Nba 2011-2012

I have to say I didn't see Love being this good. But he seems like he's going to be around a long time.

Solid fundamental skills and basketball IQ, coupled with his work ethics, he's here to stay. He's the perfect number 2 player in the team, unfortunately for him now, he has to be the number 1 player in the Timberwolves.

Look at the difference in his speed last season with this season and you can tell the training he did in the offseason has helped him become a much harder player to guard.

Knicks running riot on the Magic, 31 pts up at the end of the 3rd having scored 90pts already and doing this without Lin or Amare.

I actually had Ohio state winning on my bracket. I think Kentucky may just choke it. This year's draft is also completely overblown, outside of Davis/MKG/Marshall/Zeller, i just don't see loads of sure winners.

NBA wise, i love the look of the Spurs! surely pop has to win COY?

OKC will win, hope Fish gets a good reception.

Wonder what the odds are on Bynum taking another 3pt shot? Stupid move from him and his reaction to being benched was pathetic.

that lakers team must be so hard to control.

Sessions and Kobe surely has to implode, i just can't see Kobe liking the limited touches he gets when Sessions is playing.

I need the lakers to get this one... I have them for unders in a bet.

Miami dallas is going right now.. Miami still can't guard Dirk.

Doubt so. Kobe has so many opportunities to explode recently and held it off like the old wizened team leader he is now.

Really chasing numero .... sixo?

Kobe's also quietly had a stinking back half to the season...

This season is wide open.. I think out of the west, lakers/OKC/Spurs will go through.

And the east is gonna be interesting, i don't think anyone would want to play the knicks in the first round.

i know this is an NBA thread, but what's everyone's take on the draft? I think it's completely over-rated.. it's deep but they're going to be some huge busts. (i'm looking at you Harrison barnes and Andre Drummond)

haha. they had something on Barnes and his "brand" on Grantland.

He's Marvin Williams v 2.

He'll be a decent player, but you just know someone is going to reach and pick him too high...not his fault of course.

You look at him, and you think there is no reason for him not to succeed, then you watch him play in isolation, and you realize...uh-oh, he has a lot of shortcomings. This kid isn't going to be turning around any franchises.

That's his problem though. He's a good jumpshooter, and ok rebounder, and that's about it. He has a questionable handle and i don't like his athleticism on defense and offense.

he's going to go top 5, hence my Marvin Williams comps.

i'm actually really high on Tyler Zeller and Kendall Marshall, they're going to be really good pro's.

Yup...there are some real studs in this draft, real can't miss picks. Wonder who my Wizards will get  But the draft has been weird for years now, especially with the international players thrown in.

You getting hyped for the Final Four? Not sure who to root for in the Calipari-Pitino bitch fight...they're both bad guys

the thing about this draft is there's going to be some absolute steals and then some stinkers. If i were the wizards i'd go for Kidd-Gilchrist.. he plays hard! and although i don't mind booker, MKG is a huge upgrade. A core of Wall/Crawford/MKG and nene is pretty nice... just let Lewis expire and the wizards aint bad.

I'm a pistons fan.. i'll be the happiest dude in the world if we get thomas Robinson..

I'm rooting for Kentucky...I like Davis and MKG too much to root against them. Want Ohio to win, don't mind Sullinger, and love Craft.

Fair enough...I was happy as soon as Duke got knocked out. It's the same every year, as soon as they lose, I can truly enjoy the tournament then. Hated them ever since as a 9-10 year old, I saw Laettner make THAT shot.

As for my Wizards...Wall needs to work hard this summer, sort out his shooting action. His poor shooting, is hampering him and the rest of the team. With his quickness, and the penetration that comes from it...any sort of a shooting threat would have him scoring 20 points every night...instead he is throwing up brick after brick

Lakers barely win. Kobe hit the go ahead 3 pointer and finished a woeful 3-21, having been 0-18. Still, when his team needed him he made the big play.

OKC is dominating. Destroying good teams for fun.

That UK v Louisville game was fun.. Anthony Davis is an absolute monster.

Kobe has been real bad lately. Seems like he is feeling the wrath of playing so many minutes. Mike Brown is a hopeless coach as well. Sessions has been a positive, and if him, Kobe, Bynum and Gasol get firing during play off time they'll be hard to stop. Like Kobe said, during the play-off there is more time to rest and recover so don't count out the Lakers.

OKC has easily beaten the Heat, Lakers and Bulls recently. If they play as a unit then I'll take them as the favourites for the title.

I agree. Though Lakers could have been in the game if it wasn't for Gasol's high foul count. After he sat on the bench for a while it all went down hill. They were leading by 5 at half time. Still, Westbrook + Durant look unstoppable. Ibaka has improved heaps as well and Harden is one of the best 6th men in the league.

They may aswell give Harden 6th man of the year now.

I'm still not convinced about the Thunder yet. The key for them is Ibaka, if he can knock than mid range jump shot and dominate defensively, i give them a heck of a shot..

I think Spurs is a bit of a dark horse.. But if i were to bet, i'd still have money on the heat.

Just amazing what the Spurs have done since Ginobili went down. Hope they make more noise in the playoffs than last season. They will be hoping they don't get Memphis!

24-5 in last 29, surely the best record in the NBA over that time. Only losses were:

@ Dallas 106-99
vs Clippers 120-108
vs Denver 99-94
vs Chicago 96-89
@ Portland 137-97

Pop surely has to be COY? and Parker should be top 5 MVP. The most under-rated player in the NBA.

I don't think there's anyone else who judges players better than him. Danny Green, Leonard, Neal.. He made Roger Mason Jnr decent.

I don't think the spurs would be worried about anyone.. they were pretty banged up last year against the griz, Man Utd was out etc. I think picking up Diaw is reasonably smart too.

CoY is basically Pop vs Thibs again.

MVP though, Durant, Lebron, Kobe(sentimentally deserves more than 1 and has been mostly great) are the main 3. K-Love and Westbrook are stat padding like crazy too, and Parkers probably in with them in the second tier for it.

It's between Lebron and Durant, whoever ends up with the best team record wins it IMO.

Love would be my MVP, his stats and consistency are incredible, especially since he is on a poor team who lost one of the best players (Rubio) to injury. Durant will, however, win it.

Being in a poor team sometimes improves your stats..

True but he's a beast and he'd definitely be in contention for MVP if he was on a better team. The MVP usually goes to the best player on the best team, I just think Love should be in the discussion considering what he has done this season.

Definitely, Love is a great player, with many qualities, and he is up there with the best in the league.. Unlucky though with Robio getting injured.. He could very well end up missing on the playoffs, which would be a shame.

Don't buy into the whole K-Love for MVP thing.. I like him, one of my favourite 10 players in the league.. But he's a passive player, he doesn't affect the game. Don't know how to quite explain it, but guys like Duncan/Garnett can put up 19, 8 and they affect the game, they're the best player on the court.. i don't get the same feeling when i watch love. That's why i'm so high on Anthony davis. The kid scores 5 points all game and he's clearly the best player on the court. Love is also a below average defender (and that's being generous)

He hasn't been able to carry a team past .500.. sure his team isn't great, but it isn't as terrible Bron's cavs etc. He'll be top 5, but i hope he doesn't come top 3.

With Westbrook, he gets a harsh deal. The guys only been playing point for 3.5 seasons.. he's getting better and better. Sure he makes some bonehead plays, but he's improving. Truth be told, i think westbrook is going to be at the same level as D-Rose in a few years.

I'm that excited about Davis btw. I think he's going to be an effing franchise changing player.
