Nasri To City - Done Deal!

The state of our rivalry can be seen in the way Sir Alex and Arsene Wenger have acted towards one another. When we were genuinely scrapping over the title, these two men would bitch and moan at each other all the time, just as the fans did and the players fought each other on the pitch.

We no longer compete for the premier league title, our managers get along as friends... Maybe the Arsenal fans do still see us as rivals but really they're just holding on to past glories because we are not rivals. If competing for a trophy made us rivals at one point, then competing for 3rd place in the league with City makes them rivals now. Because thats where they find themselves

Compare and contrast with Liverpool who Fergie openly despises, irrespective of how high up the league table they are or who's in charge.

I just get a feeling it's a done deal. I could be way off base, but the quiet, the break up of negotiations, the talk of transfer request, the lack of credible interest from other clubs....we can only speculate but it just sounds to me like it's already a done deal. Wonder who will sign him :)

Incidently Scholes and Neville have come out saying we need midfielder/s  I think that's pretty much the feeling

The mere involvment in this by Scholesy, tends to make me believe it isn't yet a done deal. I do believe the "Nasri could replace me" sentiment is a weapon in SAF's arsenal (excuse the pun).

I genuinely believe we are trying very hard to tempt Arsenal with some cash and trying to assure Nasri that he is well enough thought of, to be filling a pair of huge boots. Scholesy is the best man to do the unofficial recruiting.

I think we are many miles closer to a Nasri deal than we are to Modriic or Sniejder.

I think it's got to be tempting for Nasri the idea of replacing Scholes. One of his tweets when Scholes retired shows how highly he rated him:

"Sad to hear Paul Scholes is retiring great player world class player the english zizou"

And now Scholes wants him to come to OT aswell! I'd say we're in with a good chance, but obviously plenty of other clubs will be after him too.

Unless I am missing something, I am quite shocked that Madrid are not in for Nasri.

Surely they would get him quite easily if they are. Arse would also certainly prefer to sell to them

Unlikely. They are already well stocked in that area. Don't forget they signed Sahin already and he is pretty similar to Nasri.

What I don't get is why Paddy and now Scholes (and Evra before them) are courting the player in the media.

All seems very unlike us.

We can't approach him without having an offer accepted?

This is a way of letting him know that we are ready to sign him up whether it be now or next summer, increases the pressure on teh arse too.

Can he play out wide? We may need cover out there when Nani goes to Italy.

That's what Sanchez was for. ;)

These days you first sound the player out before making an offer. Wrong I know, but everybodydoesit.

Madrid have Sahain, Canales, Ozil, Kaka, Alonso, Khediera. There is no need to buy Nasri and he would be in direct competition with Ozil, Kaka, Canales.

Would be an utterly pointless signing, even for Madrid.

Still?

Kaka will be on his way if they can find a buyer.

A cut price Nasri would be hard to say no to for a team like Madrid

 Seeing what he comes up with when Nani stays could be the most entertaining part of the summer.

He already stated as fact that Nani was going to Inter in part exchange for Sneijder. I don't think he's all that bothered about explaining himself.

Even if Kaka goes there is little sense. Ozil was fantastic last season and Real have just bought Sahin to play in the Alonso role. Canales is a great prospect too.

You can't however legislate for Real thinking, it's not logical.

I would imagine that Khedira is going to lose his place to Sahin.

He laughed to himself, and then again, and again, until he could laugh no more. He moved over to the bed and studied the mosaic of faces on each card looking back at him. All of them were targets, one by one he mentally assessed their attributes, transfer backgrounds and potential to fit the story, his story. His hands worked at mutant speeds, until all that was left were 9 cards. Spittle started to slowly creep down the side of his deranged mouth, he was so close, he could feel it. He sat down at the computer again and exited the high-resolution picture of Noel Edmonds he had been studying, and began to mash his webbed fingers together, forming almost perfectly retarded sentences. After two hours, he slumped against his chair, and then hammered his fist down on the enter key, smashing his keyboard into fragments, but the damage had been done, the post had been submitted.

I'll stop when you do.

I had the chance to see MUTV today. Paddy basically said that Nasri is a close second to Scholes. He change his tune from last week...."what problem in midfield?"

I wouldn't read too much into that.

Other than Siorac, must people believe there is a hole that will be filled this summer.

Read what he's saying ffs, he said he's desperate for us to sign a midfielder this summer.

I love Paddy. He's got a good sense of humor and he's down to earth. On the other hand he tend to play too much on the safe side in regards of these things. The fact that he compared him to Scholes (a close second) made me think a bit.

I don't know maybe you're right, Im reading too much into that.

Operation tap up Nasri has gone live...

If you can't beat them join them, eh? Barca do it. Madrid do it. We may as well.

One plays in the middle. The plays on the wing or upfront.

Yh sure nasri can play on the wing, but his natural position is in the middle. They play in different positions.

Nasri played most of his football on the wing, moved inside and looked better, Sanchez played most of his football on the wing then started playing more centrally and is suddently worth £35m... They're different styles but play in pretty much the same positions.

 All that's left now is Evra forcing a United shirt on him.

Read what I said!! FFS FFS! ;)

"Believe" is the key word.
God, I'm an idiot. Well, at least my excuse is quite good: I'm at work, answering phones, so I was distracted. ;) fecking work, always distracting me from reading transfer news!

Sorry!
