I disagree that he was a good player for us, he had too many nightmare moments & i wasnt bothered he went to Arsenal whatsoever. We signed him the Summer we won the Champions League - talk about strengthening what you have & we ended up with an Inter reject. Arsenal are guaranteeing themselves the loss of around £25m (between transfer fees they would have had and the wages on his remaining year) and they'll have to buy a player to replace him next summer.
It doesn't seem the Wenger way to me, though being raided by rivals is a new-ish trick, I suppose.

first off, the CL is not probably his main priority.
The title I expect is what he would be hoping for.
That would be the main target for the top English teams which Arsenal certainly are.
