Nasri To City - Done Deal!

Arshavin is not on less than 100k and Fabregas is getting more. Bonuses are rarely mentioned. Like I said, the contracts are about much more than just the normal rate per week.
Well who really knows - but it seems to be around 90K since he was moaning how much tax he pays. It's complicated by signing on fees, agent's commission, image rights, bonuses, tax avoidance and all kinds of other shit but we're trying to look at headline figures

Arsenal CAN afford to pay mega wages. They just choose not to.

It is both admirable and self-defeating, at the same time.

Footballers wages aren't really 'inflated'. They may be vulgarly remunerated, but it's not really 'inflated' in that they earn a reflection of their economic output. Clubs are raking in huge turnovers and players are the 'stars' of the show...

actually they play pretty good wages accross the board its the extra large wages some players now earn that they will not compete with. Chelsea started the trend in this country and now Man city have followed. United have realised that to keep the really big names like a Rooney they have had to match them.

The average weekly wages in 2009-10 were as follows:

Barca - £93k,
Madrid - £86k,
Chelsea - £71k,
city - £69k,
United - £60k,
Liverpool - £58k,
Arsenal - £56k.

So it's not as if Arsenal are a million miles below their competitors. The problem is their wage structure is upside-down - their youngest players are on the highest salaries, in order to keep them at the club. The problem with this is inevitably the senior players will become disgruntled, I predicted a few months back that this, coupled with a lack of success, could mean an exodus.

The saving grace for Arsenal could be the FFP, they're in excellent financial health as far as I can tell.

Compared to us they aren't but we attract top players because we are a successful club. Compared to City and Chelsea there are miles behind, £15k on average per player is a huge difference. Madrid and Barcelona are different because they have shorter squads (especially Barca) so it brings the average result down as they don't really have fringe players.

You might be right. I'm thinking of what the club pays the players. I never think about the taxes in these matters. It varies so much between countries that you can never discuss these matters in detail because you never have the right perspectives.

I think he's doing a Rooney. Playing the hardest kind of ball and being a dick to get more money but would rather like to stay.

I also don't believe anything that the media says in this matter. Nasri has always come off as an honest guy and he did state very early in this summer that if there is something to report that's set in stone he will comment on it himself.

The sad thing about this is that City can potentially steal players from a Club as prestigious as Arsenal. To a lesser extent Chelsea too.

In this way Arsenal do have my sympathy, even though they are one of the good old enemies of ours, you have to respect them as a football club.

Same cannot be said of City. A fecking moron factory with money.

That's what I thought at first but I've got a horrible feeling the $$$ signs are spinning. As I said above he could probably make about an extra £50/60K a week elsewhere.

Arsenal v Anyone else is the big four bar us to win any competition and im firmly an arsenal fan for the day

I think that was just the signing on fee that they all get now (as if the fecking wages weren't big enough). What do you do? Gamble that you can win stuff and increase revenue and pay up. Sell out to Usmanov and let him play silly $$$ with Abramovic and the Sheikh. Or keep to the 10-year plan?

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

The ten year plan? What plan is that then....to be consistently shit for 9 years, bottle it every time you can smell some silverware....to loose cup finals to teams who later the same season are relegated, to have the few decent players you have all wishing they were somewhere else, and then in season 10 when no one takes you seriously anymore to come from nowhere and start winning things?

If we post enough, he will come! We need to hit 100 pages before we get any sort of news...

You'll just have to curb your excitement and wait and see won't you?

The only thing we will see is Wenger sinking slowly into insanity as Le Arse consistently fail to win everything and the few quality players they have desert the club. In the end Wenger will be approaching children in the park and as he is led away in cuffs screaming about "the kids are the future and they are FREE!!!!"

I have no idea what to believe.
So many different medias have reported our interest - surely they can't all be bullshitting...

Wenger wants Nasri stay | Manchester United News, Fixtures, Results, Transfers | Sky Sports

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen to keep hold of Samir Nasri as rumours continue over the France international's future.

The 24-year old midfielder netted 15 goals for the Gunners last season and has attracted interest from all over the world - as well as from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Manchester City.
French publication L'Equipe has claimed Nasri has rejected Arsenal's offer of a new contract as he looks to push through a move away from the Emirates.

But Wenger said of his compatriot: "We will do everything to keep Nasri at the club. My wish is that he stays here.

"If he looks back he can see that he's come quite a long way with us, and I think there is still a bit to do. It's the club that makes the player's career."

On the potential departures of Cesc Fabregas and Gael Clichy, Wenger added: "Obviously we want them to stay. They are part of Arsenal and big players for the club so we want them to stay, but we will see."

Real Madrid have reportedly joined arch rivals Barcelona in bidding for Fabregas' services, while it understood Clichy's purported switch to Manchester City is well on course.

I do think there's truth in this. The most convincing thing so far is that we get linked with him a lot and other clubs are distancing themselves from it - as if they know that he is keen to go elsewhere. City would be all over Nasri otherwise, I would have thought.

The tone of Wenger's quotes have dampened somewhat. He doesn't sound very upbeat keeping any of the three players

RvP is a cracking player but you can probably on count on him for 25 games a season, so it's hard to know whether clubs would make the sorts of offers that might tempt Arsenal.

I would have him at United though simply for the fact that unlike Arsenal we wouldn't need him for every match but he is amazing when fit.

Having said that I would be shocked if we did make a move.

Yes, a lot.

Would have to agree, I also think he would suit our style of play much more which has always been Berbatovs biggest problem in his 3 seasons here as his talent has never really been questioned.
