Nasri To City - Done Deal!

David McDonnel of The Mirror tweets that City have told him there not interested in Nasri, few hours later another journo from his paper prints a story saying that City are after him.

Good work place communication there.

Yeh, that's true, I'm just having a paranoid moment. How did they end up being the ones with so much money?! it all seems like a bad dream! :wenger:
It isn't that bad a situation, at all. I'm enjoying their hypocritical reaction to becoming what they supposedly hated about us - spending large amounts of money and attracting more global support. Of course, we spent what we earned and even that wasn't that much (5th highest in net spend since '92). They painted themselves as the authentic local club, with players who truly cared about the club, whilst we simply bought our way to success. Without that identity, as deluded as it was, what are they? And, best of all, we're still handing their arses to them in the league, on a relatively limited budget!

The whole thing is rather beautiful really, save the odd FA Cup.

Maybe things changed. :)

In the space of 8 hours? In fact SSN was running with Nasri to City alot earlier than that.

I doubt a club would go from "not interested" to "close to signing" in that small period of time.

What role would he actually adopt at City? Silva's understudy? I know City consider themselves a bit 'light' in the central attacking department but I can only really see space for one of the Nasri / Silva type player in a team. Having two of them to alternate, when they are each of such a high standard, just seems stupid.

If we are genuinely interested then surely Nasri won't be able to resist the prospect of becoming an integral part in our team. I understand he wants more money than he is on at Arsenal but I'd hope it wasn't all about money and he would actually value the opportunity to become a lynchpin of another United side.

Nasri has evolved into a hell of a player. It's thus quite natural that he expects a substantial pay rise in his next contract. If Arsenal do not share this perception, they can not expect other than that he is considering alternative options. Compared with other players at his level, he can demand quite a lot of money before he possibly can be defined as greedy IMO.

It would please me if Manchester United had the opportunity to meet Nasri's claims- if reasonable.

I wish someone would just bid for him & be done with it...its starting to piss me off...

You think nobody has yet? The bidding process, certainly when it involves us, is often quite discreet and secretive.

Arsenal will be playing serious hardball on this one; they have to. If he's going then they need as much money as possible to pump back into the team. The thought of them having to rely on Arshavin on the LW for the entire season fills me with happiness!

The o'shea being linked to Arsenal is interesting...

The MEN have got a real hard on for Sneijder, not an article goes by without them mentioning him

Thats how I feel with the whole transfer window really. I hate how it drags on and I'll be glad when its shut so we can get on with the proper stuff.

Auclair is convinced that City will move for Nasri for £20m.

Man City sources confirm interest in Gael Clichy but insist they are not in for Samir Nasri #MCFC #AFC

I wouldn't be surprised if the above is City trying to play it down.

To be honest, it looks to me that Nasri is money orientated. If he has the choice between United and City, he'll choose the money.

It ain't random. It's in responce to Name Changed saying he thinks Nasris for the money......the fact is it's based on speculation. It's only when bids have been accepted we can see what his motives are.

Did we even bid?

No one really knows. You'd have to think we'd be interested of course. He ticks a lot of boxes and his contract situation must interest clubs. However, there's so much bs being thrown about on twitter and various other media outlets, that you just don't know. These same rumours exist around city. It's easy for any prick out there to link them to someone. It just creates more interest and we all naturally follow because somewhere...someones telling the truth. It's cruel :)

No, that was based on the fact that he won't sign another contract with Arsenal, and from reports I've heard it is because he wants an extraordinary amount of money.

extraordinary? I think 50grand a week is extraordinary personally..however these are things we've heard. Heard is hearsay. Why not wait until he's resigned for Arsenal or someone else?

Its quite possible that, during discussions on the terms of the Clichy deal, Arsenal have asked City to back off from Nasri for the time bieng, until they have found a replacement.

That, or we told them to feck off and die.
Nah its out of your hands now Pete, to all intents. If Nasri won't sign, you'd be fools to keep an unhappy player for one last season at the cost of £20m.

A front three of Tévez, Silva, and Nasri frightens me immensely.

Some guile, creativity and tenancity (mainly for Tevez.) However, two of the three aren't consistent goal-scorers and there is little height and physicality (aside from Tevez.)

Still, City don't deserve it.

Can't see Nasri going to City. He's more ambitious than that, IMO.

He'll stay at Arsenal which is still an open case or go to one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
