 15-1 in the regular season and then one and done, Bruins were one and done, Mavs will be one and done, United not done but gasping for air. Maybe the Rangers will be the ones to buck the trend.

If Bynum can show the same hunger/consistency he has the first two games we can really challenge in the West. Bench scoring is still an issue, only 8pts from the bench although for some reason there were only 3 substitutes.

Celtics with a big win despite not having Allen or Rondo, I think that series could go the distance.

I really hope someone takes Jeremy Lin from the Knicks, they will refuse to play pick and roll basketball with him. Considering that Tony Parker and Tim Duncan won 3 titles together almost exclusively using the pick and roll, someone should really pick him up and pair him with a skilled big who can score.

Lin and Chandler were a damned good pairing already, but they won't play the pick and roll with Melo on the team, that's what caused the whole D'Antoni thing to blow up. But for me, Melo lacked the discipline to stay in position on the perimeter instead of sliding inside, gumming up the lane with his defender, and ruining the system. Yet of course you can't fire Melo, so they switch the system for him.

Can't think of a player who forced his team to play another style through sabotage and then won a title.

Melo is one of the best scorers of this generation - no serious coach is going to restrict him so Jeremy Lin and Tyson Chandler can play pick and roll.

D'Antoni got fired because he is shit...and always has been shit. His teams have never won a thing, and more importantly never played any D. You factor into all of that, A'mare being even less interested in playing D this season than he has been historically, and it spells disaster.

D'Antoni should have never gotten the job in the 1st place.

I wasn't suggesting he be restricted, just using an offense instead of the 'give it to Melo' insolation that Anthony's teams tend to play. Ginobli got plenty of shots on the Spurs when they were playing pick and roll, Melo could do the same. But my point wasn't that Lin and Chandler are going to win anyone a title playing pick and roll, but Anthony's unwillingness to do what his coach told him. Anthony basically couldn't wait for the play to develop and had to come inside and cry for the ball, it's embarrassing. Try enacting a different strategy than your boss wants at your job and see how they like it.

I didn't like it when Kobe wouldn't run the plays Phil Jackson called, and I don't like it from Melo either. He's lazy and undisciplined, selfish and a poor defender. I guarantee he'll never win a title, unless he does a Bosh and becomes the 3rd option behind 2 other stars.

Watching the Spurs thoroughly outclass the Jazz, now there's a team that plays basketball the right way. I'm going to be rooting for them to win it all just as a victory for basketball, actually playing the game right instead of isolation and running into people looking for fouls.

Kawhi Leonard is again playing brilliantly for the Spurs, it still burns me up that the Pacers traded him! I hope rooting for the Spurs will make up for it.

San Antonio at halftime:
