The FFP regs. have muzzled City. They're featherweights.

we'd like to think so, but apparently not in cities case anyway.

From what my bro tells me (admittedly he's a scouse lovin idiot) City will get around the FFP rules by substantially regenerating the area around their stadium, building a theme park, casino's, cinemas etc etc and claiming the turnovers as all part of the shitty FC entity.

 right ok

I'm fairly sure that income from non-football related business entities cannot count in their P&L.

They'll get around the rules by paying 300 Million a year for advertising Abu Dhabi in the stadium.

Well your brother needs to listen and keep up. UEFA closed that loophole and non-football income will not count. Clubs will have their books scrutinized and I doubt there will be any loopholes.

Clubs will always find a loop hole. Unfortunately people... It's way Real Madrid can be broke and still spend millions year on year out.

There planning this but 2015 is the earliest time they plan to get these things in place. Even then it will depend on the economic climate at the time.

It's all irrelevant because non-football related revenues will not count in the UEFA regulations.

What if a Sheikh buys a club, creates a company which then signs a £100M deal with said club and has their name printed on their shirts. "Commercial revenue"?

Too easy to be true, I know.. so where am I going wrong here?

Can't be done, if it's significantly above market value then it doesn't count.

There will be rules in place to prevent clubs from doing that, they will however find a different way. I wonder if buying a satellite club and paying silly money to take redundant players off the main club to make a prorit would ever work.

It all depends on penalties though. If they are under threat of not being able to compete in Europe, then they might follow the rules, but without such threat they will just carry on spendint and pay all the fines UEFA throw at them.

I'm pretty sure no one is allowed to own two clubs currently

Manchester City set to finalise £27m deal for Arsenal duo Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy | Mail Online

Manchester City are ready to press ahead with a £27million double bid for Arsenal pair Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri this week.

City are close to finalising a £7m deal for Clichy and will offer the Gunners the kind of deal that will be difficult to refuse if Nasri, as expected, fails to agree new terms at the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Premier League champions Manchester United are still in the hunt as is new Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas.

Nasri, a £15.8m signing from Marseille in 2008, is not due to return to London Colney until Thursday having been granted a few extra days' holiday, as have those other Arsenal players who were involved in international duty at the start of the summer.

The Gunners midfielder hinted at a possible exit after admitting he is craving silverware. He said:

'With no titles under your belt, you can't be in list for Ballon D'Or. I came to England for trophies because I've not won anything in my career, apart from an Under 17 European Championship in 2004.

'We already earn huge wages. The priority is to make a big career and to win titles. This is more important than everything else.

Cesc Fábregas, who has been on holiday in Spain, will return with the bulk of the senior squad on Tuesday, with Barcelona still attempting to complete what they hope will be a £35m transfer back to the club.

The Arsenal midfielder told reporters at a football campus in Tordera, Spain: 'If a player is on the market it is because the club does not want him. I have no problems,; following reports that Barcelona have lodged an initial bid of £35million plus add-ons for his signature.

Marseille and France midfielder Mathieu Valbuena, 26, has been mentioned as a possible recruit for Wenger should he lose Fabregas and Nasri.

His agent Christophe Hutteau said: 'I don't really wish to comment on this matter. All I can say at the moment is that Mathieu Valbuena is still under contract with Marseille. He will resume squad training tomorrow.'

Ahhhh the old FM trick, genius.

True but there is a clause in the rules that state a club can include revenue from “Operations based at, or in close proximity to, a club’s stadium and training facilities such as a hotel, restaurant, conference centre, business premises (for rental), health-care centre, other sports teams”. As long as there associated with the club.

After all many teams already have all these type of facilities in place as an important revenue stream. UEFA would not of got away with taking that away from teams.

Are we trusting the Daily Mail reports then?

What interest are we meant to have shown bar tabloid talk?

All United based interest is from the press and no where else. In my eyes he was always going to City, interest from us has been drummed up.

So how do you know if we're interested in a player. Did Fergie really talk about Young or Jones before the deals?
Or Anderson, Nani, Hernandez, Smalling?

I don't where he is going, but if all the press are consistently reporting that we're interested, than that means we probably are.

We virtually never talk about players before we buy them, I cannot recall a single situation when Ferguson would openly admit he's interested in someone particular.

If Nasri wants money, and he does, he's going to sign for City, if he wants trophies he will sign for us.

"Money has never been my motivation,”

“I have always taken decisions from a football point of view.

“I don’t want to sign for a club where I wouldn’t be playing the football that I like, where I wouldn’t feel happy, just for the sake of money.

“We already earn huge wages. The priority is to make a big career and to win titles.

“This is more important than everything else. I know the value and the meaning of money.”

Let's see if he's true to his word eh.

De Gea hadn't signed on the dotted line before Ferguson openly said we had identified him as our new Number 1. I agree with what you say though, we keep it stchum for good reason.

To be fair he has a better chance at trophies at City than at Arsenal and Wenger would probably rather he joint City, due to the inevitable fan backlash at losing one of your best players to a rival.

I'm pretty sure, and said this a million times whilst many of you were shitting it about the De Gea deal, there is NO fecking way SAF came out with that about De Gea if some kind of pre-contract hadn't already been signed.

So in my eyes, he had already signed on a dotted line of sorts!
