But L'Equipe is respected, man. RESPECTED.

L'Equipe said:
Samir Nasri and Arsenal can not agree yet on a new contract (he refused 400 000 euros per month according to the English media). But the French international midfielder has only one year lease until June 2012. So, Arsene Wenger would no longer necessarily against the idea of a departure from the former Marseille this summer. The two clubs Chelsea and Manchester would be interested and would be willing to put 22 million euros on the table according to local media. Recall that Nasri had been purchased 16.9 million in Marseille.

RESPECTED, man.

IMO, he's a fool to think Arsenal can't compete for the big honors. I don't think a switch to either Chelsea or United will greatly increase his title chances. How I see it it's just not a huge step up. Arsenal are always top 4 material, are always in the knock out stages of the Champions League, always do well in the Carling Cup and FA Cup.

You just have to look last seasons' match threads on this board and you'll see lots of nervous Caf members wishing Arsenal to drop points to give advantage to United. The main problem with Arsenal is they can't stay consistent during the latter stage of the season. Bad luck also follows them (last season against Liverpool, drawing Barca so early in the ko-stages, red card in CL-final).

Nasri damn well knows Arsenal can compete. Arsenal will compete, just like every other year.

Is that you Arsene?

Wtf?

Arsenal can't compete for the big honours, that's why they haven't won anything for 6 years. That's why they've finished 3rd twice and 2nd once in 7 years and finished outside the top 3 in the other 4 seasons. How can you say that a switch to one of two teams that between them have won the last 7 league titles and reached 3 european cup finals and won one of them between them won't increase his chances of sucess?

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Yeah, Nasri, you fool, you won't increase your chances of a title at United!

United - 12 Premier League titles: last season finish; Champions
Arsenal - 3 Premier League titles: last season finish; 4th

Come on, Samir, don't be a fool!

Arsenal CAN compete for the biggest honours. Indeed, they usually do compete for them.

They invariably fail to actually win anything, true. But compete they will.

You could say that about any team in the Prem; Stoke compete for the title, as do Bolton and Wigan, and just like Arsenal they don't win it. That's because United win it.

I see ** in great spirits tod*ay man. Totally agree, *Arsenal just dont have the bottle nor fighters in their team. The present team* is light-years away from the Pet*it, Viera, *Adam*s, Bergkamp, Sperm, Dixon team of old. *'d think Wenger would realise that * need steel aswell as talent. United have that balance*, and w*e're onl*y gonna get *stronger before the transfer window shu*ts - here*'s hopin anyway!

Yeah exactly. If Nasri's clever then he'd realise that in joining United he'd become the final cog in a well-oiled, title-worthy super-machine, whilst leaving behind a flashy piece of bollocks with no engine, crap brakes and a delusional driver. All the evidence thus far suggests that our Samir is indeed quite clever — we shall wait and see.

I was trying to be sarcastic.

Arsenal do compete though; they are usually relatively close, they look like they have a good chance up until about March. Then they blow it. It's a delightful pattern.

Class man.. Top form today oul son

Manchester United sent in vain for a first offer of eighteen million for Samir Nasri, the Arsenal playmaker.
Manchester United made a proposal of eighteen million for Samir Nasri (24), whose contract expires in June 2012. But Arsenal do not want to build a direct competitor. Same for Manchester City and Chelsea are also on the trail of the French international.

Inter Milan is also on the spot. Nasri is fruitiful, with dry eyes like gremlin

Say what?

Nasri told the News of the World: "Money has never been my motivation. I have always taken decisions from a football point of view.

"I don't want to sign for a club where I wouldn't be playing the football that I like, where I wouldn't feel happy, just for the sake of money.
I do hope this is not the draft version of "Honest...I didn't join City for the money, really I didn't".

It's funny, actually - Arsenal having probably started a lot of this direct movement of top players between top clubs in England in recent times by selling Adegayger to city. Can't think of a high-profile one before then.

Its a bit of a pre-curser to the Torres deal. Previously there wasn't even speculation; with the possible exception of Gerrard to Chelsea

Summary - Arsenal are a bunch of gimps

The Gallas-Cole swap?

The Gallas-Cole swap?

good shout - also involving Arsenal selling a very good player to a rival for the sake of about £5k (plus whatever 'emotional damage' one can do to Ashley Cole - presumably never enough)

The Sol Campbell one wasn't at that time a deal between two of the very top clubs, so I'm excluding that one

Cashley Cole to Chelsea too.

edit.
Smeg :(

that was charity - doesn't count!

maybe Seba Veron was so bad in England he single-handedly eradicated the practice for a number of years. Come to think of it, I prefer this theory

Very, very big boots to fill, Nando

It was more of a case of cutting down the losses before its too late. JSV didn't settle down well in Manchester. His price was going down and Chelsea came for him with a decent fee. Wenger should learn from that lesson. If Nasri wants to leave then it would be better to sell him now for 20m then lose him for free.

Has this been mentioned?

He said: "I would say a deal for Savic has been done, but Nasri? No, not yet."

Mancini, on skysports.

Tevez? Yes I know he was never ours but we certainly had first dibs on him. Ok we didn't actually sell him to city but we also didn't help the situation, fact is he went to City and without him they would not have ended the trophy drought or finished 3rd this season.

City have a bottomless transfer budget, it was going to happen sooner or later whether it was tevez or another superstar which they signed, city are going to be a force for the next few years whether we like it or not.

Surely not even a joke club like city can feck this opportunity they have up?
