Nasri To City - Done Deal!

Wonder what Arsenal fans think of his comments:lol:

They aren't liking it, that's for sure.

He's just using it as leverage to get the deal he wants. Personally, and as much as I hate to say it, I think Wenger's mostly to blame here... Players like Nasri, who are about to hit their peak, want to win things - and unless Wenger pulls out some inspiring signings these players will always question the direction of the club and their place in it.

Wenger, sign some guns and make players like Nasri want to be a part of it all. It's pretty much that simple.

Ambition will obviously be a part of it, but your club's utterly mental wage structure won't help the situation either.

But it's all down to maintaining the Arsenal business model, and hats off to them, he seems happy to bring good young players in on a conveyor belt and selling them when they get to mid-late 20's and keep pulling in profits. It's like Wenger said, to build and move into that fantastic stadium and still keep in the top 4 is a good achievement. You have to take your hat off to Wenger for what he has done for Arsenal, but success is equally important and you could argue that he simply hasn't won enough trophies from the positions they have been in.

sounds like the Rooney situation then.

the best players want the clubs they play for to show ambition. nothing wrong with that.

Talented player who would find a home on our left of midfield or attack. With a better team around him I think he will improve.

Not sure whether he is just trying to get a better deal though.

Don't think he wants a better deal, think he might be trying to force Arsenal into selling him elsewhere.

If Fabgeras doesn't leave, he'll get shoved out on the wing again(Fabregas + Wilshere being the partnership), and I think he prefers to play in the middle.

There's no doubt he'd be a wonderful signing but there's also no doubt he's staying at Arsenal.

That's my opinion on the whole thing anyway. This whole thing just smacks of him trying to get a better deal.

I think he'll stay at Arsenal after getting a better deal.

Even if he leaves, he'll go abroad: Arsenal won't sell him to another English club.

Ambition? As with Rooney it's just about the fecking money.

Some day soon Nasri will sign a big money contract renewal with Arsenal, and it'll be written up in the press as a 'snub' to United even though the player and his agent were making up interest by United to drum up a better deal.

We've seen this so many times before.

it may well happen as you say with the Nasri situation.

I stand by my stating 'ambition'. The very best players are not just satisfied with money. They want to win things. btw when I mention 'club' i meant the owners of the club.

Yes. Rooney did want a better deal. But he wanted the promise of greater investment in the squad. We may well see that this summer.

I wouldn't mind him coming here. But all this is done just to get a better deal at Arsenal, which he eventually will. He is one of their 3 best players.

Come on this is nothing new to a thousand other contract issues around the world, player wants more money, club haggle over pay rise, player makes teasing remarks over other clubs interest, current club agree to pay rise, player stays.

He will be at Arsenal come the new season, id bet my testicles on it.

Why do people say that Arsenal won't sell to an English club... Adebayor ?
Cashley ? Toure ? They will sell if they get the right price and with contracts stalling... a 20-25m will definitely get their board to consider the offer...

If he was available, then we'll have the best three wingers ( attacking talent ) in the PL... DO WANT !

Never in a million years is he coming here, you may as well discuss Messi wearing a United shirt next season.

Nasri would probably play centre midfield if we signed him - a position he was brilliant in at times for Arsenal last year. In fact, I felt it was his best position, and that he sometimes suffered out wide in comparison.

He'd be an amazing signing if we're being honest - Modric is certainly no better, and Sneijder's probably the only player out of all the ones we keep getting linked to that is either better or at the same level.

Unfortunately, I can't see Wenger selling us Nasri. It'd be one of the most stupid transfers possible.

Nasri wouldn't quite play CM for us he would actually play AM just behind the striker as our central midfield system doesn't allow a player with his low defensive work-rate to play there. So effectively we would be spending 20mil+ on a player to occupy the same role that Rooney currently plays for us.

Then the is the Modric question of whether he is better, I don't think he is as Modric is a far more consistant player with greater workrate who would be far better suited to playing CM for us.

Modric is the blueprint for the type of creative player we should be looking for this summer, unlike arsenal we both attack and defend as a team, so where as Arsenal style is to allow Nasri to become a passenger when it comes to defensive work that style no longer suits us since Ronnie left (and even then he played in position where we could compensate for his lack of defensive workrate).

There are better players we could buy for that position than Modric(probably none of them readily availible) but based purely on his skillset he is the type of grafting creative player we need and exactly the type we hope Anderson will eventually become more like on a consistant basis.

I don't want Nasri simply because he will be expensive, inconsistant, lacks bottle when the chips are down and he will take up a position in the squad already covered by a better player in Rooney. For me he isn't what we need.

Well did we sign bale? :smirk:

I'd love us to sign him and play him centrally, I think Sir Alex could mold him into an amazing player. But despite the comments from Evra weeks ago and now these from Nasri, I still cant see it happening

gerrard, rooney, etc., on and on...

' If' we are interested, why would he not be serious? With a year left on his contract, its far from impossible.I'm not sure why people are writing it off, it depends if we are interested for a start. If we are interested then we have two options as do Arsenal. Negotiate or wait until next Janurary and sign him on a pre contract then (or buy him then perhaps for cheaper?). Its far from impossible...

Sure he's negotiating a contract but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be interested joining a better team now would it.... no offence to Arsenal but we're the champions not them.

Can't he only sign a pre contract with a forgien club in January and talk to English clubs when it runs out In the summer

If he ever comes to us it's on a free. Champions doesn't mean shit if Arsenal flat out won't sell one of their best players to us, which they won't.

What would Wenger do if Nasri refuses to sign the contract and informs him his heart is set on United?

If it happens, I can imagine Arsenal asking for one of our players, just to placate their fans.

They won't have a choice unless they want to lose £20million next summer.

They can just as easily whore him out to plenty of other clubs instead of us.

Regardless, as stated many times already, no doubt just a contract bargaining move.
